The Collingwood Monument is a Grade II* listed monument in Tynemouth, England, dedicated to Vice Admiral Lord Cuthbert Collingwood. A Napoleonic-era admiral noted for being second-in-command to Admiral Lord Nelson during the Battle of Trafalgar, Collingwood is sometimes referred to as the forgotten hero of Trafalgar. The monument's base is by John Dobson and the statue is a work of the sculptor John Graham Lough. It is situated just off of Front Street in Tynemouth and overlooks the mouth of the River Tyne.

The River Tyne (listen) is a river in North East England. Its length (excluding tributaries) is 73 miles (118 km). It is formed by the North Tyne and the South Tyne, which converge at Warden Rock near Hexham in Northumberland at a place dubbed 'The Meeting of the Waters'. The Tyne Rivers Trust measure the whole Tyne catchment as 2,936 km2 (1,134 square miles), containing 4,399 km (2,733 miles) of waterways.

The Tyne Turrets were two 12-inch Mk VIII guns from the battleship HMS Illustrious, installed in Roberts Battery at Hartley, near Seaton Sluice north of the Tyne, and Kitchener Battery in Marsden near Lizard Point south of the river. The batteries were planned in World War I but only commissioned in 1921, and after a change of heart scrapped in 1926. This very heavy armament was only rivalled by the Dover harbour Admiralty Pier Turret at the time.

Tynemouth () is a large coastal town and former county borough in the metropolitan borough of North Tyneside in North East England. It is located on the north side of the mouth of the River Tyne, hence its name. Historically part of Northumberland, it is now part of the wider Tyneside conurbation and is best known for Tynemouth Castle and Priory. Until 1974, the town was a county borough which included the nearby town of North Shields. It is 8 mi (13 km) east-northeast of Newcastle upon Tyne with a population of 17,056 in 2001. The Tynemouth ward population in North Tyneside was 10,472 at the 2011 Census.

Our Lady and St Oswin's Church, also known as St Oswin's Church is a Catholic parish church in Tynemouth, North Tyneside, Tyne and Wear, England. It was built in 1890 and designed by Edward Joseph Hansom and Archibald Matthias Dunn. They designed the church in the Gothic Revival style. It is located on Front Street and backs onto Pier Road, across the road from Tynemouth Priory and Castle and is named after it, being dedicated to the same saints, Mary, Mother of Jesus and Oswine of Deira.

Tynemouth Castle is located on a rocky headland (known as Pen Bal Crag), overlooking Tynemouth Pier. The moated castle-towers, gatehouse and keep are combined with the ruins of the Benedictine priory where early kings of Northumbria were buried. The coat of arms of the town of Tynemouth still includes three crowns commemorating the tradition that the Priory had been the burial place for three kings.

Kings Priory School is a mixed all-through school and sixth form located in Tynemouth, Tyne and Wear, England. The current principal is Mr Philip Sanderson. The school has a Christian foundation as the largest member of the Woodard Corporation, but accepts pupils of any religious background. It is located immediately to the east of Tynemouth Metro StationIt was founded as The King's School in 1860 and was originally situated solely in the old headmaster's house, now Tynemouth House, which continues to be used for conferences and teaching. Previously an fee-charging independent school, The King's School converted to academy status in September 2013, merging with the Priory Primary school in Tynemouth and was renamed Kings Priory School. It remains a member of the Woodard Corporation but is now state-funded.

Jingling Geordie's Hole is a cave that has inspired a legend in Tynemouth, England. The cave is between King Edward's Bay and Tynemouth Castle. It was originally known as "Jingling Man's Hole", the "Geordie" being a later addition. Jingling Geordie is reputed to have been a 17th-century pirate and smuggler who used the cave as a lookout for incoming ships. This gave him advance opportunity to lie in wait at the nearby Black Middens where he would lure the ships onto the rocks with lanterns placed to look like boats waiting safely at anchor. He would then plunder the strewn cargoes and hide his booty away in a labyrinth of tunnels running beneath the Castle. Legend has it that Jingling Geordie still had fetters fixed around his legs and the chains rattled everywhere he went. Supposedly the jingle can still be heard on some evenings around the castle walls as his ghost stalks the cliffs keeping a watch over the headland.

Tynemouth is a Tyne and Wear Metro station, serving the coastal town of Tynemouth, North Tyneside in Tyne and Wear, England. It joined the network as a terminus station on 11 August 1980, following the opening of the first phase of the network, between Haymarket and Tynemouth via Four Lane Ends.

Sharpness Point is a small headland projecting into the North Sea at Tynemouth, Tyne and Wear. The O.S. grid reference is NZ371699. It is the only promontory in Northumberland with the -ness suffix. The word ness is a geographical term for a promontory, cape or headland, a strip of land projecting into a body of water, and derives from the Old English næs, meaning headland (related to Old Norse nes).

Tynemouth Lifeboat Station is located on the River Tyne, at Fish Quay, North Shields, in the county of Tyne and Wear. A lifeboat was first stationed across the River Tyne in South Shields in 1789, with a second lifeboat placed in North Shields in 1798, both operated by the Tyne Lifeboat Institution (TLI). The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) currently operates a Severn-class lifeboat 17-34 Osier (ON 1263), and a D-class (IB1) Inshore lifeboat Little Susie (D-829).

Arbeia was a large Roman fort in South Shields, Tyne & Wear, England, now ruined, and which has been partially reconstructed. It was first excavated in the 1870s and all modern buildings on the site were cleared in the 1970s. It is managed by Tyne and Wear Museums as Arbeia Roman Fort and Museum.
