Brock Barracks is a British Army barracks in the town of Reading in the English county of Berkshire. Located on Oxford Road in the district of West Reading. The majority of the buildings and structures within Brock Barracks are Grade II listed.

Elm Park was a football stadium in the West Reading district of Reading, Berkshire, England. The stadium was the home of Reading Football Club from 1896 to 1998, when they moved to the new Madejski Stadium.

On the early morning of 7 May 2005, 16-year-old Mary-Ann Leneghan was stabbed to death in Prospect Park in Reading, Berkshire, UK. The previous evening, Leneghan and a friend had been kidnapped and subjected to hours of assault, rape, and drugging in a local hotel. Her friend was shot in the head, but survived. Six men, four of whom were on probation at the time of the attack, were tried and received life sentences.

The Jewish Community of Berkshire (JCoB) is an Ashkenazi Modern Orthodox Jewish community based in Reading, Berkshire, England.The community was established in 2015, following an accident when the rabbi injured his knee and was unable to walk to synagogue. Its rabbi is Zvi Solomons, formerly the rabbi of Reading Hebrew Congregation. Synagogue services are held in the rabbi's home, and the community hosts the only Orthodox rabbinic couple (Rabbi Zvi Solomons and Rebbetzen Dr Shira Batya Lewin Solomons) and cheder in Berkshire. JCoB also provides a visiting service to schools in the region to teach Judaism as part of the Religious Education syllabus agreed by their local SACREs.

Reading City Football Club is a football club based in Reading, Berkshire, England. They are currently members of the Combined Counties League Premier Division North and play at the Rivermoor Stadium in the Tilehurst area of Reading.

West Reading is a locality or informal subdivision of the town of Reading in the English county of Berkshire, with its own railway station which opened in 1906, by which time its main roads were an established housing area. West Reading is one of multiple suburbs of Reading such as Tilehurst and Whitley.

St Mary's Island is a tiny island in the River Thames in England. It has a size of about 150 m by 50 m.The island is on the reach above Caversham Lock on the western outskirts of the town of Reading, Berkshire. It is close in to the northern (Caversham) bank in an area called The Fishery and is unpopulated.

Prospect Park is a public park in the western suburbs of Reading situated north of the Bath Road in the English county of Berkshire. It is the largest and most popular park in Reading, and includes a large regency style house, now known as Prospect Park Mansion House and previously as Prospect House. There are also sporting facilities and the Prospect Park Miniature Railway within the 50 hectares (120 acres) of parkland, and a restaurant in the Mansion House.The park is listed as Grade II in the English Heritage Register of Historic Parks and Gardens whilst the Mansion House is a Grade II listed building.

The Reading Festival bridge is a temporary footbridge over the River Thames near Reading, Berkshire. First built in 2008, the bridge is installed annually for the Reading Festival to allow access to the main festival site from camping and parking on the north side of the river. Use of the bridge is restricted to festival attendees.It has permanent footings and was first erected for Reading Festival goers of 2008 for £1 million. The intention was that the deck and approaches would be dismantled and stored for most of the year, being re-erected for future festivals. It replaced a ferry service, which caused complaints over excessive queues.The bridge crosses the river from the western end of the main site, in the Borough of Reading which is 200 m (660 ft) east of Scours Lane. The northern end of the bridge lies in the Oxfordshire civil parish of Mapledurham, on land leased from the Mapledurham Estate. Like the main festival site, the northern camp site and car park is pasture for most of the year. For 2009, a wider bridge with improved aesthetics was built with little disruption to river traffic. Only a single two-hour river closure order was needed for installing; and the same for removing. The work was carried out at the bridge site.
