The May S. Marcy Sculpture Garden is a sculpture garden featuring 19th- and 20th-century modern and contemporary sculptures, located adjacent to the San Diego Museum of Art's West Wing in San Diego's Balboa Park, in the U.S. state of California.

The Old Globe is a professional theatre company located in Balboa Park in San Diego, California. It produces about 15 plays and musicals annually in summer and winter seasons. Plays are performed in three separate theatres in the complex, which is collectively called the Simon Edison Centre for the Performing Arts: Old Globe Theatre – 600-seat flagship theatre, fully enclosed, featuring the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre – 250-seat intimate theatre in the round (completed 2009) Lowell Davies Festival Theatre – 615-seat outdoor theatreThe Old Globe Theatre and the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre are part of the Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. The Mingei International Museum is a non-profit public institution that collects, conserves and exhibits folk art, craft and design. The museum was founded in 1974, and its building opened in 1978. The word mingei, meaning 'art of the people,' was coined by the Japanese scholar Dr. Sōetsu Yanagi by combining the Japanese words for all people (min 民) and art (gei 芸).

The House of Charm is a historic museum building in Balboa Park, San Diego. It was built for the 1915–16 Panama-California Exposition, and like most buildings from that Exposition it features Mission Revival Style architecture. It acquired its current name, "House of Charm", during the park's second Exposition held in from 1935 to 36. It now houses the San Diego Art Institute and the Mingei International Museum as well as rehearsal space for the Old Globe Theatre. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Nikigator is an outdoor sculpture by the Franco-American artist Niki de Saint Phalle, created in 2000 in San Diego, California. This monumental statue, made from clay tiles, glass, and stone, depicts a hollowed-out alligator. The artwork is housed at the Mingei International Museum in San Diego. Near by to the other installed sculptures located at Balboa Park, the San Diego Museum of Art's May S. Marcy Sculpture Garden The 5,000-pound sculpture was moved to Liberty Station in July 2019 for safety as renovation of the Mingei began. It returned by crane after the museum reopened to the public. The Nikigator was originally part of a broader endeavor involving over 15 mosaic animal sculptures intended for the Noah’s Ark installation at the Jerusalem Biblical Zoo. While apart of the Collection Forum Würth, Rorschach (Switzerland).

San Diego Art Institute was founded in 1941 as the San Diego Business Men's Art Club. Its name was changed in 1950 to the San Diego Art Institute. In 1953, women were admitted for membership. It officially became a nonprofit in 1963, dedicated to showcasing artists from the Southern California and Baja Norte region. San Diego Art Institute in Balboa Park and Lux Art Institute in Encinitas merged in September 2021 to become The Institute of Contemporary Art, San Diego with each museum continuing to operate respectively at the Encinitas and Balboa Park museums,
