Peart Water

Ashford Reservoir is a small reservoir on the eastern side of the Quantock Hills near the villages of Charlynch and Spaxton in Somerset, England. It was constructed 1934 as a water supply reservoir for Bridgwater. Originally the reservoir was contained by a small embankment dam. In 2009 the banks were removed and replaced by a concrete wall that could contain 45,000,000 litres (9,900,000 imp gal; 12,000,000 US gal) of water. The reservoir collects the water of Peart Water which is also dammed at Hawkridge Reservoir. Below the reservoir the Peart Water joins the Currypool stream to form the Cannington Brook. Fishing is allowed and catches include; Bream, Perch and Roach. The water treatment centre provides educational opportunities.

Blackmoor Farmhouse at Cannington, Somerset, England and the attached chapel, was built around 1480 for Thomas Tremayll. It was designated as a Grade I listed building on 29 March 1963. The farm now offers bed and breakfast accommodation and is a wedding venue.

Brymore Academy (formerly Brymore School) is a boys' secondary school with academy status, located in Cannington, Bridgwater, Somerset, England. It is a day and boarding school for pupils aged 11 to 17 years and had 192 boys on the roll in 2015, 115 of them boarders. It was established in 1951 by Somerset County Council at a cost of £6,000 as a Secondary Technical School of Agriculture.The school has a farm, walled garden, greenhouses and workshops including a foundry and forge. The farm includes a dairy herd, beef animals, sows, poultry and a flock of ewes with lambs.Brymore offers extra-curricular activities including beekeeping, canoeing and cycling. The school is expanding to take in Year 7s. The school will continue to enter boys in Year 9, provided there are sufficient places available. The main school building incorporates parts of a medieval house which was owned by John Pym who, during the English Civil War played a role in bringing about the downfall of Charles I. In World War II girls of Malvern College were evacuated to Brymore. In 1943 the 535th Automatic Weapons battalion of the US Army was billeted in the house and grounds while they prepared for D-Day. The building is designated as a Grade II listed building. The boarding houses included the Grade I listed Cannington Court.The buildings and grounds of Brymore Academy are used annually during the summer break for 3 "Venture" camps called Brymore 1, 2, and 3.

The Agapemonites or Community of The Son of Man was a Christian religious group or sect that existed in England from 1846 to 1956. It was named from the Greek: agapemone meaning "abode of love". The Agapemone community was founded by the Reverend Henry Prince in Spaxton, Somerset. The sect also built a church in Upper Clapton, London, and briefly had bases in Stoke-by-Clare in Suffolk, Brighton and Weymouth. The ideas of the community were based on the theories of various German religious mystics and its primary object was the spiritualisation of the matrimonial state. The Church of England had dismissed Prince earlier in his career for his radical teachings. The Agapemonites predicted the imminent return of Jesus Christ. According to newspaper accounts, Prince's successor, John Hugh Smyth-Pigott, declared himself Jesus Christ's reincarnation. The Agapemone community consisted mostly of wealthy unmarried women. Both Prince and Smyth-Pigott took many spiritual brides. Later investigations have shown that these "brides" were not solely spiritual and that some produced illegitimate children. In 1860, Prince lost a lawsuit brought on behalf of Louisa Nottidge by the Nottidge family and the group vanished from the public eye. It finally closed in 1956 when the last member died.

Cannington Camp is a Bronze Age and Iron Age hill fort near Cannington, Somerset, England. It is a Scheduled Ancient Monument.The small hill rises to 80 metres (260 ft) above low-lying land about 1.5 kilometres (0.93 mi) west of the tidal estuary of the River Parrett, near the ancient port and ford at Combwich. The hill fort is roughly square in shape, with a single rampart (univallate) enclosing 5 ha (12 acres), and the main entrance to the south-east. The north side of the hill has been destroyed by quarrying during the 19th and 20th centuries. Minor excavations were carried out in 1905, 1913 (Bezell), and 1963 (Rahtz). Flint tools, scrapers and flakes have been found on or near the hill, indicating Mesolithic occupation. Bronze Age finds include an axe head and a knife. The area destroyed by quarrying was a late Roman and Saxon cemetery, with several hundred E-W (Christian) graves, and various grave goods such as coins and pottery from the period 350-800 AD. It is possibly the site of Cynwit Castle (or Cynuit, Cynwith, Cynwits, etc.) and the Battle of Cynwit between Saxons and Vikings in 878 AD (see map). It may also be the location of an earlier battle in 845 AD, when the Saxons were led by Eanwulf and Ealstan, Bishop of Sherborne.

Spaxton is a small village and civil parish on the Quantocks in the Sedgemoor district of Somerset, South West England.

Cannington is a village and civil parish 3 miles (5 km) northwest of Bridgwater in the Sedgemoor district of Somerset, England. It lies on the west bank of the River Parret, and contains the hamlet of Edstock.

Barford Park is a Georgian country house and park to the south of Spaxton, west of Bridgwater, Somerset, England. It was designated a grade II* listed building on 29 March 1963. The name "Barford" comes from owners of the land, who had a house on the site in the 13th and 14th centuries.

Gothelney Hall, also known as Gothelney Manor Farmhouse, located in the parish of Spaxton, Somerset, England was built in the 15th century and has been designated as a Grade I listed building.The site was used for an earlier building dated by dendrochronology to between 1238 and 1411.The tall house in the centre of the building dates from the 15th century, however this was extended in the 16th century, with further additions and renovations in the 17th and 19th centuries. Many of the original roof timbers survive. It was originally surrounded by a moat.In World War II the house was used by the War Department and afterwards became a kindergarten. It was later used as a farmhouse and farm outbuildings can be found to the rear. The house remains a private dwelling and centre of a working farm.

Enmore Castle is a historic building in the village of Enmore, Somerset, England. It is a Grade II listed building.

Cannington Priory was a Benedictine nunnery established around 1138 and dissolved in 1536 in Cannington, Somerset, England. It was attached to the Church of St Mary.It was first populated by Benedictine nuns (from Dorset), who were later transferred to Colwich Abbey. The building was converted into a mansion but later reverted to being a nunnery. It was disestablished as part of the Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1536.Cannington Court incorporates some of the remains.

The Anglican Church of St Michael in Enmore within the English county of Somerset dates mainly from the 15th century, however some of the fabric of the building from the 12th century, including an arched doorway, survives. It is a Grade II* listed building.
