BirdLife Australia is a not-for-profit organisation advocating for native birds and the conservation of their habitats across Australia.BirdLife Australia is the trading name of the company limited by guarantee formed through the merger of two Australian non-government conservation organisations, Bird Observation and Conservation Australia (BOCA) and Birds Australia. A constitution was drafted in May 2011 for BirdLife Australia, which became operational on 1 January 2012. Their respective magazines, the Bird Observer and Wingspan, were succeeded by Australian Birdlife.

Elizabeth Street Common Ground Supportive Housing in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia is a supportive housing project that will provide 161 individuals and families with homes in Elizabeth Street, Melbourne by September 2010. The project is a partnership between the Victorian government which has provided the majority of capital funding; the Federal Government, which has provided capital funding under the ‘A Place to Call Home’ program; the Victorian Property Fund; Yarra Community Housing, a registered housing association, as owner and landlord; HomeGround Services, a registered housing provider and the support services manager; and construction company Grocon, who are constructing the development at cost. Other partners are providing support through in-kind and pro bono services and funding for support services. Elizabeth Street Common Ground will be an eleven storey building providing 131 homes based on the Common Ground model of supportive housing and another 30 affordable homes available to families. The building will provide operational offices for partner organisations as well as community facilities for tenants and a green roof garden.

The Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology at the University of Melbourne is the oldest engineering and information technology faculty in Australia. It was established in 1861, 8 years after the establishment of the University of Melbourne, and was made a Faculty in 1889. It teaches a substantial number of undergraduate and postgraduate students (around 4,500, including over 1,400 international students from over 50 countries), as well as being a significant centre for engineering research, employing many leaders in their fields. In 2011 the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology celebrated its sesquicentenary and the School developed a large range of events and activities to mark the occasion.

The John Medley Building is at Kernot Road, The University of Melbourne, Parkville Campus, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The building was designed by Sir Roy Burman Grounds. It was constructed between 1969 and 1971, and was built to relieve the cramped conditions of the campus Old Arts Building, which was built from 1919 to 1924, and to house the larger departments of the university's faculty office.According to Sowerwine & Gamer, 2007, many in the university community began to demand more attention be paid to architectural issues of the campus; for that reason, Grounds was appointed as architect of the John Medley Building. Grounds, who developed an interest in the Bauhaus and architectural modernism, was a leader of the modernist movement who had broken away from its principles. The John Medley Building disappointed many, notwithstanding that Grounds was seen as prolific in the profession following his design of the Victorian Arts Centre.

The Division of Yarra was an Australian electoral division in the state of Victoria. It was located in inner eastern suburban Melbourne, and was named after the Yarra River, which originally formed the eastern border of the Division, and eventually ran through it. It originally covered the suburbs of Abbotsford, Collingwood, Richmond and part of Fitzroy. By the time it was abolished in 1969, it no longer covered Abbotsford or Fitzroy, but included Burnley and Hawthorn. The division was proclaimed in 1900, and was one of the original 65 divisions to be contested at the first federal election. It was abolished at the redistribution of 21 November 1968. For its entire existence, it was a very safe Labor seat. It was held by only four MPs – Frank Tudor, a leader of the Australian Labor Party; James Scullin, the thirteenth Prime Minister of Australia; Stan Keon, an important figure in the Australian Labor Party split of 1955, and Jim Cairns, who would go on to become Deputy Prime Minister of Australia as the member for the Division of Lalor.

The division was proclaimed in 1900, and was one of the original 65 divisions to be contested at the first federal election. The Division of Melbourne encompasses the City of Melbourne and the suburbs of Abbotsford, Ascot Vale, Burnley, Carlton, Carlton North, Collingwood, Cremorne, Docklands, East Melbourne, Fitzroy, Fitzroy North, Flemington, Kensington, North Melbourne, Parkville, Princes Hill, Richmond, Travancore and West Melbourne. The area has heavy and light engineering, extensive manufacturing, commercial and retail activities (including Melbourne markets and central business district), dockyards, clothing and footwear industries, warehousing and distributing of whitegoods, building and other general goods. This capital city electorate's northern boundary is formed by Maribyrnong Road, Ormond Road, Park Street, Sydney Road and Glenlyon Road between the Yarra River, Maribyrnong River and Merri Creek.

The Carlton Fire Station, or Fire Station No. 3 or Former Carlton Fire Station, on Swanston Street in Carlton, Victoria, a suburb of Melbourne, Australia is a historic fire station which was built in 1927–29.It was deemed of state level heritage significance in Victoria by the Victoria Heritage Council.It was designed by Cedric Haese Ballantyne (1876-1957) in late Edwardian Baroque style, and was deemed "an excellent representative example" of the numerous Metropolitan Fire Brigade fire stations that he designed.It is a three-storey brick and stucco building. It has a central entrance leading to a courtyard. Residences for single and married men were on the first and second storeys, and the ground floor on Swanston Street was commercial lease space. It has a balustraded parapet.The fire station ceased operations on 20 May 1997 and moved on the same day to a new fire station on Bouverie Street, Carlton, just a block away.The building was converted to residential apartments in 2000.It is located at 650-656 or 644-656 Swanston Street.

The Melbourne Teachers College was an Australian tertiary training institution located on Grattan Street, Carlton. It was renamed the Melbourne State College and then the Melbourne College of Advanced Education. In 1989 it became part of the University of Melbourne.

The Institute for a Broadband-Enabled Society (IBES) is an Australian research institute focusing on the development of broadband-enabled applications and technologies. The institute is based in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at The University of Melbourne in Victoria (Australia).
