The Freedom Congregational Church is a registered historical building in Freedom Township, Portage County, Ohio. It was listed on the United States National Register of Historic Places on July 7, 1975. The church is located at 8961 State Route 88 in the triangular area near the center of Freedom where State Routes 88, 700, and 303 meet.

The John Johnson farm is a historic home and listing on the National Register of Historic Places in Hiram Township, just west of the village of Hiram, Ohio, United States. The home, built in 1828, is a significant location in the history of the Latter Day Saint movement as the home of Joseph Smith and his family from September 1831 to March 1832. While Smith lived at the home, it served as the headquarters of the Church of Christ and was the site of several revelations to Smith and other Church leaders. The Johnson Farm is also significant as the site of the tarring and feathering of Joseph Smith and Sidney Rigdon in March 1832.The Smiths returned to Kirtland in 1832 and the Johnsons moved to Kirtland the following year. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints purchased the property in 1956 and began using it as a historical site. From 1971 to 2002, the adjoining farm was used to grow and process apples and strawberries as part of the Church's welfare program. The home was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976 and restored to its original appearance in 2001. It continues to operate as a tourist attraction, staffed by volunteer missionaries.

The Hiram College Library was established in 1900 as part of the Hiram College, previously known as the Western Reserve Eclectic Institute. The construction of its predecessor, the Teachout-Cooley Library, was funded by Abram Teachout. The collection consisted of books donated by the literary societies and the depository collection. The first of several additions made to the building was constructed in 1923.

Hiram College ( HY-rəm) is a private liberal arts college in Hiram, Ohio. It was founded in 1850 as the Western Reserve Eclectic Institute by Amos Sutton Hayden and other members of the Disciples of Christ Church. The college is nonsectarian and coeducational. It is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. Among its alumni is James A. Garfield, who also served as a college instructor and principal before he was President of the United States.

The Mantua Bog State Nature Preserve (or Mantua Swamp) is a 104.8-acre (42.4 ha) protected wetland in Mantua Township, Portage County in the U.S. state of Ohio. It was designated a National Natural Landmark in 1976 and a state nature preserve in 1990. The national landmark designation encompasses 285 acres (115 ha) which includes Marsh Wetlands State Nature Preserve, in addition to Mantua Bog State Nature Preserve.The nature preserve includes different types of wetlands including swamp forest, boreal bog, and cattail marshes. Twenty-four state-listed plants have been identified in the bog including autumn willow (Salix serissima), bunchflower (Melanthium virginicum), and cranberry (Vaccinium oxycoccos). In 2000, the Ohio Odonata Survey found a breeding population of the brush-tipped emerald dragonfly (Somatochlora walshii), a species not previously known to exist in Ohio.Access is by permit only (from the Division of Natural Areas and Preserves) due to the sensitivity of the wetland.

Mantua ( MAN-ə-way) is a village in northern Portage County, Ohio, United States, along the Cuyahoga River. The population was 1,001 at the time of the 2020 census. It is part of the Akron metropolitan area. It was formed from portions of Mantua Township in the Connecticut Western Reserve.

Crestwood High School is a public high school in Mantua, Ohio, United States. It is the only high school in the Crestwood Local School District and since the 2021–22 school year serves students in grades 7 through 12. Their athletic teams are known as the Red Devils.

Hiram Rapids is an unincorporated community in Portage County, in the U.S. state of Ohio.
