Davenport railway station serves the Davenport suburb of Stockport, Greater Manchester, England. The station is 7 miles (11 km) south east of Manchester Piccadilly on the Buxton Line.

Hillcrest Grammar School in Cale Green, Stockport, Greater Manchester was a private day school with around 200 pupils aged 3 to 16. The school was founded as a boys' preparatory school in 1940 on Hillcrest Road in Bramhall. It became co-educational in the 1950s and also started to take pupils up to age 16 and added Grammar to its title. The school moved in 1983 to the former "Stockport High School for Girls" building built in 1910 in the Cale Green district of Stockport, close to Davenport railway station. The old part of the building is locally listed. A sports hall with four badminton courts was built in 1994 and a new pre-preparatory department in 2003. A new Preparatory Building with facilities for the Nursery was opened by Olympic Swimmer Michael Rock in October 2009. The school closed in July 2014 due to financial issues that began in 2007. Hillcrest was accredited by the Independent Schools Council. The school was owned and operated by a registered charity "Hillcrest Grammar School (Bramhall Educational Trust Limited)", which is also a limited company.

It is an active Anglican parish church in the deanery of Stockport, the archdeaconry of Macclesfield, and the diocese of Chester. Its benefice is united with that of St Gabriel, Adswood. The church is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade I listed building. The authors of the Buildings of England series express the opinion that it is "by far the grandest church of Stockport", and state "St George is a church on a splendid scale". According to the visitors' guide to the church, the Rt Revd Geoffrey Fisher, former archbishop of Canterbury, said that it is "the finest church built in England since the Reformation".

Woodsmoor is a suburb of Stockport in Greater Manchester, England The area is served by Woodsmoor railway station, opened by British Rail in 1990.The area is populated by many large and old trees, existing since the time that it was the estate of the house which eventually became Stockport Grammar School. A former golf course links Woodsmoor with Stepping Hill and Hazel Grove.

Edgeley Park is a football stadium in Edgeley, Stockport, England. Built for Stockport RFC, a rugby league club, in 1891, by 1903 the rugby club was defunct and Stockport County Football Club moved in. The ground is set to be increased to a capacity of around 19,900 with the start of the project in 2023. Edgeley Park is currently an all-seater stadium holding 10,900 spectators. Stockport County shared it with Sale Sharks Rugby Union Club between 2003 and 2012. In 2015, Stockport Council purchased the stadium for around £2 million, leasing it back to the football club, in order to prevent it from being demolished and redeveloped.

Our Lady and the Apostles Church is a Roman Catholic Parish church in the Edgeley area of Stockport, Greater Manchester, England. It was built from 1903 to 1905 and replaced St Philip and St James Church, built in 1803, which was the first permanent Catholic church to be built in Stockport after the English Reformation. It is situated on the corner of Shaw Heath and Greek Street, south west of Stockport College and south of Stockport railway station. It was built in the Gothic Revival style by the architect Edmund Kirby and is a Grade II listed building.

Founded in 1487 by former Lord Mayor of London Sir Edmund Shaa, it is the second oldest in the North of England, after Lancaster Royal Grammar School, and a member of the Headmasters' and Headmistresses' Conference.

The church is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade I listed building. It was a Commissioners' church, having received a grant towards its construction from the Church Building Commission.When it was built, Stockport was in the county of Cheshire, and it was the only church in that county to receive money from the first parliamentary grant administered by the Commission. It was designed by the architect George Basevi, and was one of his earlier works. It is his only surviving Commissioners' church.
