HMS Sherwood is a Royal Naval Reserve shore establishment in Nottinghamshire, England. The first naval reserve unit was established in Nottingham in 1949. It was commissioned as Sherwood in 1984, at which time the unit was based at Chalfont Drive, Beechdale. A Royal Marines Reserve detachment was added to the unit in 2007. In 2014 HMS Sherwood moved to Chetwynd Barracks, Chilwell, where it was co-located with an Army Reserve unit. Sherwood was honoured by receiving the freedom of the city of Nottingham in 2018.

Toton Traction Maintenance Depot or Toton Sidings is a large traction maintenance depot located in Toton, Nottinghamshire. The TOPS depot code for the depot is TO. Before TOPS, the shed code was 16A (18A prior to 1963).Prior to the 2021 Integrated Rail Plan for the North and Midlands, the site was the proposed location of the East Midlands Hub railway station on the Leeds Branch of HS2.

East Midlands Hub was a planned new railway station on the Leeds Branch of High Speed 2. It was intended to be located on the existing railway sidings in Toton, situated between Nottingham and Derby. The station would have been located adjacent to the M1 motorway in Nottinghamshire, on the border with Derbyshire. After a sifting process, High Speed Two Limited offered a shortlist of East Midlands options consisting of this site or the expansion of the existing Derby railway station, with the government stating its preference for a station at Toton in January 2013. The Toton plans are supported by Nottingham City Council, whereas Derby City Council would prefer the station to be sited at Derby railway station and Rushcliffe Borough Council support the expansion of the existing East Midlands Parkway station. In early October 2014, reports emerged that the preferred location for the East Midlands Hub station had been relocated to Breaston, 2-3 kilometres south-west of Toton. By July 2015 High Speed Two Limited confirmed they were not considering the Breaston site and that their preferred location for the station was at Toton. In November 2016 Phase 2b was approved by the Government.Plans for the station were officially scrapped in November 2021 when the government announced that HS2 would terminate at East Midlands Parkway station and not continue north to Leeds and York.

Inham Road is a tram stop on the Nottingham Express Transit (NET) network, in the district of Broxtowe and suburb of Chilwell. It is on reserved track close to a crossing over Inham Road, and has side platforms flanking the track. Trams run at frequencies that vary between four and eight trams per hour, depending on the day and time of day.Inham Road stop opened on 25 August 2015, along with the rest of NET's phase two.

Stapleford and Sandiacre railway station served the towns of Stapleford, Nottinghamshire and Sandiacre, Derbyshire, England from 1847 to 1967 on the Erewash Valley Line.

Stapleford was a rural district in Nottinghamshire, England from 1894 to 1935. It was formed under the Local Government Act 1894 from part of the Shardlow rural sanitary district in Nottinghamshire, and consisted of the parishes of Bramcote, Chilwell, Stapleford and Toton. Two other parishes of Shardlow RSD in Nottinghamshire (Ratcliffe on Soar and Kingston on Soar) were instead administered by Shardlow Rural District. It was abolished in 1935 under a County Review Order, becoming part of the Beeston and Stapleford Urban District along with the former Beeston Urban District.

Toton is a large suburban village in the Borough of Broxtowe in Nottinghamshire, England. It forms part of the built-up area of Beeston, which in turn forms part of the wider Nottingham Urban Area. The population of the electoral ward of Toton and Chilwell Meadows was 7,298 in the 2001 census; it increased to 8,238 at the 2011 census.Until 1974, Toton was part of Beeston and Stapleford Urban District, having been in Stapleford Rural District until 1935. The border with Derbyshire lies immediately to the west. Toton adjoins the Chetwynd Barracks (also known as Chilwell Depot), which forms a boundary to the east; the Erewash Valley railway line and Toton traction maintenance depot form a boundary to the west.
