Taney County is a county in the southwestern portion of the U.S. state of Missouri. As of the 2020 census, the population was 56,066. Its county seat is Forsyth. It is included in the Branson, Missouri, Micropolitan Statistical Area. Taney County was officially organized on January 4, 1837, and named in honor of Roger Brooke Taney, the fifth Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, best known for delivering the infamous majority opinion in Dred Scott v. Sandford. However, unlike Roger B. Taney, who pronounced his name /ˈtɔːni/, the "Taney" in Taney County is generally pronounced /ˈteɪni/. The county includes the popular tourist destinations Branson and Table Rock, Taneycomo and Bull Shoals lakes.

Kissee Mills (pronounced "Kiz-zē' Mills") is a census-designated place in Taney County, Missouri, United States. It is located on U.S. Route 160, approximately five miles east of Forsyth. Kissee Mills is part of the Branson, Missouri Micropolitan Statistical Area.

Mildred is an unincorporated community in Taney County, in the Ozarks of southern Missouri. Mildred is located on Missouri Route 76, south of Forsyth and east of Kirbyville.

KWBM (channel 31) is a religious television station licensed to Harrison, Arkansas, United States, serving the Springfield, Missouri, area as an owned-and-operated station of the Daystar Television Network. It is the only full-power television station in the Springfield market that is licensed in Arkansas. KWBM's offices are located on Enterprise Avenue in southeast Springfield, and its transmitter is located in rural Taney County, just northeast of Forsyth.

Swan Creek Bridge was a historic Pratt truss bridge located at Forsyth, Taney County, Missouri. It was built in 1914 by the Canton Bridge Company as one span of a double span highway bridge. The span was moved to a location at Swan Creek in 1932. It was destroyed in 1989.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983 and delisted in 1994.

Swan Creek is a stream in the Ozarks of southern Missouri. It is a tributary of the White River downstream from the Lake Taneycomo dam.The stream headwaters are at coordinates: 37°01′01″N 92°48′55″W in northwest Douglas County just southwest of the intersection of Missouri Route 14 and Missouri Route AK at an elevation of about 1640 feet. The stream flows generally west passing Ongo and Honey Branch Cave before leaving Douglas County. After entering Christian County just southwest of Ongo, the stream flows southwest past Keltner and then turns south a short distance east of Chadwick. The stream flows south and is bridged by Missouri Route 125 just east of Garrison. The stream flows southwest and is bridged by Missouri Route AA just southeast of the community of Swan. The stream continues to the south-southwest through incised meanders until reaching its confluence with the White River just east of Forsyth at Shadow Rock Park at coordinates: 36°40′57″N 93°06′20″W.

Swan Township is an active township in Taney County, in the U.S. state of Missouri.Swan Township was founded in 1839, taking its name from Swan Creek.

Powersite is an unincorporated community in Taney County, Missouri, United States. It is located across Lake Taneycomo from Forsyth on the southeast end of Powersite Dam. The community is part of the Branson, Missouri Micropolitan Statistical Area. A post office called Powersite has been in operation since 1913. The community most likely took its name from nearby Powersite Dam.

Powersite Dam is a hydroelectric dam that went into service in 1913 in Forsyth, Missouri. It is found along the White River, and the reservoir it forms is Lake Taneycomo. It was the first hydroelectric dam built in Missouri. Designed in 1911 by Nils F. Ambursen as the largest concrete buttress dam of its kind, the dam is still privately owned by the Empire District Electric Company. Originally constructed to provide 4 megawatts of 25 hertz power, it has since been upgraded to provide 16 megawatts of 60 hertz power. Sixty hertz is now the standard frequency of electric power in North America, though the old 25 hertz power distribution was more efficient, having less losses.

McFarland is an extinct town in Taney County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. The community was on Swan Creek approximately two miles north of Forsyth.A post office called McFarland was established in 1901, and remained in operation until 1911. The community has the name of one Mr. McFarland, the original owner of the town site.

Dickens is an unincorporated community in north central Taney County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. The community is located on Missouri Route 76, approximately one mile southwest of Taneyville and 4.5 miles northeast of Forsyth.
