Westgate Oxford

Castle Street is a street in Oxford, England. It is named after Oxford Castle which is close by to the west and is located in the St Ebbe's area of southwest central Oxford. "Castell Streate" can be found on a map of 1578 by Ralph Agas. In 1885, Castle Terrace was built by F. J. Codd in the adjoining Paradise Street. This became Simon House, run by the Cyreneans.To the north there is a junction with New Road and Queen Street. The Westgate Shopping Centre is to east at the northern end of the street.

Oxfordshire County Library (until 2017 known as Oxford Central Library) is the main public library in the city of Oxford, England. The library opened in its current location in 1973 above shops in Westgate, Oxford. Over 500,000 items are available for loan. The library is run by Oxfordshire County Council. The library has used the OpenGalaxy library automation system since 2003.Due to the redevelopment of the Westgate Centre, the library closed to the public on February 27, 2016. During the Westgate redevelopment it temporarily relocated to a smaller location in the neighbouring Oxford Castle complex.The library reopened at the Westgate on December 18, 2017 and was renamed as the Oxfordshire County Library upon reopening.

St Ebbes is a district of central Oxford, England, southwest of Carfax. St Ebbes Street runs south from the western end of Queen Street.

County Hall is a municipal building on New Road in Oxford, Oxfordshire, England. County Hall, which is the headquarters of Oxfordshire County Council, is a Grade II* listed building.

Oxide Radio is a student radio station run by members of Oxford University in Oxford, England. It was established in 2001 and as Altered Radio made brief forays onto FM in 2004 and 2005 before complications regarding FM licensing and funding forced it onto Internet-only broadcast. It relaunched in Michaelmas Term 2017 with a rebranded interface and website and now broadcasts 24/7. It features a wide range of different shows that broadcast throughout the Oxford term: music shows of all genres, from indie tracks to Nordic tunes; chat shows featuring student agony aunts, or interviews with people affiliated with Oxford; forays into contemporary vibe culture; and plenty of news and sport for good measure too covering stories in Oxford and further afield. Despite its very limited central University funding, since 2009 Oxide Radio has allowed any students to get involved with the society, without any subscription charges or fees, giving students the opportunity to share their passions and voice with a global audience.

The Tirah Memorial is a war memorial in Bonn Square, Oxford, England. It commemorates soldiers of the 2nd Battalion Oxfordshire Light Infantry who died in 1897–98 on the Tirah Expedition and Punjab Frontier Campaign to suppress rebel tribes on the North West Frontier of British India.

Bonn Square in Oxford, England, is named after the German city of Bonn with which Oxford is twinned. It is close to the original west gate of the city of Oxford, where the Westgate Shopping Centre is now located. To the east is Queen Street, a shopping street. New Inn Hall Street leads north from near here. Oxford Castle and the old Oxford Prison are also nearby, now converted into a hotel and restaurants.

St Ebbe's is a Church of England parish church in central Oxford. The church is within the conservative evangelical tradition and participates in the Anglican Reform movement. It has members from many nations, many of whom are students at Oxford University. The rector is Vaughan Roberts who is also an author and conference speaker.

New Inn Hall was one of the earliest medieval halls of the University of Oxford. It was located in New Inn Hall Street, Oxford.

Oxford was a parliamentary constituency in the United Kingdom, comprising the city of Oxford in the county of Oxfordshire.

The siege of Oxford comprised the English Civil War military campaigns waged to besiege the Royalist controlled city of Oxford, involving three short engagements over twenty-five months, which ended with a Parliamentarian victory in June 1646. The first engagement was in May 1644, during which King Charles I escaped, thus preventing a formal siege. The second, in May 1645, had barely started when Sir Thomas Fairfax was given orders to stop and pursue the King to Naseby instead. The last siege began in May 1646 and was a formal siege of two months; but the war was obviously over and negotiation, rather than fighting, took precedence. Being careful not to inflict too much damage on the city, Fairfax even sent in food to the King's second son, James, and was happy to conclude the siege with an honourable agreement before any further escalation occurred.

The Church of St Peter-le-Bailey is a church on New Inn Hall Street in central Oxford, England. It was formerly next to Bonn Square, which was originally the churchyard. Now it is located halfway up New Inn Hall Street to the north. Several churches have existed on or close to the site. The current church is now the chapel of St Peter's College, Oxford.
