Montgomery County Jail and Sheriff's Residence is a historic jail and sheriff's residence located at Crawfordsville, Indiana. It was built in 1882 in two sections, and is a 2+1⁄2-story, red brick and limestone building in a combination of Italianate, Gothic Revival, and Romanesque Revival style architecture. The jail is a rotary jail; it is the only example of this type in Indiana and one of two left in the United States. The building houses a local history and prison museum. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975, and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 2023. It is located in the Crawfordsville Commercial Historic District.

Otto Schlemmer Building is a historic commercial building located at Crawfordsville, Indiana. It was originally built in 1854, and renovated to its present form in 1889. It is a two-story brick building with wood and pressed metal trim. The front facade features an arcade of six two-story, round-headed brick arches that form a gallery at the second level. The use of the Roman arch, denticulated frieze, bracketing, and a projecting central pediment are reflective of the Victorian Renaissance style. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985. It is located in the Crawfordsville Commercial Historic District. Current Use and Ownership The Otto Schlemmer Building is now owned by Capper Tulley and Reimondo Attorneys at law and has been since the late 1970s. The Building is used as a law office and occupied by highly educated and respected lawyers in Crawfordsville. The current partners of Capper Tulley and Reimondo are John S. Capper and Robert N. McClelland-Layne House is a historic home located at Crawfordsville, Indiana. It was built in 1869, and is a two-story, L-shaped, Italian Villa style brick dwelling. It has a low-hipped roof and segmental- and round-arched windows. The house features a three-story tower topped by a low-hipped roof. It was built for well known Crawfordsville surgeon Dr. James S. McClelland. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

The Carnegie Museum of Montgomery County (CMMC) is located in Crawfordsville, Indiana, United States. The museum, opened in June 2007, is located in the first Carnegie Library building in Indiana, which opened in 1902. The museum's exhibits focus on the history, art, and culture of Montgomery County. Themes include business and industry, literature and learning, arts and culture, military and democracy, sports and pop culture, topics about Montgomery County, early history, and STEM/STEAM-based programs. The mission of the CMMC is to promote public awareness and appreciation of the history, heritage, and culture of Montgomery County through educational programs, public services, collection, exhibition, preservation, and research and documentation.

Saint John's Episcopal Church is a historic Episcopal church located at Crawfordsville, Indiana. It was built in 1837 by an Episcopal congregation, organized through missionary bishop Jackson Kemper, and is a one-story, gable fronted frame building in the Greek Revival style. The original section measures 30 feet by 50 feet; a 30-foot rear addition was built in 1960. Atop the roof is a belfry added about 1950. It is the oldest remaining church building in Crawfordsville and Indiana's first Episcopal Church building. The church reported 135 members in 2015 and 109 members in 2023; no membership statistics were reported in 2024 parochial reports. Plate and pledge income reported for the congregation in 2024 was $196,234. Average Sunday attendance (ASA) in 2024 was 54 persons. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985. Theologian Hans Frei, a longtime Yale Divinity School faculty member and a significant figure in Post-liberal theology, briefly served as rector in the early 1950s.

Wabash College is a private, men's liberal arts college in Crawfordsville, Indiana, United States. Founded in 1832 by a group of Dartmouth College graduates and Midwestern leaders, the institution was originally named "The Wabash Teachers Seminary and Manual Labor College". It was later renamed Wabash College in 1851. The college was founded with the intention of providing classical and English education to young men in the region, aiming to develop future educators and clergy. As of 2024, Wabash College enrolled approximately 835 undergraduate students. The academic program is structured into three divisions: natural sciences, humanities and arts, and social sciences. Students can choose from 36 majors and minors, with popular fields of study including rhetoric, economics, history, and biology. A distinctive feature of the Wabash curriculum is the comprehensive examination process for seniors, which includes both written and oral components to assess students' mastery in their major disciplines. Wabash College is one of only three non-religious, all-male, four-year colleges remaining in the United States, alongside Hampden–Sydney College and Morehouse College. The college maintains a strong tradition of single-sex education, emphasizing close-knit community and leadership development.

Culver Union Hospital is a historic hospital building located at Crawfordsville, Indiana. It was built in 1902 and was named after L.L. Culver, whose wife, Mrs. Mary Culver, donated $10,000 towards the construction in honor of her late husband. The building is a four-story, rectangular, Colonial Revival style brick structure. It is 13 bays wide and has a central projecting entry bay and gable roof. It features a two-story, open and circular entry porch supported by Ionic order columns. Additions were made to the original building in 1940–1942, 1966, 1971, and 1977. The building was closed in 1984 due to being unsafe inside the building. In 2016 the building was converted to an apartment complex by Flaherty and Collins Properties. The property is now known as Historic Whitlock Place. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.

Crawfordsville () is a city in Montgomery County in west central Indiana, United States, 49 miles (79 km) west by northwest of Indianapolis. As of the 2020 census, the city had a population of 16,306. The city is the county seat of Montgomery County, the only chartered city and the largest populated place in the county. It is the principal city of the Crawfordsville, IN Micropolitan Statistical Area, which encompasses all of Montgomery County. The city is also part of the Indianapolis–Carmel–Muncie, IN Combined Statistical Area. The city was founded in 1823 on the bank of Sugar Creek, a southern tributary of the Wabash River and named for U.S. Treasury Secretary William H. Crawford. The city is home to Wabash College, a private liberal arts men's college, and the General Lew Wallace Study & Museum, a National Historic Landmark.

The Lane Place was the home of Sen. Henry S. Lane (1811–1881) and Joanna Lane (1826–1914). It is located at 212 South Water Street in Crawfordsville, Indiana. Helen Elston Smith, the Lanes' niece, inherited the house after Joanna's death. She willed the house and its contents to the Montgomery County Historical Society on February 26, 1931. 85%-90% of all of the furnishings are either original to the house or belonged to the Elston Family. The house has been a museum since 1931 even though Helen continued to live in the home until the mid-1930s. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1981. It is located in the Elston Grove Historic District.

Sugar Creek is a waterway located in the U.S. state of Indiana. It originates in a farm field approximately two miles south of Kempton, Indiana, and travels west-southwest for about 93 miles (150 km) before merging with the Wabash River 5 miles (8.0 km) north of Montezuma. The largest community on the waterway is Crawfordsville. Sugar Creek flows through two Indiana state parks, Shades and Turkey Run, and is a popular tourist and canoeist attraction. The creek and its many small tributaries are noted for the picturesque canyons and small waterfalls they have created in the rocky terrain. The fictional The Sugar Creek Gang series of books is based along this creek. The Darlington Covered Bridge spans Sugar Creek in Franklin Township, Montgomery County, Indiana. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990. Sugar Creek is well known to locals as a Smallmouth Bass fishing wonderland. Smallmouth thrive in Sugar Creek because there are many baitfish for them to eat and little competition. Fish species include, Carp, Suckers, Smallmouth Bass and a small population of Largemouth Bass, Gar, Bluegill, Crappie, Rock Bass, Sunfish, Catfish, and Gar.

Old Crawfordsville High School is a former public high school erected in 1910 on East Jefferson Street in Crawfordsville, Indiana. It was a part of the Crawfordsville Community Schools. The old building was expanded in 1914, 1921, and 1941 to provide additional classrooms, an auditorium, and a gymnasium. A new Crawfordsville High School facility opened at One Athenian Drive in 1993. In 2000 the old school building was converted to a multi-use facility of offices, residential housing, and a fitness center. The former high school building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2003. The former high school became a senior living facility and in 2019 was converted into 99 apartment units called The Laurel Flats.
