Citigroup Centre, Sydney

The Criterion Theatre was a theatre in Sydney, Australia which was built in 1886 by architect George R Johnson on the south east corner of Pitt and Park streets. It closed in 1935 and the building was demolished.

The Australian Institute of Music – Dramatic Arts (AIMDA), formerly known as the Australian Academy of Dramatic Arts (AADA), is a drama school in Sydney. It offers a degree in acting and theatre-making as a department of the Australian Institute of Music (AIM).

The Sydney School of Arts building, now the Arthouse Hotel, is a heritage-listed meeting place, restaurant and bar, and former mechanics' institute, located at 275-277a Pitt Street in the Sydney central business district in the City of Sydney local government area of New South Wales, Australia. It was designed by John Verge and built from 1830 to 1861. It is also known as Sydney Mechanics' School of Arts. It was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999.

The Pitt Street Uniting Church is a heritage-listed Uniting church building located at 264 Pitt Street in the Sydney central business district, Australia. Founded in 1833, the congregation was the original church of Congregationalism in New South Wales. The church building was designed by John Bibb and built from 1841 to 1846. It is also known as Pitt Street Congregational Church. The property is owned by The Uniting Church in Australia and was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999.

The Galeries is a shopping centre in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It was formerly known as The Galeries Victoria until renamed in early 2013. It is located in the heart of the Sydney central business district, bounded by George, Pitt and Park Streets. The shopping centre sits below the Citigroup Centre office tower and beside the Sydney Hilton Hotel. The site on which The Galeries now stands was originally the Murdochs department store, later the flagship Waltons department store. The Waltons store was demolished in 1983, and the site sat vacant for years after the owner Alan Bond suffered major losses from the investment in Waltons. The new development, incorporating the high-rise Citigroup Centre and the Galeries Victoria as a podium, was completed in 2000. The Galeries is a four level shopping centre, that features a series of covered laneways running throughout with bridges between buildings and a central piazza area. The centre also incorporates the historic Sydney Mechanics' School of Arts, which is now the Arthouse Hotel. The centre includes direct access to Town Hall railway station via underground passageways at the southern end, adjacent to a passageway that leads to the Queen Victoria Building. A station on the Sydney Monorail was also incorporated into the centre until the monorail closed in 2013. The Citigroup Centre and combined Galeries was designed by Crone Partners Architecture Studios.

Cloud Arch is a proposed public artwork by Junya Ishigami for George Street, Sydney. The sculpture is proposed to be a ribbon of twisted, white stainless steel, representing the shape of a cloud, originally designed to be 58 metres (190 ft) tall and with a span of 53 metres (174 ft). It is intended to "frame" the Sydney Town Hall, and be visible from all approach directions as part of the pedestrianisation of the street. A light rail line running up George Street is under construction and would run through the arch. The feet of Cloud Arch will be placed on diagonally opposite corners of one of Sydney's busiest intersections, George and Park Street; the sculpture will stand among the Town Hall, the Queen Victoria Building, and The Galeries Victoria. Originally it was to be installed in 2019 but due to the increased costs ($22m, over the initial estimate of $9m) and disputes about site access during the construction of the light rail, planning for the project was postponed until 2020.

The Palace Theatre was a theatre located on Pitt Street in the Sydney central business district. It was built in 1896 by businessman George Adams as a supplement to his Tattersall's Hotel next door. The theatre hosted live performances until the 1930s, when it was converted to a cinema. It was later switched back and forth between movies and live shows, until it closed in 1969. The building was demolished in 1970. The theatre's former lot is now covered by the Hilton Sydney.

The Statue of Queen Victoria, currently in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, was made by John Hughes in 1908 and was originally located in Dublin. Made of bronze, it is situated on the corner of Druitt and George Street in front of the Queen Victoria Building. It was the last royal statue to have been erected in Ireland.

Prince Edward Theatre was a picture theatre on Elizabeth and Castlereagh streets, Sydney, erected for the Carroll-Musgrove partnership of Harry G. Musgrove (died 27 April 1951) and brothers Edward and Dan Carroll) with financial backing from George Marlow in 1923. Architects were Robertson & Marks, with technical assistance from Thomas W. Lamb, the American picture theatre designer.Described as Australia's "first cathedral of motion pictures", it opened on 22 November 1924. The first film shown was The Ten Commandments In the era of silent film, the live sound accompanying a film was important to its success. The Prince Edward Concert Orchestra, of up to 21 players, was initially conducted by Will Prior (–1948), and followed 1927–1936 by Albert Cazabon, father of actor John Cazabon. The orchestra pit was raised or lowered by hydraulic lifts according to requirements. A Wurlitzer theatre organ, which could be used to either augment or replace the orchestra, was opened in February 1925 with Eddie Horton (1893–) at the console.The Prince Edward was regarded as unique in its elaborate sophistication until 1928, when the Regent, Capitol and State theatres opened or were refurbished in competition. The theatre closed on 4 December 1965 and was subsequently demolished. The final film shown was a re-run of the 1956 classic, War and Peace.

Marble Bar is an historic bar in Sydney, Australia. Originally constructed in the George Adams-owned O'Brien Hotel in 1893, it was dismantled in 1969, then moved and rebuilt in the subterranean level of the Hilton Sydney, on George Street, in 1973. It is now a heritage-listed building.The bar was designed by Varney Parkes. Its features include plate-glass mirrors, mosaic floors, cedar timbers, a domed roof, stained-glass windows and marble walls and pilasters. Fourteen paintings by Julian Ashton are hung throughout. The only differences to the original bar is the lack of natural light, and the location of the paintings is different.
