Terre Bleue Creek

Pike Run is a stream in St. Francois County in the U.S. state of Missouri. It is a tributary of Terre Bleue Creek just upstream of that stream's confluence with Big River.The stream headwaters arise just south of Missouri Route Y about 1.5 miles southeast of Halifax and US Route 67. The stream flows southwest passing just east of St. Francois State Park and on to its confluence with Terre Bleue Creek about two miles west of the community of Hazel Run. The source area is at 37°59′56″N 90°28′37″W and the confluence is at 37°56′46″N 90°30′03″W.Pike Run was so named on account of its stock of pike fish.

The Eastern Reception, Diagnostic and Correctional Center (ERDCC) is a 2,684-bed prison located in a detached eastern section of Bonne Terre, Missouri. It is home to adult males who may have substance abuse issues or are mentally disabled.The ERDCC serves as the point of admission for male offenders committed by the courts in eastern Missouri to the Missouri Department of Corrections (MODOC), responsible for their classification through medical and mental tests. It contains Missouri's lethal injection execution chamber. Programs at this facility include restorative justice, Narcotics Anonymous and Alcoholics Anonymous, Impact on Crime, Seven points of highly successful people, and Storylink. It operates a cooked and chilled food facility, a unit that prepares and transports all regular and special diet meals to the Potosi Correctional Center, Farmington Correctional Center and Missouri Eastern Correctional Centers and the St. Louis Community Release Center. NPR reported an outbreak of COVID-19 cases at the facility in August 2021. Universal testing for COVID-19 had not occurred since August 2020 even though ERDCC is an intake facility for prisoners brought in from county jails which do not have the same testing, quarantine and isolation protocols as the DOC. Severe staffing shortage caused inmates to be held on extended and frequent lockdowns, unable to leave their cells, not even for medical appointments.

Hazel Run is a stream in northeastern St. Francois County in the U.S. state of Missouri. It is a tributary of the Terre Bleue Creek. The stream headwaters arise northeast of the community of Hazel Run and it flows west passing about one-half mile north of Hazel Run to its confluence with Terre Bleue Creek about three quarters of a mile northeast of that stream's confluence with Big River.The source area is at 37°57′03″N 90°26′41″W and the confluence is at 37°56′55″N 90°29′35″W.Hazel Run was so named on account of hazel trees near its course.

Bonne Terre ( bon-TAIR) is a city in St. Francois County, Missouri, United States with a population of 6,864 at the 2010 census. Situated in the Southeast Missouri Lead District, lead mining shaped the history and character of the area from the earliest French settlers in the 1720s until today, even though Bonne Terre Mine established by St. Joseph lead mining company in 1864 closed in 1962. Mine tailing piles eroded, and contaminated the area as dust, posing residential hazards or were washed into the Big River. Only in 1992, the Bonne Terre Mine Tailings Site was listed as a Superfund Site; as of 2022 remediation is still ongoing. The Bonne Terre Depot from 1909, the St. Joe Lead Company Administration Building and the Bonne Terre Mine, are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The latter is spring water filled and became a scuba diving attraction. Bonne Terre is also home to the Eastern Reception, Diagnostic and Correctional Center, a 3000 bed prison of adult males who may have substance abuse issues or are mentally disabled, where Missouri has conducted all of its executions since April 2005.

St. Francois State Park is a public recreation area occupying 2,735 acres (1,107 ha) of land five miles (8.0 km) north of Bonne Terre in St. Francois County, Missouri. The state park features a campground, trails for hiking and horseback riding, and fishing on the Big River. The 49-acre (20 ha) Coonville Creek Natural Area, made up of Coonville Creek and its narrow valley, is found within the park's boundaries.

St. Joe Lead Company Administration Building, also known as the St. Joe Company Offices, Central Office Building, is a historic office building located at Bonne Terre, St. Francois County, Missouri. It was built in 1909 by the St. Joe Lead Company, and is a 2+1⁄2-story, H-shaped, Gothic Revival style brick building with granite trim. It features pointed arched entrances, bay windows and bi-chromatic decoration.: 2, 6 It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

The Mississippi River & Bonne Terre Railway (M.R. & B.T.) was a single-track standard-gauge steam railroad that was located in southeastern Missouri and began service in 1892. It extended from Riverside in a general southwesterly direction to the lead-mining field in St. Francois County. The main stem, from Riverside to Doe Run, was 46.492 miles (74.822 km) long. Eight short branch lines had a total trackage of 17.418 miles (28.032 km). Sidings and spurs aggregated 30.664 miles (49.349 km), and all tracks owned 94.574 miles (152.202 km).

Bonne Terre Depot, also known as the Mississippi River and Bonne Terre Railway Depot, is a historic train station located at Bonne Terre, St. Francois County, Missouri. It was built in 1909 by the Mississippi River and Bonne Terre Railway, and is a 2 1/2-story, Queen Anne / Stick style frame building on an ashlar foundation. It has a hipped roof with dormers and features a round, conical-roofed tower and encircling verandah with bell-cast profile.: 2, 6  The building has been renovated as a bed and breakfast inn. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

Bonne Terre Mine, also known as the St. Joseph Lead Mine at Bonne Terre, is a historic lead mine located at Bonne Terre, St. Francois County, Missouri. Bonne Terre Mine was built starting in 1864 by the St. Joe Lead Company, and is located below the city of Bonne Terre. The mine closed in 1962.: 2 It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.Since its closure it has gradually filled up with rain and springwater, and is called "the largest man made cavern in the world". Surface, belowground and underwater tours are possible. Surface tour features a mining museum, barbershop and post office. In 1983, Jacques Cousteau s Calypso crew explored the mine for a documentary. Since then the underwater experience has been billed as one of "Americas largest scuba diving resorts" or "the world's largest fresh water dive resort".
