Rockshire is a small community located in Rockville in Montgomery County, Maryland. It neighbors Fallsmead, Woodley Gardens, and Willows of Potomac. Fallsmead Elementary School, Lakewood Elementary School, Robert Frost Middle School, and Thomas Sprigg Wootton High School are all in Rockshire.

The Latvian Museum in Rockville, Maryland has as its mission the preservation and communication of Latvian history and culture and the history of Latvians in the United States. The Museum is housed in facilities that include the national headquarters of the American Latvian Association as well as the Latvian Evangelical Lutheran church and Latvian Saturday school which serve the Latvian American community in the greater Washington D.C. area.

Falls Road Local Park (also locally referred to as Hadley’s Park) is an urban park located in Potomac, Maryland. The park covers twenty acres acquired by Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) in 1986. The park contains multi-purpose playing fields used for recreational and sporting events such as soccer, baseball/softball, football, picnics and small fairs. A playground named Hadley’s Park was created in 1999, designed to be used by both able-bodied and special needs children.

The Frieda Fromm-Reichmann Cottage is a historic house located at 19 Thomas Street in Rockville, Montgomery County, Maryland. It was built in 1936 to house the residence and professional office of Frieda Fromm-Reichmann, one of the leading psychoanalysts at the Chestnut Lodge psychiatric hospital, on whose grounds it stood. Fromm-Reichmann (1899-1957) was influential in the development of interpersonal psychoanalysis and its use in the treatment of schizophrenia. The cottage was designated a National Historic Landmark in 2021.

Chestnut Lodge (formerly known as Woodlawn Hotel) was a historic building in Rockville, Maryland, United States, well known as a psychiatric institution. Located at 500 W Montgomery Avenue, it was a contributing property to the West Montgomery Avenue Historic District.

The Bingham-Brewer House is a historic home located at Rockville, Montgomery County, Maryland, United States. It is a two-story, Federal style brick house, with a Flemish Bond front facade, dating to 1821. Also on the property is a late-19th century smokehouse, privy, and a late-19th or early-20th century chicken house.The Bingham-Brewer House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

The West Montgomery Avenue Historic District is a national historic district located at Rockville, Montgomery County, Maryland. It is a residential area with single-family homes predominating. The majority of the properties within the district date from the 1880s, with a few older homes and somewhat more from later periods. The predominant character of the district is set by the rows of Victorian houses built between 1880 and 1900 in a vernacular residential mode with Eastlake and Stick Style influences. Also included in the district are attorneys' offices; churches and parsonages; a funeral home; the former Woodlawn Hotel, later called the Chestnut Lodge Sanitarium (destroyed by fire, June 7, 2009); and the headquarters of the Montgomery County Historical Society.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.

New Mark Commons is a historic planned development in Rockville, Maryland. It consists of a residential area south of Maryland Avenue and east of Interstate 270, and is accessed via Potomac Valley Road and New Mark Esplanade. It was planned and built as a collaborative effort by the architectural firm Keyes, Lethbridge & Condon and builder Edmund J. Bennett, and was built between 1967 and 1973. Its design includes winding roads in a wooded landscape, with many cul-de-sacs, and pedestrian paths for connecting residential areas to recreational amenities.The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2017.

The Universities at Shady Grove began in 1992 as part of the University of Maryland University College. In 2000, it reformed under its present name. Daytime, evening and weekend classes are offered at Shady Grove to students studying in 80 undergraduate, graduate, degree and certificate programs. Established in 2000, The Universities at Shady Grove (USG) is a regional higher education center of the University System of Maryland that offers students access to undergraduate and graduate degree programs from nine universities on one campus in Rockville, Maryland. There is no separate application for USG; prospective students seeking to enroll in a program at USG apply directly to the university offering their desired program. Students are taught by the same professors, take the same courses, and have the same curriculum as students enrolled in that program at their university's main campus. Students take their classes at USG, but earn their degree from the university offering their program. There is an on-campus library, the Shannon and Michael Priddy Library.

Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center is a 266-licensed bed acute care facility located in Rockville, Maryland. Shady Grove Medical Center provides a range of health services to the community such as high-risk obstetrical care, cardiac and vascular care, oncology services, orthopedic care, surgical services and pediatric care. Opened in 1979 as Shady Grove Adventist Hospital, Shady Grove Medical Center operates as part of Adventist HealthCare, a health-care delivery system that includes hospitals, home health agencies and other health-care services. Adventist HealthCare is headquartered in Gaithersburg, Maryland. John Sackett joined Shady Grove Medical Center as president in April 2013.Shady Grove Medical Center is located within a 600-acre Life Sciences Center (LSC), which has Montgomery County's largest concentration of advanced technology companies including the hospital, Johns Hopkins University-Montgomery County Campus (JHU-MCC), the Universities at Shady Grove and biotechnology companies.As part of the Shady Grove Life Sciences Campus, the hospital established a partnership in 2008 with the Universities at Shady Grove and Salisbury University to offer a bachelor's degree in respiratory therapy at the USG campus in Rockville. It also hosts nursing students from surrounding community colleges such as Montgomery College.

The Beall–Dawson House is a historic home located at Rockville, Montgomery County, Maryland, United States. It is a 2+1⁄2-story Federal house, three bays wide by two deep, constructed of Flemish bond brick on the front facade and common bond elsewhere. Outbuildings on the property include an original brick dairy house and a mid-19th century one-room Gothic Revival frame doctor's office which was moved to the site for use as a museum. The house was constructed in 1815. It serves as the headquarters of the Montgomery County Historical Society which maintains the house as an early 19th-century period historic house museum. The house also include indoor slave quarters, and two rooms with changing exhibits of local history. The Beall–Dawson House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.The property also includes the Stonestreet Museum of 19th Century Medicine, a one-room doctor's office with medical and pharmaceutical tools, furniture, and books from the 19th and early 20th centuries.
