Prospect is the seat of the City of Prospect and an inner northern suburb of greater Adelaide. It is located 5 km (3.1 mi) north of Adelaide's centre. Surrounding suburbs include Kilburn, Fitzroy, Medindie and Devon Park. The suburb has boundaries of Main North Road to the East; Carter Street, Audley Avenue and Avenue Road to the South; The Gawler railway line to the west, and a line 400m north of Regency Road (Livingstone Avenue, Angwin Avenue and Henrietta Street) to the north. Prospect comprises a large majority of the land area (about five-sevenths, or 71%) of the City of Prospect council area.

North Road Cemetery is located in the Adelaide suburb of Nailsworth, approximately 5 km north of the central business district. It is 7.3 hectares (18 acres) in size and there have been over 24,000 burials since its foundation in 1853. The original size of the cemetery was 0.8 hectare (2 acres) and was established by South Australia's first Anglican bishop, Augustus Short on land which he owned. The cemetery is still maintained by the Anglican Diocese of Adelaide.

The City of Prospect is an inner urban local government area (LGA) in Adelaide, South Australia. The council seat is the unusually-large suburb of Prospect, which makes up almost two thirds of the tiny council area, which is less than 8 km2 (3.1 sq mi). Established in 1872, it is one of the oldest local government bodies in South Australia. The demographics of the suburb show an above-average preponderance of young professionals, and a growing population.

Prospect was an electoral district of the House of Assembly in the Australian state of South Australia from 1938 to 1956.The seat of Prospect was abolished and replaced by the new seat of Enfield for the 1956 election. The current Prospect booths are marginal Labor, with the suburb represented by the marginal Liberal seat of Adelaide up to Regency Road, with the small northern remainder of Prospect represented by the fairly safe Labor seat of Enfield.

Prospect Oval is a sports stadium located at Menzies Crescent, Prospect, South Australia. The oval has a capacity of 20,000 people with seated grandstands holding approximately 2,000. An unusual feature of the oval is that it is laid out askew from the conventional orientation of Australian rules football and cricket ovals, with the goal posts located at the South-Western and the North-Eastern ends, and the cricket pitch running in the same direction. All other grounds in the SANFL run in a north-south direction. It is home to both the North Adelaide Football Club ("The Roosters"), who are a part of the South Australian National Football League, and the Prospect Cricket Club, who are members of the South Australian Grade Cricket League, administered by the South Australian Cricket Association. The ground record attendance was set in Round 5 of the 1958 SANFL season when 19,137 saw defending SANFL premiers Port Adelaide defeat North Adelaide 14.14 (98) to 8.10 (58). The oval's dimensions for Australian football are 170m x 120m. The oval was opened in 1898 by the colonial Premier at the time Sir Charles Kingston. The North Adelaide Football Club first used the Oval for home games in 1922 with the first match taking place on 8 May 1922 with North Adelaide playing Glenelg. The North Adelaide Roosters have used Prospect Oval as its home ground ever since, except for a time during World War II when, due to a lack of available players, they joined forces with Norwood. The combined team used Norwood Oval as their home ground. The North Adelaide Football Club officially renamed both ends of Prospect Oval in 2012 after the two official Icons of the Club. The northern end around the goals was named the Ken Farmer End after the club and SANFL's all-time leading goalkicker while the southern end was named the Barrie Robran End after the three time Magarey Medal winner.

Dudley Park railway station is located on the Gawler line. Situated in the inner northern Adelaide suburb of Dudley Park, it is located 4.9 kilometres (3.0 mi) from Adelaide station.

The Prescott Schools are a collection of independent Seventh-day Adventist co-educational primary and secondary day schools located in various suburbs in Adelaide, South Australia, Australia. Prescott Secondary College is a secondary school with year levels beginning from Year 7 through to Year 12 and is located in the Adelaide suburb of Prospect. Prescott College Southern is a primary and secondary school catering for the southern Adelaide suburbs and is located in Morphett Vale. Prescott Primary Northern is located in Para Vista and caters for students from R to Year 7. The schools are connected with other Seventh-day Adventist schools throughout the Oceania region. It is part of the Seventh-day Adventist Church's worldwide educational system, the world's second-largest Christian school system.

Nailsworth is a suburb four km north of Adelaide, South Australia. The suburb borders Sefton Park, Prospect, Broadview, Medindie Gardens and Collinswood. The North Road Cemetery is located within the suburb and was founded by Bishop Augustus Short in 1853. It contains the graves of some prominent South Australians.

Dudley Park Cemetery is a cemetery in Dudley Park, a northern suburb of Adelaide, South Australia. The cemetery caters for various forms of burial and memorial in different areas. The Caroline Gardens area is based around the former Caroline Square in the original plan for the village of Islington. The square was the site of a Primitive Methodist chapel established in 1845 and its burial ground was established in 1864.The cemetery was originally known as the Islington Cemetery. In 1922, a letter to the editor of a newspaper noted that the closest railway station to the Islington Methodist Cemetery was the Dudley Park railway station, not the Islington railway station further north. A few years later, the name of the cemetery was changed to Dudley Park at which time it had 900 people buried. In 1936, Dudley Park Cemetery was considered to have sufficient land to operate for at least another 60 years without further extension. Payneham Cemetery was operated by the same Methodist Church board and considered to be filled within a few years.In 2013, the available space had been filled, and graves were being identified for redevelopment.Notable people buried at the cemetery include: William Henry Cann (1857–1942) Methodist minister Maude Mary Puddy (1883–1974) musician Arthur Erwin Vogt (1907–1987) Methodist minister and social worker Reginald Arthur West (1883–1964) headmaster

Blackfriars Priory School is a private Roman Catholic school for boys situated in Prospect, an inner-northern suburb of Adelaide, South Australia. It is conducted by the Dominican Friars of the Province of the Assumption.

Dudley Park, is a suburb of Adelaide, South Australia, located approximately 3 kilometres north-west of the CBD. The suburb is bordered by Regency Road (north), Simpson Avenue (south), the Adelaide-Gawler railway line (east), and a line directly north–south from the Harrison Road-Simpson Avenue intersection to Regency Road (west). The Dudley Park Cemetery is located within the suburb at the corner of Simpson Avenue and Exeter Terrace. Two railway stations border the suburb, Islington railway station and Dudley Park railway station.

Islington railway station is located on the Gawler line. Situated in the inner northern Adelaide suburb of Prospect adjacent to Regency Road, it is 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) from the Adelaide station.
