Orion Charter Township ( ORR-ee-ən) is a charter township of Oakland County, Michigan, United States. The population was 39,816 as on July 1, 2019.The official motto of the township and village is "Where living is a vacation". "Lake Orion" is often used to describe both the village and the township. The township hosts General Motors' Orion Assembly plant which produces small cars.

The Scripps Mansion (originally called Moulton Manor) is a Normandy Tudor-style mansion located in Orion Township, Michigan. The buildings and surrounding land are known collectively as the William E. Scripps Estate. Since 1956, the property has been part of the campus of Guest House, a residential treatment center for Catholic clergy. The estate was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.

Betsy King won the first of her two consecutive titles, four strokes ahead of runner-up Nancy Lopez. It was the second of King's six major titles. With the win, her fifth in 1989, she became the first in the history of the LPGA Tour to exceed $500,000 in earnings for a single season.Ending the third round on Saturday, King lost four shots on the last four holes and fell into the 54-hole co-lead with Patty Sheehan. The Sunday gallery was the largest to date at the U.S. Women's Open, exceeding 25,000, and King birdied the first hole on the way to a 68. Sheehan, a future champion in 1992 and 1994, carded a disappointing 79 and finished tied for 17th.The championship returned to Indianwood five years later, in 1994, won by Sheehan.

Patty Sheehan, the 1992 champion, won her second title in three years, one stroke ahead of runner-up Tammie Green, for the fifth of her six major titles. The event was televised by ESPN and ABC Sports. Sheehan birdied the 16th hole and Green had a chance to force a Monday playoff, but her 12-foot (3.7 m) birdie putt on the 72nd hole did not fall.Helen Alfredsson opened with 63 (−8) on the first day to better the single round record at the U.S. Women's Open by two strokes. She also set the record for the first 36 holes at 132 (−10), but carded 153 (+11) on the weekend. She had been as low as 13-under after 43 holes.

Indianwood Golf and Country Club or simply "Indianwood" is a private member-only country club located in Orion Township, Oakland County, near Lake Orion, Michigan. The club is approximately 35 miles (56 km) north of Detroit.

Lake Orion is an all-sports, 470-acre lake in Orion Township in Oakland County, Michigan. It has a maximum depth of 58 feet (18 m). The lake is located within the Village of Lake Orion and Orion Township. It is the eighth largest lake by area in Oakland County, Michigan. The current area of the lake was formed by a collection of smaller lakes over time, beginning with the damming of Paint Creek in the 1830s. Canals have also been dredged to maximize lake frontage. There is a public access boat launch on the northern side of the lake. It is administered by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.

Stadium Drive Elementary School of the Arts is an elementary school located in Orion Township, Michigan, USA. It is a nationally recognized Blue Ribbon School, awarded for the 2000-2001 school year. One of seven elementary schools in the Lake Orion Community Schools, Stadium Drive was built in 1972 - around the time when many schools were built in the district - and houses Kindergarten through fifth grades. The building includes a gymnasium, a media center, a technology lab, a music room, an art room, and a theater room. Stadium Drive is an arts-focused school, where its administrators believe that "Academics Shine Through the Arts." In addition, Stadium Drive was the first elementary school in the Lake Orion School District to be awarded the Outcomes Endorsement status from the North Central Association. It was awarded the ArtServe Michigan "School of Distinction" status in May 2000.Prosecutors filed weapons charges against a seven-year-old boy who allegedly brought a loaded pistol to the school and threatened the life of a fellow student in March 1999. Authorities said the Stadium Drive student is the youngest child in recent memory to face criminal charges in Oakland County.

Lake Orion ( ORR-ee-ən) is a village in the northern outskirts of Metro Detroit in Oakland County, Michigan, United States. The population was 2,973 at the 2010 census. "Lake Orion" can refer to either the village or the much larger Orion Township, of which the village is a part. Lake Orion began as a resort town and over time has incorporated elements of a bedroom community.

Lake Orion Historic District is a commercial and residential historic district located in Lake Orion, Michigan and roughly bounded by Elizabeth Street, Hauxwell Drive, Front Street, and Lapeer Street. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006.

The Indian Lake Road Stone Arch Bridge is a former railroad bridge which now carries a hiking/biking path over Indian Lake Road, just east of M-24 near Orion, Michigan. It is one of only a small number of stone arch railroad bridges known to exist in Michigan. The bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.
