Lankill Standing Stone

Ballydonnellan (Irish: Baile Uí Dhónalláinn) is a townland in the barony of Burrishoole and civil parish of Aughagower, Ireland. It is on the R330 road between Westport and Partry. The townland is bordered to the north by Tonranny and to the northeast by Ardogommon; to the east is Coolloughra; to the south is Shanagh and to the southwest, Derrygarve. To the west is Knockfelim and Moyhastin.

The N59 road is a national secondary road in Ireland. It commences in County Sligo, south of Sligo Town at the Belladrehid interchange with the N4 north of Ballysadare. The route circles around the west of Ireland, passing west from Sligo into County Mayo and through Ballina. The N59 continues around Mayo, proceeding indirectly to Westport. Continuing south through Mayo into County Galway, the road passes through the village of Leenaun. The 182-year-old bridge in the centre of the village, carrying the road across the River Lahill, collapsed in floods on 18 July 2007. Due to the local terrain and road network, the diversionary route for getting from the south of the village to Westport was 110 km long. A temporary bridge was opened eight days after the floods, on 27 July. It has since been replaced by a new bridge. South of Leenaun, the N59 proceeds southwest through Connemara to Clifden. From there, it returns east through Maam Cross and to Oughterard, from which it proceeds southeast to Galway city. The N59 ends at a junction with the N6 at Quincentenary Bridge. At 298.795 kilometres (185.663 mi), the N59 is the longest numbered road in Ireland.

Aughagower or Aghagower (Irish: Achadh Ghobhair, meaning 'field of the spring') is a small village in rural County Mayo in western Ireland. It is located about 6 km from Westport. Aughagower has around 40 houses, 1 pub and a shop, with a clear view of Croagh Patrick from Reek View. It also forms the centre of a parish of the same name which covers an area of 86.1 square miles. The village is known for its links to Saint Patrick and Tóchar Phádraig, the pilgrimage route from Ballintubber Abbey to Croagh Patrick.

Ardogommon (Irish: Ard Ó gComáin) is a townland in the Parish of Aughagower and Barony of Burrishoole. It is bordered to the east by Meneen, to the north, to the southeast by Ballinvoy, to the south by Coolloughra, and to the southwest by Ballydonnellan. All of these are in the Parish of Aughagower. It is also bordered by two townlands in the Parish of Westport: Derrygorman to the north, and Tonranny to the west.

Westport railway station serves the town of Westport, County Mayo, Ireland. The station is the terminus station on the Dublin to Westport Rail service. Passengers to or from Galway must travel to Athlone and change trains. Passengers to or from Ballina and Foxford must travel to Manulla Junction and change trains.

It is bordered by the following townlands: to the north by Meneen, to the northwest by Ardogommon, to the east by Knockroosky, to the southeast by the Deerpark, to the southwest by Mountbrown, and to the west by Coolloughra. All of these are also in the Parish of Aughagower.

Meneen (Irish: Méinín, meaning 'a stream') is a townland in the parish of Aughagower in County Mayo, Ireland. It is bordered to the east by the townland of Dooncastle, to the West by the townland of Ardogommon, to the south by the townland of Ballinvoy, and to the southeast by the townland of Knockroosky. To the north is the townland of Derrygorman.

Westport (Irish: Cathair na Mart, meaning 'the stone fort of the beeves', historically anglicised as Cahernamart) is a town in County Mayo in Ireland. It is at the south-east corner of Clew Bay, an inlet of the Atlantic Ocean on the west coast of Ireland. Westport is a tourist destination and scores highly for quality of life. It won the Irish Tidy Towns Competition three times in 2001, 2006 and 2008. In 2012 it won the Best Place to Live in Ireland competition run by The Irish Times.Westport is designated as a heritage town, and is one of only a few planned towns in Ireland. The town centre was laid-out in the Georgian architectural style, and incorporates the Carrow Beg river into the design composition. This provides for tree lined promenades (known as The Mall) and several stone bridges. The pilgrimage mountain of Croagh Patrick, known locally as "the Reek", lies some 10 km west of the town near the villages of Murrisk and Lecanvey. The mountain forms the backdrop to the town.

Derrygorman (Irish: Doire Mhic Gormáin, meaning 'Mac Gorman's oak wood') is a townland in the civil parish of Aughagower and barony of Murrisk. It is bordered to the north (from east to west) by Drummindoo, and Sheean, to the east by Dooncastle; to the south (from east to west) by Meneen, Ardogommon, and Tonranny; and to the west by Buckwaria and Sheeroe.During the Irish War of Independence Derrygorman had an Irish Republican Army (1919-1922) Company which was part of 3 Battalion Westport. Thomas Burke of Doon, Sheeaune is listed as Captain, He was arrested in 1921 and imprisoned in the Curragh Internment Camp.

Westport House in Westport, County Mayo, Ireland, is a Georgian country house, historically the family seat of the Marquess of Sligo and the Brownes. The house was designed by the architect Richard Cassels with later additions by Thomas Ivory and James Wyatt. The title and the house were separated in 2014, following the death of Jeremy Browne, 11th Marquess of Sligo, who left the estate to his five daughters. His titles passed to his first cousin, Sebastian Ulick Browne, a residential estate agent in Australia. In 2017, the house was purchased by the Hughes family, owners of Portwest.

Dooncastle (Irish: Caisleán an Dúin, meaning 'Fort Castle') is a townland in the Parish of Aughagower and Barony of Burrishoole in Ireland. It is bordered to the west by the townland of Derrygorman in the Parish of Westport. To the north it is bordered by the townland of Sheean in the Parish of Islandeady. It is bordered by the following townlands in the Parish of Aughagower: to the southwest, Meneen; to the south, Knockroosky; to the east, Cushinkeel; and to the northeast, Doon.In this townland are the remnants of Doon Castle, a former stronghold of the McPhilpin clan. The railway line between Westport and Manulla Junction passes through the southern part of the townland, the N5 road through its northern part.
