St. Matthew Cathedral is a Catholic cathedral in South Bend, Indiana, United States. Along with Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Fort Wayne, it is the seat of the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend.

James Whitcomb Riley High School is a high school in South Bend, Indiana; serving most of the city's south side. The school is named in honor of the "Hoosier Poet", James Whitcomb Riley. The school is operated by South Bend Community School Corporation and governed by the SBSC's Board of School Trustees.

It was built about 1875, and consists of a two-story, rectangular main block with a one-story wing and two-story ell. It is representative of the Upright and Wing vernacular wood-frame house type. It encompasses 27.6-acres and includes 51 contributing buildings, 2 additional contributing structures, and 1 further contributing site (Howard Park, named after state supreme justice Timothy Edward Howard). It developed between about 1880 and 1947, and includes notable examples of Queen Anne, Colonial Revival, Renaissance Revival, Prairie School, and Bungalow / American Craftsman style architecture and works by architects Austin & Shambleau. Notable buildings include the Sunnyside Apartments (1922), Studebaker / Johnson House (1907), Zion Evangelical Church (1888, 1930), the Works Progress Administration built Howard Park Administrative Building (1940), and Lister / Plotkin House (1882).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999.

South Michigan Street Historic District is a national historic district located at South Bend, St. Joseph County, Indiana. It encompasses nine contributing buildings on a commercial strip in South Bend. It developed between 1911 and 1945, and included notable examples of Classical Revival architecture. The buildings are primarily two-story, brick commercial buildings, some with stone or terra cotta trim. They include the former Smith-Alsop Paint Store Building (1922), Myer-Seeberger Building (1916), Whitmer-McNeese Building (1928), and LaSalle Paper Company Building (1925).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.

Old Courthouse, also known as the Second St. Joseph County Courthouse, is a historic courthouse located at South Bend, St. Joseph County, Indiana. It was designed by architect John M. Van Osdel (1811-1891) and built in 1853. It is a two-story, Greek Revival style stone building. The building measures 61 feet wide and 93 feet deep. It features a projecting front portico supported by Doric order columns and a front gable roof topped by a cupola. It was moved to its present site in 1896. Following construction of the Third St. Joseph County Courthouse, the building housed the local G.A.R. chapter and historical museum.: 2–3  The building now houses office of the Traffic and Misdemeanor Court and Small Claims Court.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970. It is located in the West Washington Historic District.

East Washington Street Historic District is a national historic district located at South Bend, St. Joseph County, Indiana. It encompasses 71 contributing buildings and 1 contributing structure in a predominantly residential section of South Bend. It developed between about 1880 and 1947, and includes notable examples of Italianate, Colonial Revival, American Foursquare, and Bungalow / American Craftsman style architecture and works by architects Austin & Shambleau. Notable buildings include the James and Marie Zimmerman House (1921), Eger House (1911), George and Emma Hewitt House (1905), Ruth and Edwin H. Sommerer House (1930), Chauncey T. Fassett House (1898), Dougdale Carriage Barn (1900), and Sunnyside Presbyterian Church (1923, 1951).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999.

South Bend Community School Corporation (SBCSC), located in South Bend, Indiana, is St. Joseph County's oldest and largest school corporation, and the fifth largest in the state. They have 30 schools and seven support facilities in a geographical area covering 160 miles. It serves most of South Bend, Indian Village, Notre Dame, and Roseland, as well as portions of Granger and Mishawaka.

Studebaker was an American wagon and automobile manufacturer based in South Bend, Indiana, with a building at 1600 Broadway, Times Square, Midtown Manhattan, New York City. Founded in 1852 and incorporated in 1868 as the Studebaker Brothers Manufacturing Company, the firm was originally a coachbuilder, manufacturing wagons, buggies, carriages and harnesses. Studebaker entered the automotive business in 1902 with electric vehicles and in 1904 with gasoline vehicles, all sold under the name "Studebaker Automobile Company". Until 1911, its automotive division operated in partnership with the Garford Company of Elyria, Ohio, and after 1909 with the E-M-F Company and with the Flanders Automobile Company. The first gasoline automobiles to be fully manufactured by Studebaker were marketed in August 1912.: 231  Over the next 50 years, the company established a reputation for quality, durability and reliability.After an unsuccessful 1954 merger with Packard (the Studebaker-Packard Corporation) and failure to solve chronic postwar cashflow problems, the 'Studebaker Corporation' name was restored in 1962, but the South Bend plant ceased automobile production on December 20, 1963, and the last Studebaker automobile rolled off the Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, assembly line on March 17, 1966. Studebaker continued as an independent manufacturer before merging with Wagner Electric in May 1967 and then Worthington Corporation in November 1967 to form Studebaker-Worthington.

The Century Center Convention Center, designed by architects Philip Johnson and John Burgee, broke construction in 1974 and opened in 1977, has been managed by SMG since July, 2013. The center, built on the banks of the West Race canal, overlooks the St. Joseph River in downtown South Bend, Indiana, United States. It features over 75,000 sq ft (7,000 m2). of convention space and is home to Island Park, an 11-acre (45,000 m2) riverfront park attached to the convention center via a cross walk over the West Race canal. Century Center includes a 25,000 sq ft (2,300 m2) Convention Hall that can be split into two smaller halls. This level also offers a 12,000 sq ft (1,100 m2) Discovery Ballroom that can be separated into two equal halls. Century Center Convention Center's 16,000 sq ft (1,500 m2) Great Hall is includes a 30 ft (9.1 m) glass wall which overlooks the St. Joseph River. Eighteen meeting rooms, with over 35 combinations, complement the overall space. A pre-function area is located on the lower level adjacent to the Great Hall. A two-story high glass wall encompasses the Great Hall, with a view of the St. Joseph River. The Century Center Convention Center provides access via an enclosed, climate-controlled skywalk to a 300-room DoubleTree hotel. It houses the South Bend Museum of Art and is connected by a tunnel to the former College Football Hall of Fame.

Blackstone-State Theater is a historic theatre building located at South Bend, St. Joseph County, Indiana. It was built in 1919, and is a four-story, Classical Revival style brick and terra cotta building. The first floor has four storefronts and the theatre entrance. The upper floors form a loggia that rises to the fourth floor and supported by four pairs of fluted columns. The theater originally sat 2,500 patrons.: 57 The theater was closed between 1977 and 1994, and it closed again in 2016.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.
