Bärnfels Castle

Obertrubach is a municipality in the district of Forchheim in Bavaria in Germany.

Leienfels Castle (German: Burgruine Leienfels) was a late medieval aristocratic castle, immediately northwest of the eponymous village of Leienfels in the region of Franconian Switzerland in Germany. The village belongs to the borough of Pottenstein in the Upper Franconian county of Bayreuth in Bavaria. The ruins of the hill castle are freely accessible and act as a viewing point.

The burgstall or site of Bieberbach Castle is a ruined mediaeval spur castle at a elevation of 530 m above sea level (NN) on a rock formation in the southern part of the parish of Bieberbach, in the market municipality of Egloffstein in the county of Forchheim in the German state of Bavaria. The castle was built around 1225 by the lords of Dachstetten. Later occupants were the lords of Egloffstein and the lords of Wichsenstein, who were recorded as ministeriales of the Bishopric of Bamberg. The castle was damaged in 1525 during the Peasants' War and finally destroyed during the Thirty Years' War. In the early 19th century the remains were carried away apart from a vaulted roof and a cellar.

It towers high above the market town and the River Wiesent and may have been the inspiration for Richard Wagner's grail castle in his opera, Parsifal. The castle is a Bavarian listed building, no. The fortification of Burggraf (German: Abschnittsbefestigung Burggraf), also called the Burggrafenstein or Furchste, is a levelled prehistorical or early medieval sector fortification on a hill spur between Untertrubach and Dörnhof near Gräfenberg in the county of Forchheim in the south German state of Bavaria. The fortification was recorded in 1417 as a burgstall. It consisted of ramparts and an entrance passage at the southwest corner and probably a second on the southeast side. Only the remains of two sector ramparts have survived.
