Thorncreek Township is one of nine townships in Whitley County, Indiana, United States. As of the 2010 census, its population was 4,166 and it contained 1,894 housing units.The township has two main population clusters. The southern edge of the township consists of the unincorporated northern suburban developments of Columbia City, and in the extreme northeastern part of the township there is the unincorporated settlement and census-designated place known as Tri-Lakes.

Thomas R. Marshall House, also known as the Whitley County Historical Museum, is a historic home located at Columbia City, Whitley County, Indiana. It was built in 1874, and is a two-story, "L"-plan, frame dwelling. It was remodeled in 1895. It features a nearly full-with front porch supported by paired Doric order columns and a projecting two-story bay. It was the home of Indiana Governor and U.S. Vice President Thomas R. Marshall.: 2 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

Columbia City Historic District is a national historic district located at Columbia City, Whitley County, Indiana. The district encompasses 197 contributing buildings in the central business district and surrounding residential sections of Columbia City. It developed between about 1840 and 1937 and includes representative examples of Greek Revival, Italianate, Queen Anne, Second Empire, Classical Revival, and Bungalow / American Craftsman style architecture. Located in the district is the separately listed Whitley County Courthouse. Other notable contributing buildings include the former Whitley County Courthouse (1841), Adams Y. Hooper Residence (c. 1860), Thomas Shorb Residence (c. 1875), William McNagny Residence (c. 1880), Elisha L. McLallen House (1905), Whitley County Jail (1875), City Hall (1917), Peabody (Carnegie) Library (1919), U.S. Post Office (1935), Central Building (1872), D.B. Clugston Block (1889), Masonic Temple (1904), Church of the Brethren (1889), Presbyterian Church (1892), Methodist Church (1912), and Baptist Church (1917).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.

The Whitley County Courthouse is an historic courthouse building located at Van Buren and Main Streets in Columbia City, Indiana, the seat of Whitley County. It was constructed in 1888, and is a three-story, cruciform plan, French Renaissance style Indiana limestone building designed by Brentwood S. Tolan. It has a slate roof and galvanized iron central dome.The courthouse was added to the National Register of Historic Places on February 16, 1979.

Collins is an unincorporated community in Smith Township, Whitley County, in the U.S. state of Indiana. It is commonly referred to as a 'ghost town', however this is untrue; Collins just has a very low population and once contained an abandoned school, a General Store, and a Mint mill that processed locally grown peppermint. Collins was also a major grower of Onions, and the Vandalia Railroad shipped tons of onions to national markets.
