The siege of Hulst was a siege of the city of Hulst that took place between 20 and 24 September 1591 by a Dutch and English army under the leadership of Maurice of Orange during the Eighty Years' War and the Anglo–Spanish War. The siege was part of Maurice's famous campaign of 1591.

The siege of Hulst of 1596 took place between mid-July and August 18, 1596, at the city of Hulst, Province of Zeeland, Low Countries (present-day the Netherlands), during the Eighty Years' War, the Anglo-Spanish War (1585–1604). The siege was won by the Spanish forces of the Archduke of Austria. After a short siege, during which Maurice of Orange launched a failed attempt to relieve the city, the garrison of Dutch and English troops fell into Spanish hands on August 18, 1596.

Kuitaart is a village in the Dutch province of Zeeland. It is a part of the municipality of Hulst, and lies about 24 km southwest of Bergen op Zoom. The village was first mentioned in 1469 as up Coytaerde. The etymology is unknown.The grist mill Vogelzicht was built in 1865. In 1904, an engine was installed in the mill. The wind mill was restored in 2004.Kuitaart was home to 197 people in 1840. The village used to be part of the municipality of Hontenisse. In 2002, it became part of the municipality of Hulst.

Lamswaarde is a village in the Dutch province of Zeeland. It is a part of the municipality of Hulst, and lies about 23 km southwest of Bergen op Zoom. The village was first mentioned around 1260 as Lamswerd, and means "land on water belonging to Lam(bert)". Lamswaarde is a road village which developed in the 13th century near the outpost of the Cistercian monastery Baudeloo. The outpost was destroyed in the late 16th century during the Eighty Years' War. The village was flooded in 1578. 1615, a new dike was constructed around the Oostvogel and the land was poldered.The Catholic St Cornelius was built between 1871 and 1873 to replace the barn church of 1686. It is a three-aisled basilica-like church. The Theresiagesticht was an orphanage constructed between 1925 and 1926. A matching girls school has built next to the orphanage.Lamswaarde was home to 405 people in 1840. The village used to be part of the municipality of Hontenisse. In 2002, it became part of the municipality of Hulst.

Hontenisse (population in 2002: 8,014) is a former municipality in the southwestern Netherlands, in the municipality of Hulst in the province of Zeeland. The municipality covered an area of 115.78 km² (of which 3.53 km² water). On January 1, 2003 Hontenisse was merged into Hulst.

St Willibrordus is a basilica located in the center of the fortress city of Hulst in the east of Zeelandic Flanders, the Netherlands. The church is dedicated to the missionary St. Willibrord, often called the apostle of the Benelux countries (Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg). Although the nave dates from the 13th to 15th centuries, the central tower was destroyed several times, most recently in the Second World War. The current tower's modern appearance dates from the 1950s. The church contains the painting The Good Samaritan by Jan Baptist Maes (1794–1856) from Ghent. The scenes of the Way of the Cross were painted by Jan Jozef Deloose (1769–1849) from Sint-Niklaas. The frames are by the Ghent sculptor P. Pauwels.

The village was first mentioned in 1161 as Hencsdic, and means "dike of Henge (person)". Hengstdijk is a dike village which was founded on the bank of the De Vogel Creek in 1161.The Catholic St Catharina is a single aisled church with a needle spire which was constructed between 1892 and 1893. It was restored in 1977.Hengstdijk was home to 670 people in 1840. It was a separate municipality until 1936 when it became part of the municipality of Vogelwaarde. In 2003, the village became part of the municipality of Hulst.

Absdale is a hamlet in the Dutch province of Zeeland. It is a part of the municipality of Hulst, and lies about 32 km southwest of Bergen op Zoom. Absdale is not a statistical entity, and the postal authorities have placed it under Hulst. Absdale has place name signs. It used to be home to 550 people in 1840. Nowadays, it consists of about 40 houses.The hamlet was first mentioned in 1315 as te Absdale, and means valley of the abbot which refers to the Ter Duinen Abbey. Absdale is mentioned in the poem Van den vos Reynaerde.
