Münster Zoo

The Westphalian Museum of Natural History (German: Westfälische Museum für Naturkunde) is a natural history museum in Münster, Germany.

The Gievenbach is a small German stream in the Westphalian city of Münster. It runs entirely in the Gievenbeck district in the west of the city, which is named after the stream. The Gievenbach rises in the northwest of the district not far from the A1 motorway, flows southeastward through the district center, and ends in the Aasee, near the Münster Zoo.

The Westfälische Pferdemuseum Münster - Hippomaxx is in the Allwetterzoo in Münster, Westphalia. The Hippomaxx is independently by the Allwetterzoo and promoted by a development association. Entrance is included to the admission charge of the zoo.

Meckelbach is a river of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It flows into the Münstersche Aa southwest of Münster.

The Max Planck Institute for Molecular Biomedicine was founded on 1 April 2001 in Münster, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is part of the Max Planck Society. The current managing director is professor Dietmar Vestweber.

FH Münster, based in the Westphalian city of Münster with a second campus in Steinfurt, is a German university. It has a student enrolment of around 15,000 (as of winter semester 2018/19), making it one of the largest public universities of applied sciences in Germany. It has twelve faculties and one central scientific unit. The University offers around 100 degree programmes (as of winter semester 2018/19) in the fields of business and management, engineering, design, health, social studies and teacher training. In November 2011, Münster University of Applied Sciences was the first university of applied sciences in Germany to successfully complete the process of system accreditation. Since then, the University has been able to accredit its degree programmes itself – without the need for assessment by external agencies.

The Center for Nanotechnology is one of the first centers for nanotechnology. It is located in Münster, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It offers many possibilities for research, education, start-ups and companies in nanotechnology. Hence it works together with the University of Münster (WWU), the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Biomedicine and many more research institutions.

Lippe [lip] was a department of the First French Empire in present-day Germany. It was named after the river Lippe. It was formed in 1811, when Principality of Salm and a part of the Grand Duchy of Berg was annexed by France. Its territory is now part of the German lands of Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia. Its capital was Münster. The department was subdivided into the following arrondissements and cantons (situation in 1812): Münster, cantons: Dülmen, Haltern, Münster, Nottuln and Sankt Mauritz. Neuenhaus, cantons: Bad Bentheim, Heede, Neuenhaus, Nordhorn and Wesuwe. Rees, cantons: Bocholt, Borken, Emmerich, Rees, Ringenberg and Stadtlohn. Steinfurt, cantons: Ahaus, Billerbeck, Coesfeld, Ochtrup, Rheine and Steinfurt.Its population in 1812 was 339,355.In the months before the Lippe department was formed, the arrondissements of Rees and Münster were part of Yssel-Supérieur, the arrondissement of Steinfurt was part of Bouches-de-l'Yssel and the arrondissement of Neuenhaus was part of Ems-Occidental. After Napoleon was defeated in 1814, the department was divided between the Kingdom of Hanover and Prussia.

The Botanischer Garten Münster (4.6 hectares) is a botanical garden maintained by the University of Münster (Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster).

Schloss Münster, officially Fürstbischöfliches Schloss Münster, is the schloss built as the residence of the prince-bishop of Münster, modern-day North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It was built between 1767 and 1787 in baroque style as a mansion for the last but one prince-bishop Maximilian Friedrich von Königsegg-Rothenfels. The architect was Johann Conrad Schlaun. Since 1954 it has been the seat and landmark of the Westphalian Wilhelms University. The castle is built from the typical Baumberger sandstone of Münster.

The University of Münster (German: Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster, WWU) is a public research university located in the city of Münster, North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany. With more than 43,000 students and over 120 fields of study in 15 departments, it is Germany's fifth largest university and one of the foremost centers of German intellectual life. The university offers a wide range of subjects across the sciences, social sciences and the humanities. Several courses are also taught in English, including PhD programmes as well as postgraduate courses in geoinformatics, geospational technologies or information systems. Professors and former students have won ten Leibniz Prizes, the most prestigious as well as the best-funded prize in Europe, one Fields Medal and two Nobel Prizes. The WWU has also been successful in the German government's Excellence Initiative.
