Dominion Radio Astrophysical Observatory

The Canadian Hydrogen Intensity Mapping Experiment (CHIME) is an interferometric radio telescope at the Dominion Radio Astrophysical Observatory in British Columbia, Canada which consists of four antennas consisting of 100 x 20 metre cylindrical parabolic reflectors (roughly the size and shape of snowboarding half-pipes) with 1024 dual-polarization radio receivers suspended on a support above them. The antenna receives radio waves from hydrogen in space at frequencies in the 400–800 MHz range. The telescope's low-noise amplifiers are built with components adapted from the cellphone industry and its data are processed using a custom-built FPGA electronic system and 1000-processor high-performance GPGPU cluster. The telescope has no moving parts and observes half of the sky each day as the Earth turns. It has also turned out to be a great instrument for observing fast radio bursts (FRBs). CHIME is a partnership between the University of British Columbia, McGill University, the University of Toronto and the Canadian National Research Council's Dominion Radio Astrophysical Observatory. A first light ceremony was held on 7 September 2017 to inaugurate the commissioning phase.

White Lake Grasslands Protected Area is a conservation site located in the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen of British Columbia, Canada. It was established on April 18, 2001 by order-in-council under the Environment and Land Use Act to protect the semi-arid grassland and pine forest ecosystem west of Vaseux Lake. The region spans from shoreline to mountain top, providing essential living areas for various red and blue-listed species, plants, and plant groups in British Columbia.The first aim of the protected area is to provide protection to red and blue-listed wildlife species (especially the white-headed woodpecker) and the habitat inside the area. The second aim is to protect the archaeological sites and First Nations’ traditional land.The area has a diverse ecology with generally hot and dry weather. It was a farmyard and home for the First Nation; now it offers tourism activities.

Okanagan Falls Provincial Park, now officially named sx̌ʷəx̌ʷnitkʷ Provincial Park, is a provincial park in British Columbia, Canada, located within the traditional territory of the Osoyoos Indian Band. Since time immemorial, the Osoyoos Indian Band's Okanagan ancestors have inhabited and cared for the lands and waters in their traditional territory. The park is also located within the town of Okanagan Falls, protecting the area around the waterfall of the same name, which lies below the outlet of Skaha Lake in the course of the Okanagan River.

The Marron River is a very small & very short river in southern British Columbia. It is located just west of Skaha Lake, and is about 7.8 km long.

Mahoney Lake is a meromictic saline lake located near Okanagan Falls in British Columbia, Canada. It was established as an ecological reserve to preserve a southern interior saline lake, possessing unique limnological features in 1972. It has a unique layering, where the very bottom of the lake is very salt rich and contains hydrogen sulphide (H2S), which facilitates the growth of the purple sulphur bacteria in the layer above it, where the bacteria has just enough light to grow. The upper layer of the lake consists of a mixing layer of fresh water. Mahoney Lake is alkaline because it features no inflow or outflow of water. The lake also contains very low levels of oxygen and an approximate pH of 7.5-9.0. The surface area of the lake is 18ha and the surface area of the land is 21ha, with combined total of 21 ha.

Okanagan Falls (also known as OK Falls) is a community located on the south end of Skaha Lake in British Columbia.

Christie Memorial Park (formerly Christie Memorial Provincial Park) was a provincial park in British Columbia, Canada, located in the town of Okanagan Falls at the south end of Skaha Lake. The park was established on October 5, 1965, in remembrance of RCAF Pilot Officer Robert G. Christie, DFM. Christie was serving as a Navigator (flight officer) with No. 97 Squadron RAF when he was killed in action September 23, 1943. As the only serviceman from Okanagan Falls killed in action during World War II, this Provincial Park was named after him. He is buried at Rheinberg War Cemetery, Kamp-Lintfort, Nordrhein-Westfal, Germany, grave 8. C. 18. The park ceased to be managed by BC Parks in February 2013, when the province transferred ownership to the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen.

Marron Valley is an inhabited locality and former post office in the South Okanagan region of the Southern Interior of British Columbia, Canada, located to the west of Skaha Lake.Named in association with the Marron River, a post office was first opened in 1909 as Marron Lake. The post office was re-designated Marron Valley in 1924. The Geological Survey of Canada map for 1936 show "Marron Valley (town)" though this was downgraded to "Marron Valley (settlement)" in 1954.

Vaseux-Bighorn National Wildlife Area is a National Wildlife Area in British Columbia, Canada, primarily set aside to protect winter rangeland for California bighorn sheep. In 1979, the Vaseux-Bighorn Wildlife Area was established in response to substantial reduction in wild animal populations in the area. Identified factors contributing to species decline at the time were high predator population, overharvesting of species, and illegal hunting. Land development, cattle raising, and lumbering also might have altered species populations. Under these conditions, the area was able to be classified as a Category IV area by the IUCN and is now used for wildlife habitat and conservation. Even with minimal anthropogenic use of the area, threats persist through invasive species. Recreational use is limited spatially and is only open to the public during the day.

The Okanagan Game Farm was a private zoo located in Kaleden, British Columbia, a small community approximately 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) south of Penticton, British Columbia. The park closed on March 31, 1999, after 33 years in operation.

Kaleden () is an unincorporated community about midway along the western shore of Skaha Lake in the Okanagan region of south central British Columbia. Adjacent to BC Highway 97, the locality is by road about 13 kilometres (8 mi) south of Penticton.

Vaseux Lake Provincial Park is a provincial park located along the northeastern shore of Vaseux Lake in the Okanagan region of British Columbia, Canada. The park is situated 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) south of Okanagan Falls on Highway 97 in the south Okanagan. The park plays a key role in educating and providing access to important conservation values and has a responsibility to maintain these activities.
