Dr. Joseph P. and Effie Porth House, also known as the William Porth House and Colonial Tea Room, is a historic home located at Jefferson City, Cole County, Missouri. The original building was built between 1827 and 1842, and the mansard roof was added between 1885 and 1888. It is a square two-story limestone house with partial walkout basement on the front facade. It features a bracketed cornice and an iron balcony between the basement and first floor.: 5 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.

Herman Haar House, also known as the Haar-Bergman House and Byrd House, is a historic home located at Jefferson City, Cole County, Missouri. It was built about 1859, and is a 1+1⁄2-story, four-bay, Missouri-German Vernacular brick dwelling. It has a gable roof and two front doors. It was moved in 1986 to its present location.: 5 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.

The Missouri State Library (MSL) is the official State Library of Missouri located in Jefferson City, Missouri. MSL provides library and reference services directly to the executive and legislative branches of the state's government. They support libraries in Missouri with resource sharing and continuing education programs as well as oversee state certification for public libraries. They also oversee Missouri Digital Heritage with the Missouri State Archives.They publish the Missouri Public Library Standards, maintain a directory of all the libraries in the state, the Wolfner News, and an e-newsletter called the Show Me Express. They also create reference guides for other state agencies in Missouri. The Wolfner Talking Book and Braille Library is housed within the State Library and offers free library services to anyone who is unable to read print materials.

The Senator Roy Blunt Bridge is a twin continuous through arch truss bridge over the Missouri River at Jefferson City, Missouri, which carry U.S. Routes 54 (US 54) and 63 between Cole County and Callaway County. Before being officially named for former Missouri Senator Roy Blunt in 2022, the bridge was known as the Jefferson City Bridge.As of 2018, the combined bridges see approximately 29,000 vehicle traversals per day.

The Missouri House of Representatives is the lower chamber of the Missouri General Assembly. It has 163 members, representing districts with an average size of 37,000 residents. House members are elected for two-year terms during general elections held in even-numbered years. Missouri's house is the fourth largest in the United States even as the state ranks 18th in population. The only states with a larger lower house in the United States are New Hampshire (400), Pennsylvania (203) and Georgia (180). Republicans have controlled the State House since 2003.The next election will be held in 2024.

Tergin Apartment Building, also known as Tergin Apartments , is a historic apartment building located at Jefferson City, Cole County, Missouri. It was built in 1938–1939, and is a two-story brick walkup apartment building with a full basement. It measures 50 feet wide by 35 feet deep and features Art Deco and Streamline Moderne design elements.: 5 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999. It is located in the Missouri State Capitol Historic District.

The Missouri State Capitol is the home of the Missouri General Assembly and the executive branch of government of the U.S. state of Missouri. Located in Jefferson City at 201 West Capitol Avenue, it is the third capitol to be built in the city. (The previous two were demolished after they were damaged by fire.) The domed building, designed by the New York City architectural firm of Tracy and Swartwout, was completed in 1917.The capitol’s dome is the first thing travelers see when approaching Jefferson City from the north. In addition to the state Senate and House of Representatives, the capitol also contains offices of the governor, lieutenant governor, secretary of state, state treasurer, state auditor, and some administrative agencies. It is individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a contributing property in the Missouri State Capitol Historic District.

Albert and Wilhelmina Thomas House, also known as the Walter A. Schroeder House, is a historic home located in Jefferson City, Cole County, Missouri. It was originally built in 1874 as the German Methodist Episcopal Church. In 1930, the church was altered to a 2+1⁄2-story, three-bay, two family flat with an eclectic style. It is a stuccoed brick building with a steeply pitched roof.: 5 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.

The Missouri Senate is the upper chamber of the Missouri General Assembly. It has 34 members, representing districts with an average population of 181,000. Its members serve four-year terms, with half the seats being up for election every two years. The Senate chooses a President Pro Tempore to serve in the absence of the lieutenant governor or when he shall have to exercise the office of governor of Missouri if there is a vacancy in that office due to death, resignation, impeachment, or incapacitation.Members of the Missouri General Assembly are prohibited from serving more than eight years in either the state house of representatives or state senate, or a total of sixteen years, due to statutory term limits.Elections were held in 2022.

The Missouri State Museum is Missouri's showpiece museum. It was founded in 1919 and is located in Jefferson City, Missouri, inside the state capitol on the ground floor of the building.The museum's mission is to explore Missouri's history and resources to discover connections that inspire the present and enrich the future. Visitors will find a variety of cultural and natural history exhibits including temporary exhibits, stationary exhibits, traveling exhibits, and hands-on and audio interactive. The museum offers a variety of free in-house public programming, outreach programming and traveling exhibits geared toward all ages and audiences. The museum has over 30,000 artifacts in its collection, including the largest collections of Missouri Civil War battle flags and World War I flags.The history wing of the museum was originally the only part of the museum and is now in the eastern wing of the capitol building. In 1921, the Missouri Resources Museum was founded and placed in the wing directly opposite the state museum in the west wing of the capitol. The two merged in 1923 to form the Missouri State Museum. The museum was controlled by a variety of state agencies until 1978. In that year the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (DNR) took control of the museum where it has remained ever since. It is now part of DNR's Division of State Parks. The museum staff also provides tours of the capitol building itself.

Missouri State Board of Education (MSBE) is Missouri's board of education, headquartered in Jefferson City. The board of education is established in Article IX, Section 2a of the Missouri Constitution. The eight members of the Board of Education are elected to staggered eight-year terms. The Board serves as the state-level governing body for career and technical education programs provided by local school districts, community colleges and four-year institutions and helps determine educational policy for the state's primary and secondary schools.
