Rockefeller Cottage

Walter Rogers Furness Cottage (1890-1891) – also known as the "Old Infirmary" or the "Jekyll Island Infirmary" – is a Shingle Style building on Jekyll Island, in Glynn County, Georgia. It is one of thirty-three contributing properties in the 240-acre (97.1 hectares) Jekyll Island Club Historic District. The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1972, and designated a National Historic Landmark District in 1978.

The Jekyll Island Club was a private club on Jekyll Island, on Georgia's Atlantic coast. It was founded in 1886 when members of an incorporated hunting and recreational club purchased the island for $125,000 (about $3.1 million in 2017) from John Eugene du Bignon. The original design of the Jekyll Island Clubhouse, with its signature turret, was completed in January 1888. The club thrived through the early 20th century; its members came from many of the world's wealthiest families, most notably the Morgans, Rockefellers, and Vanderbilts. The club closed at the end of the 1942 season due to complications from World War II. In 1947, after five years of funding a staff to keep up the lawn and cottages, the island was purchased from the club's remaining members for $675,000 (about $7.4 million in 2017) during condemnation proceedings by the state of Georgia. The state tried operating the club as a resort, but this was not financially successful, and the entire complex was closed by 1971. The complex was designated a historic landmark in 1978. It was restored and reopened as a luxury resort hotel in 1985. Jekyll Island Club Hotel is a member of Historic Hotels of America, the official program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

Faith Chapel is a historic chapel on Old Plantation Road in Jekyll Island, Georgia and was built in 1904. It was used as a non-denominational chapel until 1942. The state of Georgia purchased it along with Jekyll Island in 1947. It is administered by the Jekyll Island State Park Authority and was opened to the public in 1970. It has a wood "A" frame and a brick foundation. The interior and exterior walls are shingled, with gargoyles that are replicas of the ones at Notre Dame Cathedral. The chapel was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1971 and it is open to the public.It has stained-glass windows. One is "David's Window" which was made by Louis Comfort Tiffany; the other is "The Adoration of the Christ Child" by Maitland Armstrong and his daughter, Helen Maitland Armstrong.

Georgia Sea Turtle Center is a nature center and rescue and rehabilitation facility for sea turtles on Jekyll Island, Georgia, United States, that was founded in 2007. The Center features interactive exhibits and patient viewing areas. In addition to caring for sick and injured turtles, the Center has an educational mission, and presents daily programs, field trips, guided tours and beach walks.The Center is housed in the former Power Plant building of the Jekyll Island Club, at 214 Stable Road. It is a contributing structure in the Jekyll Island Historic District, and listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Jekyll Island is located off the coast of the U.S. state of Georgia, in Glynn County. It is one of the Sea Islands and one of the Golden Isles of Georgia barrier islands. The island is owned by the State of Georgia and run by a self-sustaining, self-governing body.It was long used seasonally by indigenous peoples of the region. The Guale and the Mocama, the indigenous peoples of the area when Europeans first reached the area, were killed or forced to leave by the English of the Province of Carolina and their native allies, and by raids by French pirates. Plantations were developed on the island during the British colonial period. A few structures still standing are made of tabby, a coastal building material using crushed oyster shells. The island was developed in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It was evacuated during World War II by order of the US government. In 1947 the state of Georgia acquired all the property, for security and preservation. A popular tourist destination, the island has beaches frequented by vacationers. Guided tours of the Landmark Historic District are available. Bike trails, walks along the beaches and sandbars, and Summer Waves, a water park, are among the active attractions. The historic district features numerous impressive and ambitious buildings from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The island is also full of wildlife, consisting of many different mammals, reptiles, and birds living and breeding in the island's inland salt marshes. In 2018, Architectural Digest named Jekyll Island one of the 50 most beautiful small towns in America.The island was listed as a census-designated place prior to the 2020 census with a population of 866.

Jekyll Island Airport is a small general aviation airport located in Jekyll Island, Georgia, United States. It is around 2 miles away from central Jekyll Island. Due to its small runway size and the nearby Brunswick Golden Isles Airport, no commercial airlines fly there, but scenic tours of the island fly from there. The airport has three based aircraft, and around 74 aircraft operations a day.

Summer Waves is a water park located on Jekyll Island, near the port city of Brunswick, Georgia. The park is open from May to September/October.

The Little Satilla River (formerly the St. Illa River) is a 22.6-mile-long (36.4 km) tidal river that forms the boundary between Glynn and Camden counties in the U.S. state of Georgia. It is a separate river from the Little Satilla River, 20 miles (32 km) to the northwest, which is a freshwater tributary of the Satilla River.The Rural Felicity Plantation formerly stood near the southern banks of the river.

Horton House (also known as Horton-duBignon House, Brewery Ruins, duBignon Cemetery) is a historic site on Riverview Drive in Jekyll Island, Georgia. The tabby house was originally constructed in 1743 by Major William Horton, a top military aide to General James Oglethorpe. Horton also brewed beer in Georgia's first brewery (the ruins of which are a few hundred yards down the road). This structure has been meticulously preserved over the past 100 years as an example of coastal Georgia building techniques and as one of the oldest surviving buildings in the state. Across the street from the Horton House ruins is the du Bignon cemetery, a tabby wall surrounding the graves of five people: Ann Amelia du Bignon, Joseph du Bignon, Marie Felicite Riffault, Hector deLiyannis, and George Harvey. Horton House, the Brewery Ruins, and the cemetery were added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1971.

Du Bianons Creek is a stream in the U.S. state of Georgia.Variant names are "DuBignons Creek" and "Dubignon Creek". The creek derives its name from Le Sieur Christophe Anne Poulain du Bignon, the original owner of the site.

The Brunswick River is a 6-mile-long (10 km) tidal river in Glynn County, Georgia. It begins at the confluence of the South Brunswick River with the Turtle River southeast of Brunswick and flows east to St. Simons Sound, the strait between Saint Simons Island to the north and Jekyll Island to the south.The Lanier Bridge crosses the Brunswick River, I-95 and Georgia State Route 303 cross the Turtle River, the Torres Causeway crosses St. Simons Sound, and the Jekyll Island Causeway crosses Jekyll Sound.

St. Simons Sound is a sound in Georgia that prevails between Jekyll Island and St. Simons Island. It is part of the waterway from the Atlantic Ocean to the South Brunswick River to the port at Brunswick, Georgia. The St. Simons lighthouse stands on the north side of the sound. The depth of the sound is determined to be 32 feet (9.8 m) through a channel of treacherous shoals.
