Ringland is both a community (civil parish) and electoral ward of the city of Newport, South Wales. The community is bounded by Ringland Way to the east, the southern boundary of Llanwern High School to the south, Balfe Rd, Aberthaw Rd, Ringland Circle, Ringwood Avenue, across Chepstow Rd, Mountbatten close and behind Chiltern Close and Glanwern Grove to the west and the M4 motorway to the north. Most of the houses and flats and shopping centre were built by the local council during the 1950s and 1960s, most of houses have generous sized gardens. Ringland is close to junction 24 of the motorway also 12 minutes drive from Newport Railway Station. Ringland has green spaces around the area including Ringland Wood run by the Woodland Trust.Plans were announced in 2017 to demolish maisonettes in Ringland Centre and Cot Farm and replace them with modern homes, designed to a masterplan by Powell Dobson architects and developed by Newport City Homes.It is home to the 5-star Celtic Manor Resort on the north side of the M4. There were plans proposed in 2015 to invest in improvements to the shopping centre.In 2017 a permanent site for travellers or gypsies was created on Hartridge Farm Road. Archaeological remains dating from the Iron Age and Roman periods were found during the development.

The Celtic Classic was a professional golf tournament held 13 to 16 August 2020 on the Twenty-Ten Course at the Celtic Manor Resort, in Newport, Wales. The tournament was a one-off event and was the fourth leg of a six-week UK swing on the European Tour during the 2020 season. It was followed by a revival of the Wales Open at the same venue. The UK swing was created as part of sweeping changes to the tour's schedule due to the COVID-19 pandemic.On the first day of the tournament it was announced that Alexander Lévy had become the first European Tour player to return a positive test for COVID-19. He and Romain Wattel, who had been in close contact with Lévy, were withdrawn from the field.The winner was Sam Horsfield, who finished two strokes ahead of Thomas Detry to claim his second European Tour victory in the space of three weeks, having secured his maiden title at the Hero Open earlier in the month.

The Wales Open was a professional golf tournament on the European Tour played at the Celtic Manor Resort. It was played annually from 2000 to 2014, as part of a 15-year deal between the tour and the Celtic Manor Resort, that included staging the 2010 Ryder Cup. The event was not held from 2015 to 2019 but returned in 2020, following a revamp of the European Tour because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 38th Ryder Cup was held 1–4 October 2010 at the Celtic Manor Resort in Newport, Wales. It was the 17th time the Ryder Cup had been staged in Britain, but the first time in Wales. It was played on the newly constructed Twenty Ten course, specifically designed for the event. The team captains were Colin Montgomerie for Europe and Corey Pavin for the United States. With the U.S. as the defending champion, Europe won by a score of 141⁄2 to 131⁄2 and regained the Cup. It was Europe's sixth victory in the last eight contests and their fourth consecutive home win. The event was plagued by bad weather with play having to be suspended twice. Having taken a 3-point lead into the singles matches Europe faced a U.S. fightback and the conclusion of the Ryder Cup 2010 went right down to the anchor match between Graeme McDowell and Hunter Mahan. Eventually McDowell defeated Mahan 3 & 1 to regain the Cup for Europe.The competition was officially opened by Carwyn Jones, First Minister for Wales.

Celtic Manor Resort is a golf, spa and leisure hotel and resort in the city of Newport, South East Wales. Owned by Sir Terry Matthews, the resort is located on the south-facing side of Christchurch Hill in eastern Newport, near Junction 24 of the M4 motorway. The golf courses run over the north-facing side of Christchurch Hill down into the Vale of Usk, overlooking the Wentwood escarpment. The resort's area is circa 2,000 acres (810 ha).Formerly the site of several Roman roads, the site's redevelopment has been overseen on occasion by the Glamorgan-Gwent Archaeological Trust. The location has been occupied since at least 1634, when it was a residence. A manor house was built in 1860 and it passed through multiple tenants, was expanded circa 1915, and was the location of a hospital between 1940 and 1975. In 1980, Matthews (who had been born at the hospital) bought and financed the refurbishment and expansion of the manor house, and it opened as the Celtic Manor Hotel in 1982. The hotel was continually redeveloped throughout the next decades. In 2010, the resort hosted the 2010 Ryder Cup and in 2014, the resort hosted the 2014 NATO summit. The Wales Open is played at the site annually. The properties consist of four hotels, a country inn, luxury lodges, two spas, six restaurants, three championship golf courses, two golf and country clubhouses, high ropes courses, adventure golf, laser tag, archery and the International Convention Centre Wales.

The International Convention Centre Wales (ICC Wales) (Welsh: Canolfan Gynadledda Rhyngwladol Cymru) is a 5,000-capacity venue in the city of Newport, Wales. The venue has a main auditorium with fixed seating for 1,500 delegates, six rooms of exhibition space, and 43,000 sq ft (4,000 m2) of pillar-free space. ICC Wales is located on the Celtic Manor Resort site which hosted the 2010 Ryder Cup and 2014 NATO summit. The venue is a public/private enterprise with Welsh Government providing £22.5m grant funding and taking a 50/50 share of ownership with Celtic Manor.

Treberth is a suburb within the electoral ward of Ringland, Newport. Treberth used to be a Post War Development in Ringland, Newport until the prefabs were demolished and modern housing was built in its place many years after they had been built.

Bishpool is a suburb within the electoral ward of Ringland, Newport. It lies to the western side of Ringland. Its facilities include Bishpool Methodist Church, Bishpool Dairy, and The Man of Gwent. With modern housing, it has a population of 400.

Christchurch (Welsh: Eglwys y Drindod) is a village located at the top of Christchurch Hill in the Caerleon ward and community of the city of Newport, South Wales. The top of the hill affords panoramic views both towards the Bristol Channel in the south and through the Vale of Usk and into the Monmouthshire countryside to the north. The road, which runs along the crest of the hill, runs westwards to Newport and eastwards towards Caerleon and Catsash. The parish church is Holy Trinity. Christchurch has a modern purpose-built village hall and the Christchurch Music Society is a vibrant amateur musical theatre group. Due to its elevated position, the hill is home to the Christchurch transmitter, located near the Celtic Manor Resort. The church has a Norman doorway with columns five feet high. The axis of the chancel is set in a more southerly direction to that of the nave. In the churchyard is the grave of Captain William Howe, skipper of the packet "Welsh Prince", which is portrayed in a carving at the head of his tombstone.

The Archdiocese of Cardiff (Latin: Archidioecesis Cardiffensis; Welsh: Archesgobaeth Caerdydd) is a Latin archdiocese of the Catholic Church which covers the south-east portion of Wales and the county of Herefordshire in England. The Metropolitan Province of Cardiff therefore covers all of Wales and part of England. Cardiff's suffragan dioceses are the Diocese of Menevia and the Diocese of Wrexham.

Llanwern High School is a secondary school on the eastern edge of Newport, Wales. The school has a capacity for 1450 pupils.

Bulmore or Bullmoor (Welsh: Y Pwll Mawr) is a hamlet in the south-east of the Caerleon ward of the city of Newport, South Wales. The name is derived from the Welsh Y Pwll Mawr meaning The Large Pool. It was first settled by the Romans.In 1934 an area of land forming part of Bulmore Farm was purchased and an open-air swimming pool known as Bulmore Lido which was built and opened in July of that year. Situated alongside the River Usk, the 8½ acre complex comprising large adult pool and smaller children's pool with adjoining lawns, became Newport's favourite "out-of-town resort".
