Westport House

Westport (Irish: Cathair na Mart, meaning 'the stone fort of the beeves', historically anglicised as Cahernamart) is a town in County Mayo in Ireland. It is at the south-east corner of Clew Bay, an inlet of the Atlantic Ocean on the west coast of Ireland. Westport is a tourist destination and scores highly for quality of life. It won the Irish Tidy Towns Competition three times in 2001, 2006 and 2008. In 2012 it won the Best Place to Live in Ireland competition run by The Irish Times.Westport is designated as a heritage town, and is one of only a few planned towns in Ireland. The town centre was laid-out in the Georgian architectural style, and incorporates the Carrow Beg river into the design composition. This provides for tree lined promenades (known as The Mall) and several stone bridges. The pilgrimage mountain of Croagh Patrick, known locally as "the Reek", lies some 10 km west of the town near the villages of Murrisk and Lecanvey. The mountain forms the backdrop to the town.

Pirate Adventure Park was a small theme park located beside Westport House in Westport, Ireland. The Park is home to the first flume ride in Ireland (Pirates Plunge). The Park is Pirate themed due to Wesport House's association with Grace O'Malley. The Park was developed by The 11th Marquess of Sligo on the grounds of Westport House. It was permanently closed in September 2023

Westport Town Hall Theatre (Irish: Amharclann Halla an Bhaile Cathair na Mart), formerly Westport Town Hall (Irish: Halla an Bhaile Cathair na Mart), is a community events venue in The Octagon, Westport, County Mayo, Ireland.

Westport GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in Westport, County Mayo, Ireland. The club fields teams in both Gaelic football and hurling.

Clew Bay Heritage Centre is a local history museum in Westport, County Mayo, Ireland. Located in the west of the town, on the pier, it illustrates the social history and heritage of the Clew Bay area and Westport. Topics covered include Croagh Patrick, Grace O'Malley, John MacBride, Maud Gonne, the Irish War of Independence, the 1798 Rebellion and schooling in the area.The museum is located in a 19th-century stone building, once used for holding live pigs prior to transport, donated by the Harbour Board. It was founded by Westport Historical Society in 1987. Tour guides describe it as "a chaotic but engaging jumble" and "a veritable garage sale of history."

The N59 road is a national secondary road in Ireland. It commences in County Sligo, south of Sligo Town at the Belladrehid interchange with the N4 north of Ballysadare. The route circles around the west of Ireland, passing west from Sligo into County Mayo and through Ballina. The N59 continues around Mayo, proceeding indirectly to Westport. Continuing south through Mayo into County Galway, the road passes through the village of Leenaun. The 182-year-old bridge in the centre of the village, carrying the road across the River Lahill, collapsed in floods on 18 July 2007. Due to the local terrain and road network, the diversionary route for getting from the south of the village to Westport was 110 km long. A temporary bridge was opened eight days after the floods, on 27 July. It has since been replaced by a new bridge. South of Leenaun, the N59 proceeds southwest through Connemara to Clifden. From there, it returns east through Maam Cross and to Oughterard, from which it proceeds southeast to Galway city. The N59 ends at a junction with the N6 at Quincentenary Bridge. At 298.795 kilometres (185.663 mi), the N59 is the longest numbered road in Ireland.

Westport railway station serves the town of Westport, County Mayo, Ireland. The station is the terminus station on the Dublin to Westport Rail service. Passengers to or from Galway must travel to Athlone and change trains. Passengers to or from Ballina and Foxford must travel to Manulla Junction and change trains.

Churchfield (Irish: An Nuachabháil) is a townland in the barony of Murrisk and civil parish of Oughaval. Its Irish name, An Nuachabháil, is the same as that of Oughaval. Aughavale cemetery with its ancient ruined church are contained within the townland. Churchfield borders the following four townlands: Streamstown to the north, Ardoley to the east, Aghamore to the south, and Knockaraha East to the west.

Knocknabola or Knocknaboley (Irish: Cnoc na Buaile, meaning 'hill of the cattle-fold') is a townland in the parish of Kilmeena which is located between Newport and Westport in County Mayo, Ireland. It is a small townland, of approximately 1.27 km2 (0.49 sq mi), in the Electoral Division of Derryloughan. As of the 2011 census, Knocknaboley had a population of 55 people.

Ballydonnellan (Irish: Baile Uí Dhónalláinn) is a townland in the barony of Burrishoole and civil parish of Aughagower, Ireland. It is on the R330 road between Westport and Partry. The townland is bordered to the north by Tonranny and to the northeast by Ardogommon; to the east is Coolloughra; to the south is Shanagh and to the southwest, Derrygarve. To the west is Knockfelim and Moyhastin.

Kilmeena (Irish: Cill Mhíona) is a civil parish and small village near Westport in County Mayo, Ireland. The area is served by a Roman Catholic church, an An Post post office, and a national (primary) school.
