Woodup Pool in Tollesbury, Essex (also known as Woodrolfe Pool) is a salt-water pond or lake used as an open-air swimming pool or amenity pool.

Tollesbury Pier railway station was a short-lived terminus of an extension of the Kelvedon and Tollesbury Light Railway, serving Tollesbury's pier on the River Blackwater in Essex. The station was opened in 1907. The station was 10 miles 8 chains (16.25 km) from Kelvedon Low Level railway station. The c. 1.5-mile extension from the existing terminus at Tollesbury to Tollesbury Pier never brought the expected traffic. During World War I the pier was used for troop training on the river and was subsequently closed to passengers in 1921. The government took over the pier during World War II and erected defences along it.

MV Ross Revenge is a radio ship, the home of Radio Caroline, as well as having supported Radio Monique and various religious broadcasters. Funded by the Icelandic government, she was constructed in Bremerhaven in 1960 and served as an Icelandic commercial trawler until 1963 when she was sold to the Ross Group fleet, notably taking part in the Cod Wars of the 1970s. Following her decommissioning, she was purchased by Radio Caroline and outfitted as a radio ship, complete with 300-foot (91 m) antenna mast and 50 kW transmitter. Her broadcasts began on 20 August 1983; her final pirate broadcast took place in November 1990. She ran aground on the Goodwin Sands in November 1991, bringing the era of offshore pirate radio in Europe to an end. She was, however, salvaged, and is now maintained by the Caroline Support Group, a group of supporters and enthusiasts.

Great Cob island is a small island in the estuary of the River Blackwater in Essex, England, the United Kingdom. The island is an area of low-lying salt marsh in the tidal channel known as Virley Channel that runs to the east of the village of Tollesbury. Long and narrow in shape, it is around 900 metres (3,000 ft) in length and around 100 metres (330 ft) at its widest. It lies just to the south of the RSPB nature reserve of Old Hall Marshes.

Abbotts Hall Farm is a 282 hectare nature reserve in Great Wigborough in Essex. It is the head office of the Essex Wildlife Trust, which manages the site. It is also part of the Blackwater Estuary National Nature Reserve, Site of Special Scientific Interest, Ramsar site, Special Protection Area and Special Area of Conservation, It is an important archaeological site, and includes a Scheduled Monument, Great Wigborough henge.This is a working farm which is managed to encourage wildlife. Seawalls have been breached to create marshland, which has many fish, insects, invertebrates and plants which provide food for migrating birds. A new lake has also been constructed, and fields provide additional habitats for fauna such as skylarks.There is access to some areas and footpaths across others.

The village is about seven miles south of Colchester. Virley is among the villages which suffered damage from the 1884 Colchester earthquake; the village church of St Mary's was largely destroyed in the quake, though some ruins remain.

The place-name 'Wigborough' first appears in the Domesday Book of 1086, where it appears as Wicgebergha and Wighebergha. Bradwell Waterside is a small hamlet in Essex, England. It is located about 9 km (5.6 mi) north-northeast of Southminster and is 28 km (17 mi) east from the county town of Chelmsford. The hamlet is in the district of Maldon and the parliamentary constituency of Maldon & East Chelmsford. The population of the hamlet is included in the civil parish of Bradwell-on-Sea. It has a marina and is about a mile north-northwest of Bradwell-on-Sea on the Blackwater Estuary on the northern edge of the Dengie peninsula. The hamlet sits at the end of the B1021, the main road through the north of the Dengie peninsula to Latchingdon, and on the coast of Bradwell Creek, a channel next to the Blackwater. Nearby, there is the former Royal Air Force base RAF Bradwell Bay, owing to the flat land of the Dengie. Today the base is farmland. Additionally, there is the former nuclear power plant, Bradwell Power Station, a significant local and navigational landmark. The buildings themselves still stand post-decommissioning, and so does the water intake in the Blackwater. A beach runs along the north-east edge of the Dengie here, from Bradwell Waterside to the Dengie Marshes at Saint Peter's chapel. There are two pubs in Bradwell, The Green Man in the hamlet and the Marina Bar at Bradwell Marina.
