Gus Fisher Gallery is a contemporary art gallery owned and operated by The University of Auckland in Auckland, New Zealand. It is located in the Kenneth Myers Centre, a historic building restored in 2000 with the help of the gallery's patron, Gus Fisher (1920–2010). The gallery exhibits a regular programme of socially engaged exhibitions that showcase international and local artists, and an extensive public programme including performances, film screenings, workshops, panel discussions and family activities. Gus Fisher Gallery opened in 2001 as a venue for the first Auckland Triennial, led by inaugural Director Robin Stoney. From 2006 to 2017, it was operated by the University of Auckland Centre for Art Research, which was established in 2006 to support and develop the academic and research activities connected with Gus Fisher Gallery, The University of Auckland Art Collection, and Window, and was led by Director, Linda Tyler. The gallery aimed to present a balanced and relevant programme of curated exhibitions of contemporary and historical art, which interrogates current visual arts knowledge nationally and internationally. In 2008, Gus Fisher Gallery was awarded Metro Magazine's Best Arts Institution in Auckland, from their annual Best of Auckland Issue.In 2018, Gus Fisher Gallery shifted its focus to contemporary art exhibitions with an emphasis on film and video work, reflecting the building's heritage as broadcasting studios. The gallery closed in September 2018 and reopened at the beginning of April 2019, having undergone refurbishments.Gus Fisher Gallery is open Tuesday to Friday, 10am – 5pm, and Saturday 12pm - 4pm. Entry is always free.

The Grand Hotel, at 9 Princes Street, was the leading hotel of Auckland, New Zealand, from 1889 until 1966. With its vaulted ceilings, ornate mantelpieces, and red carpet, the Grand Hotel was a plush and social rendezvous from its opening. The Grand Hotel reopened in 1967/8 as the 'Grand Building' fitted out as offices. The leading hotels of Auckland were in the following order: The Grand Hotel, Princes St (closed 1966), the Central Hotel, Victoria St (closed 1972), the Star Hotel, Albert St (closed 1973), the Royal Hotel, Elliot St (closed 1980s) and the Albert Hotel, Queen St. Consequently, the Grand Hotel facade is the last surviving of the large Victorian- and Edwardian-era hotels in Auckland. "The Grand Hotel fairly shouts Victoriana from the ornate facade and wrought iron balconies to the marble statuary and plush gloominess of its interior. The manager of the Grand Hotel, Mr S T Johnson, has been there only 16 months although he frequently worked on relief for previous managers. Both he and his wife feel closely identified with the hotel and enjoy its atmosphere and old world tranquillity. "Lord Denning stayed here recently and he was delighted," said Mr Johnson, "He said it reminded him of home." – New Zealand Herald 21 May 1966 The Grand Hotel architect was Mr William Skinner, designed in 1887, costing no more than £3000. The Grand Hotel was owned through Hancock and Company Limited by Moss Davis and later by his sons Sir Ernest Davis and Eliot Davis. The hotel was opened by 1889, however, the interior of the third storey was fitted out at a slightly later date around 1890/91. The Grand replaced the earlier Masonic Hotel that was owned by the Ara Masonic Lodge. Additions to the rear of the Grand on Bankside St took place in 1900 by architect John Currie. In 1902 the hotel was rebuilt after the fire, incorporating the front and side facades that had survived. In 1913, a large extension to the Grand Hotel was completed which included a new dining room, kitchen, scullery, and open-cage lift. This was the last major addition to the hotel.

The Northern Club is a private members' club in Auckland, New Zealand. Founded in 1869, today it has more than 2,000 members, drawn from the city's professional and business community. The club's main building is designated as a Category I historic building by the New Zealand Historic Places Trust.

The Vero Centre (constructed as the Royal & SunAlliance Centre) is a skyscraper office tower in Auckland, New Zealand. Constructed in 2000 and designed by architect Peddle Thorp, after its construction it became the tallest building in New Zealand surpassing The Metropolis. The centre contains a health club and gymnasium, main entry public foyer, retail outlets in the 5 podium levels, and 32 office levels. It was New Zealand's tallest office tower until June 2019 when the Commercial Bay Commercial Bay (skyscraper) PwC Tower was topped out. It is also known for its 'halo' roof feature.While atypically tall compared to the surrounding area, its construction is considered to have had a positive effect on the regeneration of the eastern Auckland CBD area. The site had previously been occupied by a number of vacant lots and low-rise buildings, including student accommodation, industrial warehouses and massage parlours. The developer's design process made use of the "bonus provisions" of the District Plan, allowing them to build more floor area in exchange for public benefits such as displayed works of art and a public plaza. The value of these to the general public has however been called into question by some. Also criticised has been the lack of connection between the two frontage streets through the building.The building received several awards for energy efficiency (such as the RICS International Award for Building Efficiency and Regeneration in 2001 and the EnergyWise Award 2004), and has been calculated to use around 10% less energy than the average New Zealand Property Council building. The building houses a number of commissioned artworks, including Coral, by New Zealand sculptor Peter Roche.

Seascape is a residential skyscraper currently under construction in Auckland, New Zealand. When completed in 2024, it will be the tallest residential building in New Zealand, surpassing the 178.7-metre-tall (586 ft) The Pacifica. The building will overlook Auckland city and the surrounding Waitematā Harbour at 187 metres (614 ft) and 56 floors in height. It is set to cost NZ$300 million to complete.

University House is a 19th-century building in Auckland, New Zealand, that originally served as the synagogue for the city's Jewish population. The building is situated on Princes Street, adjacent to Albert Park, and is now occupied by the University of Auckland.

The Pacifica is a residential skyscraper in Auckland, New Zealand. Completed in 2020, it is the tallest residential building in New Zealand, surpassing The Metropolis, but is set to be overtaken in 2024 by the 187 m (614 ft) Seascape. The building overlooks Auckland city and the surrounding harbour at 178.7 metres (586 ft) and 57 floors in height. The top two floors of the building contained a penthouse that sold for NZ$40 million making it the most expensive apartment ever sold in New Zealand. In June 2021, The Pacifica won "Best Residential High Rise Development New Zealand" and "Best Apartment / Condominium New Zealand" in the international property awards.

Auckland Law School is one of the eight faculties that make up the University of Auckland. The Faculty of Law is located at the City Campus, between Waterloo Quadrant and Eden Crescent. Shortland Street was the initial commercial street of Auckland and remains a key financial and legal centre for Auckland city. It runs east from Queen Street up to Princes Street, providing a connection from the business district to the Auckland High Court and University of Auckland.

The Albert Park Volcano was one of the volcanoes in the Auckland volcanic field in New Zealand. A small volcano that erupted approximately 145,000 years ago, the volcanic remnants were quarried during the early colonial history of Auckland between 1840 and 1869. The volcano was dwarfed by the pre-volcanic sandstone ridge of Albert Park directly to the south-east, and only recognised as volcanic by Ferdinand von Hochstetter when he visited Auckland in 1859.

The Ellen Melville Centre is a community centre located in Freyberg Square in central Auckland, New Zealand. It is named after Ellen Melville, the first woman to be elected to the Auckland City Council and the second New Zealand woman to become a lawyer.
