Libby-Hill Block

The Kresge Block is a historic commercial building at 241-249 Water Street in downtown Augusta, Maine. Built in 1932 to house a department store, it is a distinctive and rare local example of commercial Moderne architecture. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

Water Street is the location of the central business district of Augusta, Maine. Running parallel to the Kennebec River, Water Street was developed in the 19th century to serve an economy based on water transport and state services, and contains one of the city's highest concentrations of commercial architecture from that period. A portion of the street, running from Commercial Street in the north to the Old Post Office in the south, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2017.

The Colonial Theater is a historic movie theater at 139 Water Street in downtown Augusta, Maine. Built in 1913 and rebuilt after a fire in 1926, it is a fine example of Beaux Arts architecture, with features presaging the Art Deco movement. It is the last surviving movie theater building in downtown Augusta. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014, at which time had been standing vacant for many years.

The Calumet Bridge at Old Fort Western is a bridge in Augusta, Maine, over the Kennebec River. It carries Cony Street from Downtown Augusta on the west side of the river to the east side near Old Fort Western. From its construction in 1973 until 2009, the bridge was known as the Father Curran Bridge, named by the Maine Legislature for the Rev. John J. Curran, a Catholic priest at St. Augustine Church in Augusta from 1962 to 1972. Long after his death in 1976, allegations of sexual abuse arose, which motivated the legislature to vote to remove his name from the bridge in 2009. The legislation to do so, sponsored by Rep. Patsy Crockett and signed by Gov. John Baldacci, gave the bridge its current name. The word calumet refers to a "peace pipe".

The South Parish Congregational Church and Parish House is a historic church at 9 Church Street in Augusta, Maine. Built in 1865, the church is a major Gothic Revival work of Maine's leading mid-19th century architect, Francis H. Fassett, and its 1889 parish house, designed by James H. Cochrane, is a rare example in the state of Stick style architecture. The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. The congregation was established in 1773, when the area was part of Hallowell.
