Big Chico Creek

Bidwell–Sacramento River State Park is a state park of California, United States, preserving riparian habitat on the Sacramento River and its tributary Big Chico Creek. The park is located on the border of Butte County and Glenn County. Common activities include fishing for salmon, steelhead and shad; and floating the river on inner tubes, canoes or kayaks. The 349-acre (141 ha) property was established as a state park in 1979.The park's riparian habitat is an example of a disappearing natural resource. The riparian plant and animal communities depend on each other. Large oaks and cottonwoods give the shade needed for the survival of cool-water creatures. Thick understories of elderberry, wild grape, blackberry, wild rose and perennials provide shelter to a diverse wildlife population.

Sacramento River National Wildlife Refuge is located along the Sacramento River in the Sacramento Valley of California. Landscape is very flat, bordered by the Sierra and Coast ranges, with intensive agriculture (rice, with walnut, almond, and prune orchards along the river). This riparian community is one of the most important wildlife habitats in California and North America. The refuge is currently in an active acquisition phase, and includes the Llano Seco Unit. Large-scale riparian habitat restoration is ongoing. Riparian habitat along the Sacramento River is critically important for various threatened species, fisheries, migratory birds, plants, and the natural system of the river itself.

The Gianella Bridge was a swing bridge that brought CA 32 across the Sacramento River at Hamilton City, California, between Glenn County and Butte County. It was built in 1908-1911 by Cotton Brothers & Co., Contractors. Also known as Sacramento River Bridge at Hamilton City, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. The bridge was documented by the Historic American Engineering Record (HAER) in 1984. It was demolished in 1987 but remains NRHP-listed. While a bridge was desired by both counties, there was disagreement about the location. Glenn County favored the Hamilton City location to support Hamilton, in Glenn County, and the sugar beet industry; Butte County favored a location closer to Chico, in Butte County. The deadlock was broken by influence of Swiss-born Vincenzo Gianella, a Butte County large landowner and sugar beet farmer.It was replaced by a concrete highway bridge and was removed in 1987.Nonetheless, the swing bridge remains listed on the NRHP as of 2013.

Hamilton Union High School is a public high school located at 620 Canal Street in Hamilton City, California. It serves grades nine through twelve. Until recently, it was the only school in its district (Hamilton Union High School District). The Hamilton High and Hamilton Elementary Districts unified to the new Hamilton Unified School District on July 1, 2009, with Capay Elementary School remaining as an independent feeder school district. Hamilton Unified School District includes Hamilton High School, Hamilton Elementary School, Ella Barkley Continuation High School, and Hamilton Adult School. The current principal is Cris Oseguera, serving since 2009.

Nettleton Stadium is a baseball stadium in Chico, California on the campus of California State University, Chico. It is the home field for the CSU Chico Baseball team, the Wildcats. It also served as the former home of the now-defunct Chico Heat and Chico Outlaws professional baseball teams and Chico Heat collegiate wood bat league team. It holds 4,100 people. The stadium was named for majority owner of the Chico Heat, Steve Nettleton and his wife Kathy Nettleton. The Nettleton family donated the 4.5 million dollar facility to CSU. "Another attendance record was set a few days later in California as the July 4th game in Chico between the Outlaws and their rival Reno Silver Sox was sold out before the contest. Standing room only tickets quickly sold out at the ballpark bringing a Nettleton Stadium record of 4,699 fans to the game. The demand was so great that over 3,000 additional fans that couldn't get into the event flooded neighboring fields and parking lots to cheer the team through the fences and enjoy the post-game fireworks show."

University Soccer Stadium is a soccer-specific stadium located on the campus of California State University, Chico in Chico, California. The stadium seats 2,500 and is home to the school's soccer teams.

California State University, Chico, or commonly, Chico State, is a public university in Chico, California. It was founded in 1887 as one of about 180 "normal schools" founded by state governments in the 19th century to train teachers for the rapidly growing public common schools.
