Alexandra is a subzone region located in the town of Bukit Merah, Singapore. The region comprises two non contiguous neighbourhoods: Alexendra Hill and Alexendra North. It is located along the road which the place had its name derived from, at the eastern border of the Queenstown district. Alexandra North, which refers to the precinct near Redhill MRT station, consists mainly of condominiums together with a park. Alexandra Hill, which is often referred to as Brickworks Estate or Rumah Tinggi, mainly consists of HDB flats and is also home to an IKEA showroom. There is also a shopping centre in the district which recently opened its doors in 2016, Alexandra Central, beside the IKEA building. There is also the historical Alexandra Hospital, located near the region.

The British Military Hospital, Singapore (now Alexandra Hospital) was the primary military hospital for the British Far East Command and site of a massacre in February 1942 by the Japanese troops during the Fall of Singapore.Established in 1938 and officially opened in July 1940, the facility was located four miles west of Singapore at 378 Alexandra Road, and known as Alexandra Hospital for the nearby park of the same name. After years of planning, the 356-bed hospital opened with some of the best medical facilities in Asia, including then-groundbreaking X-ray equipment. Six years after Singapore's 1965 independence, with the British military withdrawing from the country, the hospital was handed over to the Singaporean Ministry of Health on 11 September 1971 and officially reopened four days later as Alexandra Road General Hospital. At its the height, the hospital adopted cutting-edge medical technology and in 1975 was the first in South East Asia to successfully reattach a patient's limb.Today, Alexandra Hospital is part of the National University of Singapore Medical School.

Queensway Shopping Centre is a shopping centre located in Queenstown, Singapore. The mall is one of Singapore's first multi-purpose shopping complexes and comprises 4 levels with a 1-storey basement car park. The mall is also a mixed development which includes a 13-storey apartment tower. Established in 1976, it is one of the oldest malls in Singapore.

The Police Tactical Unit (PTU) is a paramilitary specialist unit of the Singapore Police Force and comes under the direct command of the Special Operations Command. Based in Queenstown, it is the main anti-rioting and disaster-management unit of the police force. They are also called upon to handle cases of serious crime in progress, particularly cases involving firearms. From 2004, PTU officers also presented greater public prominence when they conducted patrols in public areas, such as at Orchard Road, Holland Village and Serangoon Gardens Estate, partly as a response to greater terrorism concerns.

The Special Tactics and Rescue (STAR) is a tactical unit of the Singapore Police Force (SPF), tasked to provide a tactical armed-response capability, and specialises in counter-terrorism and hostage rescue operations in Singapore.

The Police National Service Full-time Light Strike Force (PNSF LSF) was part of Special Operations Command, a division of Singapore Police Force, located at Queensway Base in Singapore from 1998 to 2005.

Lee Kim Lai (1960 – 25 April 1978) was a police officer who was murdered on 25 April 1978 for his service revolver by three men. A serving Police National Serviceman, he was performing sentry duty at the Police Reserve Unit 1 base of the Singapore Police Force at Mount Vernon when he was abducted from the front gate and forced into a taxi. His body was later found with multiple stab wounds in the abandoned taxi, the driver of which was also killed.

Queensway Base is the headquarters that is home to the Special Operations Command (SOC), a front line department of the Singapore Police Force (SPF). It is situated directly across Queensway, and was formerly the Old Queenstown Police Station. Units such as Police Light Strike Force, Police KINS Training Camp, Police Tactical Unit, STAR (Special Tactics And Rescue) unit and some SOC units are located here.

The Crisis Negotiation Unit (CNU) is a specialist unit of the Singapore Police Force under the umbrella of the Special Operations Command. Its teams of specially trained police officers are called upon to defuse life-threatening situations through verbal crisis negotiation techniques for a non-violent resolution.Officers from the CNU were deployed overseas for the first time to aid in the handling of victims' families and relatives as a result of the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake.

Tiong Ghee Temple is a Taoist temple on Stirling Road in Queenstown, Singapore. It is the oldest Taoist temple in Queenstown.

The Regional Cooperation Agreement on Combating Piracy and Armed Robbery against Ships in Asia, abbreviated as ReCAAP or RECAAP, is a multilateral agreement between 16 countries in Asia, concluded in November 2004 and includes the RECAAP Information Sharing Centre (ISC), an initiative for facilitating the dissemination of piracy-related information.To date, twenty one countries in various parts of the world have ratified the ReCAAP agreement.

Depot Road Zhen Shan Mei Claypot Laksa is a street food stall in the Alexandra Village Food Centre in Alexandra Village, Singapore. The food stall was awarded the Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2016.
