Nossen (Upper Sorbian: Nosyn, pronounced [ˈnɔsɨn]) is a town in the district of Meissen, in Saxony, Germany. It is located 80 km southeast of Leipzig. The town is dominated by a large Renaissance castle. Nossen is best known for its proximity to a motorway junction where the A14 merges onto the A4.

The Bobritzsch is a river of Saxony, Germany. It is a right tributary of the Freiberger Mulde with a length of about 38 km (24 mi). Its Gewässerkennzahl is 5422.

Bieberstein Castle (German: Schloss Bieberstein) is located on the left bank of the river Bobritzsch in Bieberstein, part of Reinsberg municipality, in Landkreis Mittelsachsen, Saxony. A nobleman Günther von Bieberstein who named himself after the castle was first mentioned in a document of 1218. A bergfried with square footprint reminds of the medieval castle which was later transformed into an early modern castle. The latter was joined to the medieval bergfried into a contiguous building around 1600. Originally, the castle consisted of two parts called Ober- and Niederbieberstein. It was successively acquired by various members of the family von Schönberg. After 1650 parts of the lower castle were dismantled. Gotthelf Friedrich von Schönberg (1631–1708), counsellor of the Saxon prince-elector, bought the castle in 1656, had most of its upper part pulled down to the foundation walls in 1666 and had it rebuilt into its present-day shape. The outside staircase on the western side and the interior stairway with four flights were built between 1710 and 1720. Bieberstein castle served as a youth hostel until 1992. It was acquired by Maritta Rogalla von Bieberstein Koch-Weser wife of Caio Koch-Weser, and is now used as a conference centre.

Altzella Abbey, also Altzelle Abbey (German: Kloster Altzella or Altzelle, previously Cella or Cella Sanctae Mariae), is a former Cistercian monastery near Nossen in Saxony, Germany. The former abbey contains the tombs of the Wettin margraves of Meissen from 1190 to 1381. The premises and gardens, surrounded by the precinct wall of the former monastery, and known as the Klosterpark Altzella, are now maintained by the Schloss Nossen/Kloster Altzella Administration, and consist of a Romantic park, ruins and restored buildings, used for various cultural and religious functions, such as Corpus Christi processions. It also hosts conferences and private functions.

Halsbrücker Esse is a smokestack to the north of Halsbrücke near Freiberg in Saxony, Germany. It is also known as Hohe Esse or Halsbrück(e)ner Esse, Esse being an East Central German word for a smokestack. With a height of 140 m (460 ft) it was the highest smokestack of the world at its completion (nowadays the Anaconda Smelter Stack in Montana is higher), and it remains the tallest brick building in Europe. It is a technical and industrial historical monument.

Ketzerbachtal is a former municipality in the district of Meißen, in Saxony, Germany. Since 1 January 2014, it is part of the town Nossen.
