Great Parndon is an area and former civil parish in Essex, England, that has been absorbed by the new town of Harlow and is now an electoral ward. It had a recorded population of 18 people in 1086, rising to 41 by 1524–25. In 1622, there were 71 houses between the two parishes of Great and Little Parndon, with most names attributed to Great Parndon, given that Little Parndon was small and sparsely populated. The population of Great Parndon rose slowly from 300 in 1801 to 534 in 1891, reaching 576 in 1921, falling to 504 in 1931, then rising to 684 in 1951, by which time the building of Harlow town had begun. It formed an ancient parish in the Harlow hundred of Essex. It was part of the Epping Poor Law Union and was within the Epping rural sanitary district. In 1894 it became part of Epping Rural District. In 1934 it gained a small part of the parish of Eastwick, Hertfordshire.The civil parish of Great Parndon was abolished on 1 April 1955. It was mostly incorporated in the new parish and urban district of Harlow, while small areas in the south-east and south-west were transferred to Roydon, Epping Upland, and North-Weald Bassett.

Harlow Jewish Community, a member of the Movement for Reform Judaism, is a Reform Jewish congregation whose synagogue is at Harberts Road, Harlow, in Essex, England. The congregation dates from 1952. Irit Shillor has been its Rabbi since 2005.

Harlow Town Football Club is an English football club based in Harlow, Essex. The club is a member of the Eastern Counties League Division One South and plays at The Harlow Arena. The club is best known for the 1979–80 FA Cup, in which it reached the fourth round, eliminating two Football League sides Southend United and Leicester City before losing to Watford at Vicarage Road.

The Square was a 250 capacity independent live music venue in Harlow, Essex, England. It was managed by SquareOne Entertainment LLP who took over the venue in July 2008. After a five-month closure period from the end of 2015, The Square re-opened on Friday, 10 June 2016 before closing permanently in early 2017. Prior to 2008 it was run by Essex County Council until funding was withdrawn and the venue was closed after over 35 years of service as a community resource. The Square was one of the starting places for acts including Enter Shikari, George Ezra, and The Subways. Harlow bands Collapsed Lung and Morning Parade formed at the venue. Cornershop name the venue as the gig that got them signed, as well as being the first venue to pay them to play. BBC DJ Steve Lamacq broadcast a live Coldplay show from the venue in 2000. The Square comedy club played host to Jack Dee, Eddie Izzard, Jo Brand, Phill Jupitus, Terry Alderton and was regularly hosted by John Mann. In 2012, a live recording by the band Seymour (later Blur) from 1989 was included in the Blur 21 box set. In May 2015, building owners Circle Housing announced plans for redevelopment of the site. In July 2015, a series of gigs under the banner 'Back To Square One' was announced, with big-name acts coming back to play the venue one last time. The series includes Newtown Neurotics, The Members, Steve Harris British Lion, Buzzcocks, DragonForce, InMe, King Prawn, Attila The Stockbroker, The Beat, Nine Below Zero, Collapsed Lung, Gaz Coombes, Chas & Dave, and Secret Affair. In October 2015, The Square was shortlisted for NME magazine's 'Britain's Best Small Venue' competition. The Square finally closed on the morning of 31 January 2017, with one of the final bands playing the venue being Bristol's long standing band The Blue Aeroplanes on their 2017 UK tour. It was later demolished.

Harlow Stadium is a greyhound racing track located in Harlow, Essex, England. The stadium also has executive suites, a restaurant, a number of bars and conference and banqueting facilities. Racing takes place in the evening on Monday and Wednesday, and in the morning on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Jacks Hatch (also spelt Jack's Hatch), is a hamlet in the Epping Upland civil parish of the Epping Forest district of Essex, England. Jacks Hatch is 1.75 miles (3 km) north-west from the parish village of Epping Upland, 2 miles (3 km) south-southwest from the town centre of Harlow and 17 miles (27 km) west from the city and county town of Chelmsford. It is on the B181 Epping road between Epping Green village at the south, and Broadley Common in Roydon at the north-west, and centred on the junction with Parsloe Road running north-east to the almost conjoined Kingsmoor area of southern Harlow. Junction 7 of the M11 motorway is 4.5 miles (7 km) to the east.The Hamlet may have been referenced as Cerlen hacce in the confirmatory charter of Edward the Confessor to the church of Waltham Holy Cross in 1062.While the Hamlet lies within the civil parish of Epping Upland, it lies within the ecclesiastical parishes of Nazeing and Great Parndon - the boundary between them lying along the Epping Green Road (B181). The hamlet and its immediate surrounding area includes three farms. There are two small retail and light industrial areas on Parslow Road which include a car sales and a furniture sales outlet, and a hair salon. Detached and semidetached houses line Parsloe Road, and the Epping Road chiefly at its west side. At the junction is a fuel station which includes an automotive repair centre.The 1933 Kelly's Directory of Essex listed a motor engineers company at Jacks Hatch.On Parsloe Road at Jacks Hatch is the Grade II listed Richmonds Farmhouse, a rendered timber-framed T-plan house with a 17th-century gable, dating at least from the early 16th century.In the 2010s Epping Upland Parish Council began working towards a Neighbourhood Plan for the protection of parish character which, if approved, would become part of planning policy under an Epping Forest District Council Local Plan. The area of Jacks Hatch was to be removed from the protection of this Local Plan, allowing further southward expansion of the Harlow conurbation. A possible greater expansion of Harlow attached development south to the edge of Epping Upland village, and in green belt, was being considered through the Epping Forest District Council Local Plan, but opposed by the Parish Council for its Neighbourhood Plan.Jacks Hatch lies in the UK parliamentary constituency of Epping Forest. The sitting MP since 1997 has been Eleanor Laing.

Harlow Woods is a 47.1-hectare (116-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Harlow in Essex. It is composed of three woods, Hospital Wood Risden's Wood and Parndon Wood. They are owned and maintained by Harlow District Council, and they are part of the slightly larger Parndon Woods and Common Local Nature Reserve.The woods are mainly pedunculate oak and hornbeam, and other trees include ash, hazel and birch. There are also some elms which are regenerating from coppice following Dutch elm disease. There is grassland in ridings and clearings, and ponds and streams provide additional habitats for invertebrates. There are birds such as jays, nuthatches and great spotted woodpeckers.There is access from Parndon Wood Road.
