Derker tram stop

Derker is an area of Oldham, in Greater Manchester, England. It lies in north-central Oldham, close to the boundary with Royton.

Royton Junction railway station was a station on the Oldham Loop Line in Greater Manchester, England. It opened on 1 July 1864, and was the junction for the short branch line to Royton railway station. The line to Royton was closed to goods on 2 November 1964, and to passengers on 16 April 1966. A 450-yard section of the line remained in use for freight traffic from Royton Junction to Higginshaw Gas Sidings. This final part of the Royton Junction to Royton line closed on 6 April 1970.The station was renamed Royton on 8 May 1978, and was closed from 11 May 1987. Approval for closure had been given on 8 May 1987, for the station had been replaced by Derker station which opened 1⁄2 mile (0.8 km) away on 30 August 1985.

St James' Church is in Barry Street, Greenacres Moor, Oldham, Greater Manchester, England. It is an active Anglican parish church in the deanery of Oldham East, the archdeaconry of Rochdale, and the diocese of Manchester. The church is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building. It was a Commissioners' church, having received a grant towards its construction from the Church Building Commission.

Oldham Mumps is a tram stop on the Oldham and Rochdale Line (ORL) of Greater Manchester's light-rail Metrolink system in the Mumps area of Oldham which opened in 2014. A temporary stop of the same name opened to passengers on 13 June 2012 as part of Phase 3a of the system's expansion. Phase 3b resulted in the stop's decommissioning in 2014, and its replacement with the permanent stop at the opposite end of Mumps on a realigned track. The temporary stop was on the site of the original Oldham Mumps railway station, a heavy rail station which opened (initially for haulage) on 1 November 1847 and closed on 3 October 2009 for conversion to Metrolink. It was along the Oldham Loop Line, which operated from Manchester to Rochdale via Oldham and thus was almost identical to the current Metrolink route.

The Blue Coat School is a co education Church of England academy for 11- to 18-year-olds, located in the town of Oldham, Greater Manchester, England. The school caters for pupils aged 11–18, offering A-level and GCSE courses. It is one of the few schools in the country to hold Leading Edge Partnership programme and science college status. Prior to becoming leading edge, Blue Coat had been a beacon school. This means the school has social responsibility to help develop other secondary schools in the area, as well as themselves. The motto of the school is from the Latin: Semper Quaereamus Virtutem – "Let us always seek virtue".

The Brian Clarke Church of England Academy is a co-educational Church of England free school for 11- to 16-year-olds, located in the town centre of Oldham, Greater Manchester, England.The school caters to pupils aged 11–16, offering GCSE courses. It is temporarily located at The Blue Coat School, and construction on the purpose-built new school complex is planned to be completed by April 2023.The school is named after the artist Brian Clarke, painter and stained-glass designer, who was born in Oldham. The motto of the school is Luceat Lux Vestra, from Matthew 5:16: "let your light shine".

Higginshaw is an area of Oldham, Greater Manchester, England.

The Royal Oak is a Grade II listed former public house on Union Street in Oldham, Greater Manchester, England. Built in the early to mid‑19th century, it was extended and given a new frontage in 1872, and internally remodelled in 1928–29. It is regarded by the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) as having an interior of "outstanding national historic importance". In 2023 it was closed by its owners and sold, and in 2024 it was designated an asset of community value. Its future as of May 2026 is uncertain.

Oldham Mumps was a railway station, opened in 1847, which served the town of Oldham, Greater Manchester, England, on the Oldham Loop Line 7+1⁄2 miles (12 km) northeast of Manchester Victoria. At the time of closure, it was operated and managed by Northern Rail. The station, and the Oldham Loop Line were closed in October 2009 for conversion into a Manchester Metrolink tram line, renamed as the Oldham and Rochdale Line (ORL) and the station was demolished in 2010. Between 2012, and 2014, a temporary tram stop operated on the site of the station, until this was closed and replaced by a permanent tram stop a short distance away. The name of the station survives in the present Oldham Mumps tram stop which is located a short distance north of the former railway station, on the realigned track of the Oldham town centre tram line.

Oldham Mumps (L&NWR) railway station opened on 5 July 1856 as the terminus of the Oldham branch from Greenfield, the station served the Mumps area of Oldham. The station was probably only known as Oldham during its brief period of existence, the suffixes Mumps and L&NWR may have been added later to provide clarity between the various stations in Oldham. Hooper (1991) states the station was a temporary affair called Victoria. Several sources claim the station was only ever to be temporary.The station location is not precisely known, it has been described as being: "...by a Junction with the Mumps Extension of the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway at or near Mumps Mill." (Italics and capitalisation in original). "...presumably adjacent to the LYR station." "...with the Oldham Branch of the London and North Western Railway, at or near their Oldham station, at a place called Mumps,..." "...their existing terminus at Oldham Mumps..." "...this branch terminated at a station adjacent to the L&Y at Oldham Mumps." "...adjacent to the L&Y's Mumps station."Hooper (1991) states that "there was a junction with the L&Y and a one road engine shed was erected for the engine that would work the branch, with a turntable completing the facilities".The station became a through station on 1 July 1862 when it was connected to the Oldham, Ashton and Guide Bridge Railway at Oldham Clegg Street over jointly owned tracks.The station closed on 1 November 1862, when it was replaced by Oldham Glodwick Road.

Oldham Glodwick Road railway station opened on 1 November 1862 when the London and North Western Railway (L&NWR) revised the termination of the branch to Oldham from its main-line at Greenfield.
