Undheim Church

Undheim is a village in Time municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. The village is located in Jæren, about 14 kilometres (8.7 mi) south of the village of Ålgård, about 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) southeast of the town of Bryne, and about 7 kilometres (4.3 mi) east of the village of Nærbø. The village of Mossige lies just to the northwest of Undheim.The 0.42-square-kilometre (100-acre) village has a population (2015) of 497, giving the village a population density of 1,183 inhabitants per square kilometre (3,060/sq mi).The main economic activity in and around Undheim is agriculture. It is mainly centered around dairy, beef, pork, and sheep, as well as cultivating fungi and potatoes. The Norwegian poet and writer Arne Garborg (1851-1924) was born on a small farm just outside Undheim. Undheim Church is located in the village.

Time is a municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. It is located in the traditional district of Jæren. The administrative centre of the municipality is the town of Bryne. Some villages in the municipality include Kvernaland, Lyefjell, Mossige, and Undheim. Most of Time is fairly flat and it is used for agriculture. The eastern portion of the municipality is more rugged moorland.The 183-square-kilometre (71 sq mi) municipality is the 309th largest by area out of the 356 municipalities in Norway. Time is the 66th most populous municipality in Norway with a population of 19,353. The municipality's population density is 113.3 inhabitants per square kilometre (293/sq mi) and its population has increased by 15.4% over the previous 10-year period.

Jæren is a traditional district in Rogaland county, Norway. The other districts in Rogaland are Dalane, Ryfylke, and Haugalandet. Jæren is one of the 15 districts that comprise Western Norway. At about 700 square kilometres (270 sq mi), Jæren is the largest flat lowland area in Norway, stretching from the municipality of Randaberg in the north to Hå in the south. It includes the whole Stavanger Peninsula and the mainland area at its base. The coast is flat compared to the rest of the mountainous Norwegian coast, and it has sandy beaches along most of the coastline. The largest urban area in Jæren is the adjoining cities of Stavanger/Sandnes (pop. 210,874 in 2015).

Mossige is a village in Time municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. The village is a small farming village composed of about one dozen farms and homes. It is located about 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) southeast of the town of Bryne, the same distance northeast of the village of Nærbø, and about 3.5 kilometres (2.2 mi) west of the village of Undheim.

Lyefjell is a village in Time municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. The village is located in the hills about 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) east of the town of Bryne and about 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) north of the villages of Mossige and Undheim. The village is a residential area that was built in the hills so that the flat, agricultural areas could continue to be used for farming. It is just to the south of the mountain Njåfjellet and the village has views of the flat plains of Jæren below. The 0.87-square-kilometre (210-acre) village has a population (2015) of 2,253 which gives the village a population density of 2,590 inhabitants per square kilometre (6,700/sq mi). There is an elementary and middle school in Lyefjell as well as three large pre-schools. There is also a well stocked grocery store right next to the local auto shop. The grocery store also serves as a delivery point for packages for Posten and Postnord.

Time Church (Norwegian: Time kyrkje) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Time Municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. It is located in the village of Time, just a short distance east of the town of Bryne. It is the church for the Time parish which is part of the Jæren prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Stavanger. The white, wooden church was built in a long church style in 1859 using designs by the architect Hans Linstow. The church seats about 700 people.

Åna Prison (Norwegian: Åna fengsel) is a prison in Hå municipality in Rogaland, Norway. It is one of the largest prisons and has capacity for 219 inmates, 140 in a closed prison and 24 in a department with an open prison. The prison is for male inmates. There is no wall around the prison, but there are still very few escapes. The prison is located approximately an hour's drive south of Stavanger. There is no bus service to the prison. Åna is the largest correctional institution in the Southwestern Region of the Norwegian Correctional Services. Åna prison is also one of the largest Norwegian governmental owned farms.

The larger Kvernaland area is an amalgamation of villages in Rogaland county, Norway. The village is located along the north end of the lake Frøylandsvatnet. The village is located in both the municipalities of Klepp and Time (and a very small part extends into Sandnes municipality as well). The eastern part of the village (in Klepp) is also known as Orstad and the western part of the village (in Time) is known as Frøyland or simply as Kvernaland. The village of Klepp stasjon lies just southwest of the village on the west side of the lake and the small village of Foss Eikjeland lies just north of the village, along the river Figgjo.The 4.27-square-kilometre (1,060-acre) village has a population (2019) of 7,358 which gives the village a population density of 1,723 inhabitants per square kilometre (4,460/sq mi). About 2.58-square-kilometre (640-acre) of the village is located in Klepp and that part has 4,058 residents. There are 3,267 residents in the 1.31-square-kilometre (320-acre) part located in Time. There is also a very small part of Kvernaland (0.38 square kilometres or 94 acres) located in Sandnes municipality with 33 residents.Kvernaland is home to several factories, mainly producing equipment for agriculture. The largest is Kverneland Group, the world's largest manufacturer of ploughing and agricultural equipment. The Museum of the municipality of Time (Time Bygdemuseum) is also located in Kvernaland. Their football club is called Frøyland IL. The Øksnevadporten Station, located on the Jæren railway line, is located in Orstad. Kvernaland is a parish in the Church of Norway. It is unique in Norway in that the parish crosses municipal boundaries. The Frøyland og Orstad Church is located in Orstad, but it serves the whole village.

Figgjo is a borough of the city of Sandnes in the west part of the large municipality of Sandnes in Rogaland county, Norway. The borough is located in the southern part of the city. It has a population (2016) of 2,213. The borough is mostly rural, but the village of Figgjo lies in the southern edge of the municipality. About 90% of the population of the borough lives in the village of Figgjo.Although it is part of the city of Sandnes, Statistics Norway considers Figgjo to be a separate urban area (this urban area is not the same as the borough, just one part of it). In recent years, however, Figgjo has grown together with the large village of Ålgård, located immediately to the south in the neighboring municipality of Gjesdal. In 2016, Statistics Norway recorded the Ålgård-Figgjo urban area as having a combined population of 10,956. Figgjo's urban area alone has a population of 2,018.Figgjo is known for the Figgjo factories. Previously the village had a train station on the now closed Ålgård Line.

Old Ålgård Church (Norwegian: Ålgård gamle kirke) is a historic parish church of the Church of Norway in Gjesdal Municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. It is located in the village of Ålgård. It used to be the main church for the Ålgård parish which is part of the Jæren prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Stavanger. The white, wooden church was built in a long church design and an art nouveau style in 1917 using designs by the architect Ole Stein. The church seats about 250 people.

The Ålgård Line (Norwegian: Ålgårdbanen) is a closed, but not abandoned, railway line between Ganddal and Ålgård in Rogaland, Norway. The 12.24-kilometer (7.61 mi) line was built as a narrow gauge branch line of the Jæren Line by the Norwegian State Railways (NSB) and opened in 1924. It runs through the villages of Foss-Eikeland and Figgjo in Sandnes to Ålgård in Gjesdal. Several proposals were made for the Ålgård Line to become the first part of the main line from Stavanger to Oslo, but instead the Sørlandet Line was connected to the Jæren Line in 1944. At the same time, the Ålgård Line was upgraded to standard gauge. The line had up to ten daily round trips with diesel multiple units, until passenger traffic was terminated in 1955. Freight traffic remained until 1988, when most of the line was abandoned in 1988, although 3 kilometers (2 mi) was used until 2001. The line is owned by the Norwegian National Rail Administration. The station at Figgjo has been converted to a museum, and the 3-kilometer (2 mi) section from there to Ålgård is used for recreational draisines. There have been proposals to reopen the line either as part of the Jæren Commuter Rail or the planned light rail for Greater Stavanger.

Ålgård Church (Norwegian: Ålgård kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Gjesdal Municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. It is located in the village of Ålgård. It is the main church for the Ålgård parish which is part of the Jæren prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Stavanger. The white, concrete church was built in a fan-shaped style in 2015 using designs by the architects René de Groot og Erik Thesen from the firm, Link Arkitektur. The church seats about 500 people.The church was built in 2015 to replace the Old Ålgård Church (located next door) which was then too small for the congregation. The church was consecrated on 15 March 2015 by the Bishop Erling Johan Pettersen. The 1,800 square metres (19,000 sq ft) church was built at a cost of 54.5 million kr.On the upper floor is the sanctuary, vestry, two larger meeting rooms, and a smaller room. There is room for 430 people in the sanctuary, but the large doors in the back can be opened up to the entry hall and adjoining rooms, giving the church a maximum capacity of 600. A 12.5-metre (41 ft) high altarpiece designed by Tor Lindrupsen stands at the front of the church. On the lower floor is the 180-square-metre (1,900 sq ft) kitchen, dining hall, church offices, seminar rooms, utility rooms, and closets.
