Heatherbrae is a suburb of the Port Stephens local government area in the Hunter Region of New South Wales, Australia. The suburb lies to the east of the Hunter River and to the south of the town of Raymond Terrace. It is bisected by the Pacific Highway. At the 2016 census it had a population of 512. Most of the population lives to the west of the Pacific Highway in a housing subdivision while some residents live to the east of the highway in a semi-industrial area. Remaining residents live in rural and semi-rural areas adjacent to the highway and throughout the rest of the suburb. The Worimi people are the traditional owners of the Port Stephens area. In 2016 the median age of the population was 54. 80% were born in Australia, 2.6% New Zealand, 2.2% Pakistan, 2.0% England, 1% Germany and 0.8% China. In terms of religion, 26.1% were Anglican, 21.4% No Religion, 19.0% Catholic, 12.0% Not Stated and 4.5% Uniting Church. In terms of languages spoken other than English, 2.2% speak Urdu, 0.8% Tagalog, 0.6% Italian, 0.6% Serbo-Croatian/Yugoslavian and 0.6% Bengali.

Tomago House is a heritage-listed former residence and now house museum and function centre at Tomago Road, Tomago, New South Wales, Australia. It was built from 1838 to 1840. The design has been attributed to Mortimer Lewis. The property is owned by the National Trust of Australia (NSW). It was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999.

Newcastle Motordrome was a dirt track racing venue located on the Old Punt Road in Tomago, New South Wales, just north of the Hunter River and 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) north of the city of Newcastle. The ¼-mile speedway operated from its opening in 1977 until it was sold in 2002. The site of the Motordrome is now warehouses and light industrial factories.

The Tomago aluminium smelter is located at Tomago, New South Wales, Australia, approximately 13 km west of Newcastle, within the Port Stephens LGA. The smelter has a production capacity of 590,000 tonnes of aluminium (ingot, billet and slab) per year. It is operated by Tomago Aluminium Company, an independently managed joint venture owned by: Rio Tinto Alcan, 51.55% Gove Aluminium Finance Ltd, 36.05% (owned 70% by CSR Limited and 30% by AMP Limited) Hydro Aluminium, 12.40%

Tomago is a combined industrial/semi-rural suburb of the Port Stephens local government area in the Hunter Region of New South Wales, Australia. It is located just north of the Hunter River and west of the body of water known as Fullerton Cove. Tomago means "sweet water" in the local Aboriginal language. In 2016 277 lived in Tomago with a median age of 55, 72.7% born in Australia and 80.4% only speaking English at home.

No. 131 Radar Station RAAF is a heritage-listed former Royal Australian Air Force radar station at Kooragang, City of Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia. They are also known as the Radar Igloo and Radar Buildings. They now operate as the Estuarine Interpretive Centre.It was formed at Richmond, New South Wales on 19 June 1942. After initial training the radar group was sent to Beverley Park, Kogarah on 14 August 1942, then Kyeemagh on 27 August 1942 and to its final posting at Ash Island, Kooragang, Newcastle from 7 September 1942. The radar station on Ash Island was established to detect enemy airborne threats during World War II. It housed British mobile equipment and the most modern Canadian GCI set, which was well protected in two concrete reinforced igloo buildings. No. 131 Radar Station RAAF was disbanded on 18 January 1946. The remains of the Ash Island radar station, which the unit occupied from September 1942 until January 1946, were added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 16 April 2010.

The Hexham Bridge is a pair of road bridges that carry the Pacific Highway across the Hunter River from Tarro to Tomago in the Hunter Region of New South Wales, Australia. It comprises two separate structures; a steel truss bridge opened on the 17 December 1952 by Acting Minister of Transport George Weir and a concrete bridge opened in 1987.

Woodberry is one of the easternmost suburbs of the City of Maitland in the Hunter Region of New South Wales, Australia. At the 2011 census, Woodberry's population was 3,155. Most of the population lives in residential subdivisions while almost 84% of the suburb's land is rural in nature. Rental accommodation is occupied by a third of the residents.It lies to the west of the Hunter River, 2.4 kilometres (1.5 mi) of which forms the suburb's eastern border, separating it from Heatherbrae and Tomago in the Port Stephens local government area. It is connected by road to the adjoining suburbs of Millers Forest, Beresfield and Tarro. Much of Woodberry is low-lying floodplain and when the Hunter River floods, the roads to Millers Forest and Tarro sometimes become impassable. However, the residential area is elevated and access to Beresfield remains available. There is a government co-ed primary school called Woodberry Public School on Lawson Avenue in Woodberry.

Osterley is a small rural suburb of the Port Stephens local government area in the Hunter Region of New South Wales, Australia. Most of the small population lives in the elevated part of the suburb along Hinton Road, east of Barties Creek which is a tributary of the Hunter River. The area to the west of Barties creek is low-lying and subject to periodic flooding. .In 2016 117 people live there with a median age of 46.

Hexham railway station is located on the Main Northern line in New South Wales, Australia. It serves the western Newcastle suburb of Hexham, and was opened on 1 August 1871.Hexham originally had a substantial brick platform building; however, this was demolished in May 1993 and replaced with a lightweight bus-shelter type structure. The station has a full-length island platform; however, the eastern end has been fenced off to a shorter two carriage train length. Until 1987, the Richmond Vale's exchange sidings were located opposite Hexham station. In November 2014, the Australian Rail Track Corporation completed a project that saw the westbound coal road relocated further south to make way for five 1,800 metre passing loops.South of the coal road, Aurizon have a locomotive depot.

Tarro railway station is located on the Main Northern line in New South Wales, Australia. It serves the western Newcastle suburb of Tarro, opening on 1 August 1871.
