The Senator (tree)

Lady Liberty is a bald cypress (Taxodium distichum) located in Big Tree Park in Longwood, Florida. The tree is over 2,000 years old and stands 40 feet (12 m) from the former site of The Senator, a 3,500-year-old Bald Cypress that burned down on January 16, 2012. With the Senator's demise, Big Tree Park has taken greater notice of its last remaining giant and has taken steps to ensure its preservation.

Lake Mary High School is a public high school located in Seminole County, Florida, operating under Seminole County Public Schools. It was opened in 1981.

Longwood station is a train station in Longwood, Florida, served by SunRail, the commuter train of Central Florida. The station opened May 1, 2014, and marks a return of passenger rail service in Longwood dating back to the community's days as a junction of the South Florida Railroad, Orange Belt Railway and old Florida Midland Railway, all of which were acquired by the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad. Unlike most SunRail stations, which feature canopies consisting of white aluminum poles supporting sloped green roofs, Longwood's canopies have traditional brown gabled roofs with cupolas and faux dormer windows. It also includes ticket vending machines, ticket validators, emergency call boxes, drinking fountains, separate platforms designed for passengers in wheelchairs. The station is located along the former CSX A-Line (originally constructed by the South Florida Railroad) northeast of the Longwood Historic District on the north side of East Church Avenue. A transit-oriented development called Weston Park was built adjacent to the station, which features a 208-unit, four story luxury apartment community.

Lake Mary is a suburban city that is located in the Greater Orlando metropolitan area in Seminole County, Florida, United States, and is located in Central Florida. The population was 13,822 at the 2010 census.

Longwood is a city in Seminole County, Florida, United States. It is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Sanford, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 15,087 at the 2020 census.

The Longwood Hotel (also known as the St. George Hotel or Orange and Black or Longwood Village Inn) is a historic building in Longwood, Florida. It was located on Old Dixie Highway but is now located at 300 North Ronald Reagan Boulevard. It was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places on May 10, 1984. The Longwood Hotel was built in 1885.

The Longwood Historic District is a U.S. historic district (designated as such on October 5, 1990) located in Longwood, Florida. The district is bounded by West Pine Avenue, South Milwee Street, Palmetto Avenue, and CR 427. The district contains 37 historic buildings, including the Bradlee-McIntyre House and the Longwood Hotel.

Spring Hammock Preserve is a 1,500-acre (610 ha) natural area in Seminole County, Florida. Its mucky areas protect examples of hydric hammock and floodplain forest. Sandy terrain supports upland hardwood and pine flatwood ecosystems. Many animal and plant species in the preserve are either rare or near their range limit.

WDYZ (660 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station licensed to Altamonte Springs, Florida, and serving Greater Orlando. The station is owned by JVC Media and airs a sports radio format. The studios and offices are in Maitland, Florida. WDYZ's transmitter is off Charles Street in Longwood. The station uses a three-tower array. It transmits with 3,500 watts by day, but because AM 660 is a clear channel frequency reserved for WFAN in New York City, WDYZ must reduce power to 1,000 watts at night. The station uses a directional antenna at all times.

Seminole State College of Florida is a public college with four campuses in Central Florida. It is part of the Florida College System. Founded in 1965, the Florida State Legislature signed a charter creating "Seminole Junior College." The college opened in August 1966 with 700 students at a former citrus grove in Seminole County, near U.S. Route 17/92 and County Road 427 (Ronald Reagan Blvd.) now in the city of Sanford. By October 1971, Seminole Junior College's enrollment had exceeded 7,000, and by 1975, Seminole Junior College became "Seminole Community College", with enrollment reaching 14,161. In 2006, Seminole Community College partnered with the University of Central Florida to launch "DirectConnect to UCF", which guaranteed Seminole Community College graduates admission to the university, as well as academic advising by university counselors. In September 2009, the college's board of trustees unanimously approved a motion to rename the institution "Seminole State College of Florida," eight months after the introduction of the institution's first state-approved bachelor's degree program, the Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.S.) in interior design. As of 2011, the college serves over 30,000 students, full-time and part-time, and is also one of the largest employers in Seminole County. The college has expanded into four campuses since 1965, all based within Seminole County, Florida. Its main campus is located in Sanford, and its satellite campuses are located in Oviedo, Altamonte Springs and Heathrow. The Oviedo campus opened in 2001, the Heathrow in 2007, and the Altamonte Springs in 2008. Seminole State is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and the Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) Mid-Florida Conference (MFC) and competes in baseball, softball and women's golf. The Seminole County Cemetery is located on the property of the Sanford/Lake Mary Campus.

Lyman High School is a public high school located in Longwood, Florida. The school, founded in 1924, has been consistently ranked among the best in the state by the Florida Department of Education. For the 2012-2013 school term Lyman High School garnered a straight 'A' average, the best in the district, as a result of extremely high student scores on the Florida Comprehension Assessment Test. In 2014, it was ranked by U.S. News & World Report as the 27th best high school in the state of Florida and the overall best high school in Central Florida. It was ranked by Newsweek as the 204th best high school in the United States in 2010. The school was also named a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence in 1982. The school is operated by Seminole County Public Schools.

The Lake Mary Chamber of Commerce Building (also known as the Frank Evans Center) is a historic site in Lake Mary, Florida, United States. It is located at 158 North Country Club Road. On February 11, 2004, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. The building was built in 1926 by Frank Evans as a community center and offices for the Lake Mary of Chamber of Commerce. The building was later used as the City Hall when the city was incorporated in 1973 until 1990 when the current City Hall was completed. The building currently functions as the Lake Mary Historical Museum. The museum began in 1994 in a small room at the back of the building while the rest of the building was used as a gathering place for the city's seniors The museum now occupies the entire building and includes changing exhibits about local history, art, culture and trains.
