Howard Smith Building

The Adelaide Steamship House is located at 10-12 Mouat Street, Fremantle. Built in 1900, the building was designed by Fremantle-based architectural firm Charles Oldham and Herbert Eales and was constructed by C. Coghill. The building takes its name from the original owners of the building, the Adelaide Steamship Company, who provided sea passenger and freight services around Australia.

The former Tarantella Night Club building, also known as the German Consulate and Norddeutscher-Lloyd Building is a heritage building located at Mouat Street in the Fremantle West End Heritage area. The building dates from the gold rush boom period in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries and is of historic significance.

The Old Customs House is a building in Fremantle, Western Australia that was built in 1908 to house the main branch of the Customs Department of Western Australia. It is one of only a handful of extant Customs Houses in the state; others are in Albany, Broome, Cossack, and Geraldton.

Fremantle Fire Station, in Phillimore Street, Fremantle, Western Australia, was the second fire station built for the Fremantle Fire Brigade and was opened in 1909. It was designed by architectural firm Cavanagh and Cavanagh and constructed by J. Lake. The fire station was designed to house four horse-drawn vehicles, including the district's ambulance, which was also operated by the fire brigade. During World War II the building was taken over by the US military for use as Marine quarters. In the early 1970s the accommodation at the fire station was inadequate and the Fire Brigade Board wanted to demolish the building, to allow the building of a larger station suitable for vehicles. This proposal was met with opposition from The Fremantle Society and the Fremantle Council. In 1975 the Fire Brigade built a new building on railway land next door, and in 1977 the old building vested in the City of Fremantle. The building is listed on the Register of the National Estate.

The Frank Cadd Building also known as the Fares House, is a heritage listed building located at 33 Phillimore Street, on the corner of Henry Street in the Fremantle West End Heritage area. It was one of many commercial buildings constructed in Fremantle during the gold boom period in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. The two story building was constructed in 1890 and has an enclosed half basement. It is constructed from rendered stone and has a bracketed parapet with zero set back from the pavement. The roof line parapet has low pier balustrade with '1890' inscribed in stucco. On the ground floor there is an arched entrance and windows, the engaged pilasters have ashlar effect quoining. The inscription of "Fares House" appears below the first floor sash windows.It was originally built for J. M. Ferguson, who was an importer.Between at least 1931 and 1959 it was the Frank Cadd Company's building, adjacent to single storey warehouses. Frank Cadd was Mayor of Fremantle in 1904–05, and started the freight forwarding agency sometime after that. By 2004, the University of Notre Dame had purchased the building. It is now used by their School of Health Sciences.

The P&O Hotel is a heritage listed building located at 25 High Street on the corner of Mouat Street in Fremantle, Western Australia. It was one of many commercial buildings constructed in Fremantle during the gold boom period in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century.

Hotel Fremantle located on High Street, Fremantle was built in 1899 for W. deLacy Bacon at the height of the Western Australian gold boom. It was designed by the local architecture firm Wilkinson and Smith. The three storey residential hotel contained bedrooms, public bars, billiard room and sitting room. The design incorporated the existing residential structure built for the previous owner William Dalgety Moore which had been constructed in 1885. The building was classified by the National Trust of Australia in 1974 and placed on the Register of National Estate in 1980.During World War II the hotel was used as a hospital with operating theatres. In 2002 the building was purchased to become part the Notre Dame University.

The Adelec Buildings located at 28–36 High Street, on the corner of Henry Street in Fremantle, Western Australia. The heritage listed buildings were constructed in 1906 during the gold boom period by the trustees of Captain Edward Henry Fothergills estate. For many years 32 High Street was known as Fothergill's Building. The buildings were designed by the architect F.W.Burwell and constructed by J McCracken. It is a two-storey rendered and iron commercial corner building constructed in the Federation Free Classical style of architecture. It was constructed with a bluestone base and brick walls and covered a total area of 90 feet (27 m) by 65 ft (20 m). The rendered walls have an ashlar effect with pilasters incorporating decorative capitols. The first floor has decorative pilasters with stucco arches and a keystone above the semi circular fanlight with two matching timber casement windows located below. There is a corrugated iron hipped roof behind the parapet with the words Adelec Building inscribed on the corner.There have been many tenants, including The Sunday Times and The Daily News. The Daily News moved their Fremantle offices into the building from further down High Street in 1908.The buildings are listed on the Register of the National Estate, and are part of the Fremantle West End Heritage area.

7 High Street, Fremantle is a historically significant building in the Fremantle West End Heritage area of Fremantle, Western Australia. It was constructed for the Bank of New South Wales in 1899, during the gold boom of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries and when Fremantle was a primary centre of trade and commerce. The building is largely unchanged since that time, and is a good example of Federation Free Classical architecture: a single-storey stone and brick construction, with fine timber features within and an elaborate stucco façade. The building comprises three rooms and a main bank chamber, and is on the corner of Cliff Street. The Bank of NSW operated from the premises until 1926, from which time until the 1950s the building was the office of the Swan Wool Scouring Company of WA. The land was purchased by both R M Lyon sometime between 1829 and 1837, and R Brown in 1855 (it could be that there were multiple lots involved). Brown's son R M Brown inherited the property c. 1872 and sold it to R King two years later. Pearse and Owston purchased the property in 1876 and seven years later sold a share to the Bank of New South Wales.The building is listed on the Register of the National Estate, and the City of Fremantle municipal heritage register.

The site of 4 High Street was purchased by the Union Bank of Australia in 1881 and for several years the bank operated from the existing building, which had been the residence of Captain Daniel Scott. A new building was erected in 1889 with plans prepared by Melbourne architect William Edward Robertson, the construction was supervised by James Wright. The bank built new premises further along High Street in 1930 and placed the existing building up for auction. It was advertised as having a 119-foot (36 m) frontage along High Street and a 64.5-foot (20 m) frontage along Cliff Street. The ground floor of the brick building had a large banking chamber, a manager's office, strongroom, entrance hall, dining room and kitchen. The first floor contained a drawing room, seven bedrooms, bathrooms and linen closet. There were balconies at both the front and rear of the building.In 1931 the property was purchased by the Church of England for the Flying Angel Mission to Seamen organisation. In December 1937 plans were approved for the construction of the St Andrew's Mariners Chapel to the west (along High Street) behind the former bank building. It was constructed by Hawkins & Son at a cost of £1,731 and continued to function as a chapel until the late 1960s. As of 2016 both buildings were owned and used by the University of Notre Dame Australia. The Flying Angel Club had moved to 76 Queen Victoria Street by 1968. It is within the Fremantle West End Heritage area.

Customs House and former Falk & Company Warehouse is an historic three-storey brick building located in Fremantle, Western Australia. The building has a number of prominent ornate façades on Phillimore Street between Henry and Pakenham Streets. It houses the Fremantle regional office of the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service, Centrelink, and a number of other Australian Government offices.

The University of Notre Dame Australia is a private Roman Catholic university in Australia with campuses in Fremantle and Broome in Western Australia and Sydney in New South Wales. Its campuses are notable for its restored late Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian-style architecture, most of which is ubiquitous in Fremantle's West End heritage area as a university town. The university was established by an act of the Parliament of Western Australia in 1989.The university is known for its high student-satisfaction rate, which according to the federal Student Experience Survey 2019 was the second highest in the country and the highest in Western Australia. The university ranks lower on research-based rankings of Australian universities. The university is also notable for having very high practical placement hours in its nursing and education programs and being one of two Western Australian universities providing courses in physiotherapy and postgraduate medicine. It also has programs in other subjects including in commerce and law, which can be combined with biomedical science, as well as varying majors of study in the fields of arts and sciences.The university crest is an open Bible with the opening verse from the Book of John inscribed in Latin. The verse was chosen as the university motto symbolising everything that exists beginning as an idea. The waves below the open Bible and the Commonwealth Star represent the port city of Fremantle, where the university was founded, and Australia as a nation surrounded by water. The symbols are affixed to a Oxford blue badge over a Cambridge blue Greek cross. While the UNDA shares a similar emblem with the Holy Cross University of Notre Dame in Indiana, which played a significant role in developing the university and retains a seat on its board, they are otherwise independent institutions.In the 2023 Good Universities Guide, Notre Dame University rated among the top four Australian universities for teaching quality, skills development and learner engagement. It is also one of two national universities to have maintained a 5-star rating in teaching quality for 16 years consecutively. The university is also affiliated with the Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities, International Council of Universities of Saint Thomas Aquinas, International Federation of Catholic Universities and St John of God Health Care.
