Stillwater State Park

Big Deer State Park is a state park in Groton, Vermont. The park is a campground located in Groton State Forest close to the Groton Nature Center, Boulder Beach State Park and Stillwater State Park. The park features 23 tent/RV sites and 5 lean-tos. There is a restroom with hot showers. A sanitary dump station is available at Stillwater, but no hookups.

Groton Nature Center is a nature center in Groton, Vermont that serves seven area state parks located in Groton State Forest. The free-to-the-public nature center features themed, tactile, and interactive exhibits on park resources, geography, plant and animal life, and human history. The nature center provides educational supplies to help visitors explore the natural world. The center offers naturalist programs, hikes and concerts. Visitors can obtain maps and trail guides for the parks and forest. The Center is within walking distance of Big Deer State Park, Stillwater State Park and Boulder Beach State Park. The other parks in Groton State Forest are Kettle Pond State Park, New Discovery State Park, Ricker Pond State Park and Seyon Lodge State Park. Groton Nature Center is operated by the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks, and Recreation, as part of the Vermont State Park system. In June 2023, the Groton Nature Center celebrated a grand reopening after significant renovations to the structure and exhibits. Vermont Parks Forever, the non-profit foundation for Vermont’s state parks worked with ECHO, Leahy Center for Lake Champlain and Vermont State Parks to collaborate on the renovation of the Groton Nature Center. Interpretive displays, created and installed by the ECHO, Leahy Center for Lake Champlain, were funded by Vermont Parks Forever donors. Reconstruction of the nature center was funded by the Land and Water Conservation Fund. Construction began in summer 2022.

Boulder Beach State Park is a state park in Groton, Vermont located on the western shore of Lake Groton. The park is located in Groton State Forest close to the Groton Nature Center, Big Deer State Park and Stillwater State Park. The park features 75 shaded picnic sites with tables and hibachis. Rest rooms have lavatories and flush toilets. There is 200 feet of beach and swimming area, a cartop boat launch, play area, three large parking lots, and a concession stand. Canoes, kayaks and pedal boats are available to rent.

The forest covers areas in Caledonia, Orange, and Washington Counties. Major roads through the forest are U.S. Route 302 and Vermont Route 232. The forest is managed by the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks, and Recreation for timber resources, wildlife habitat, and recreational activities. It is home to seven state parks: Big Deer State Park, Boulder Beach State Park, Kettle Pond State Park, New Discovery State Park, Ricker Pond State Park, Seyon Lodge State Park and Stillwater State Park. The state also operates the Groton Nature Center to educate about the natural history of the forest and parks. Activities in the park include camping, hiking, swimming, boating, fishing, hunting, trapping, horseback riding, cross country skiing, and snowshoeing. The Montpelier-Wells River Rail Trail, part of the Cross Vermont Trail, is 12 miles long and bisects the length of Groton State Forest. Snowmobiling is allowed on designated VAST trails.

Kettle Pond State Park is a state park near Marshfield, Vermont in the United States. It is one of seven state parks located in Groton State Forest. The park is on Vermont Route 232 two miles west of Groton. The park is located on Kettle Pond (109 acres), an undeveloped pond. Activities includes camping, boating, fishing, swimming, hiking, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing.Features include 26 lean-tos arranged into five separate groups designed to accommodate groups. there are also individual lean-tos There is a composting toilet for each group site and two double pit toilets, but no potable water at this site. There are six remote campsites/lean-tos on the pond.

New Discovery State Park is a state park near Marshfield, Vermont in the United States. It is one of seven state parks located in Groton State Forest. The park is on Vermont Route 232, offering camping, picnicking, and access to forest trails. The park was developed in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps; its major CCC-built facilities, located mainly in western Peacham, were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.

Molly's Falls Pond State Park is a 1,064-acre state park in Cabot and Marshfield, Vermont surrounding 411-acre Molly's Falls Pond, a reservoir that is also known as Marshfield Reservoir. This is an undeveloped, day-use park. There is a Vermont Fish and Wildlife access area at the northwest end of the park with a concrete boat ramp and two fishing platforms for shore fishing.

Signal Mountain is a mountain located in Caledonia County, Vermont, in the Groton State Forest. Signal Mountain is flanked to the northwest by Spruce Mountain, and to the southwest by Butterfield Mountain. The north side of Signal Mountain drains into Noyes Pond, thence into the South Branch of the Wells River, the upper Connecticut River, and into Long Island Sound in Connecticut. The east side drains into Heath Brook, thence into the South Branch of the Wells River. The south side drains into the Waits River, another tributary of the Connecticut. The west side drains into Great Brook, thence into the Winooski River, Lake Champlain, and ultimately into the Gulf of Saint Lawrence in Canada.

The Whitehill House is a historic house on Groton-Peacham Road in Ryegate, Vermont. Built in 1808, it is the oldest surviving building in Ryegate, and a distinctive example of stonework by Scottish immigrants. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.

Marshfield is a town in Washington County, Vermont, United States. The population was 1,583 at the 2020 census.

The J.R. Darling Store is a historic commercial building at 1334 Scott Highway (United States Route 302) in Groton, Vermont. It was built about 1895 on a site that has long housed commercial activity, and was the town's last general store. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.

Groton is the primary village and a census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Groton, Caledonia County, Vermont, United States. As of the 2020 census, the CDP had a population of 419, out of 984 in the entire town of Groton. Groton village is in southern Caledonia County, in the southeast corner of the town of Groton, along U.S. Route 302, which leads southeast 10 miles (16 km) to Wells River and southwest 20 miles (32 km) to Barre. The Wells River flows through the village, running southeast to the Connecticut River at the village of Wells River.
