Orio al Serio (Bergamasque: Öre al Sère) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Bergamo in the Italian region of Lombardy, located about 45 kilometres (28 mi) northeast of Milan and about 1 kilometre (1 mi) southeast of Bergamo. Orio al Serio Airport is located in the territory of the village. Orio is also home to the Orio Center, one of the largest shopping malls in Europe.

Opened in 1854, it is located at the junction of lines to Brescia, Lecco, Seregno and Treviglio. The station is currently managed by Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI). However, the commercial area of the passenger building is managed by Centostazioni. Each of these companies is a subsidiary of Ferrovie dello Stato (FS), Italy's state-owned rail company. The train services are operated by Trenord and Trenitalia.

The Monument to Donizetti is located in a public garden in Piazza Cavour, adjacent to the Teatro Donizetti in Bergamo. It commemorates the opera composer Gaetano Donizetti, a native of Bergamo. It was inaugurated in 1897 to mark the centenary of the composer's birth. The monument was designed by Francesco Jerace as a result of a competition. The statuary group is atop a plain plinth engraved only with the composers name. The monument is surrounded by a Basin. Atop, Donizetti sits, realistically depicted, and bound to present world, in the corner of a curved bench. A short distance away stands the lyrical muse, Melpomene, strumming her lyre. The artist, with eyes closed, listens to his inspiration. The statue mixes both realism and the allegory to classical mythology; also expressing the sense that the artists communicates with a superior realm. Donizetti's funereal monument in Bergamo, erected in 1856, also features a mournful lyrical muse.

The Teatro Donizetti is an opera house in Bergamo, Italy. Built in the 1780s using a design by architect Giovanni Francesco Lucchini, the theatre was originally referred to as either the Teatro Nuovo or Teatro di Fiera. The first opera to be mounted at the theatre, Giuseppe Sarti's Medonte, re di Epiro, was in 1784 while the opera house was still under construction. The official opening of the house, under the name the Teatro Riccardi, did not occur until 24 August 1791 with a production of Pietro Metastasio's Didone abbandonata set to music by multiple composers, including Ferdinando Bertoni, Giacomo Rampini, Johann Gottlieb Naumann, Giuseppe Gazzaniga, and Giovanni Paisiello. In 1797 the original theatre was destroyed by a fire, possibly by arson. Lucchini was contracted again to design a new structure to replace the old one and the new house opened on 30 June 1800. The structure uses a horseshoe shape with three tiers of boxes and two galleries. In 1897 the name of the theatre was changed to the Teatro Gaetano Donizetti (now shortened to Teatro Donizetti) on the occasion of the centenary of the composer's birth. Donizetti was born in Bergamo's Borgo Canale quarter and his first opera, Il Pigmalione (composed 1816), was given its world premiere at the theatre on 13 October 1960. Adjacent to the theater is a park with the Monument to Donizetti.

The Monumento al Partigiano or Monument to the Partisan is a bronze monument places in Piazza Matteoti corner with Viale Papa Giovanni XXIII in the lower town of Bergamo, region of Lombardy, Italy. The monument by Giacomo Manzu commemorates the deaths of partisans killed by fascist forces during the World War II. The monument is in the same park, in a spot just northeast of the monument of Vittorio Emanuele II, and across the viale from the Teatro Donizetti.
