Kieldrecht is a village and deelgemeente (sub-municipality) of Beveren in East Flanders, Belgium. Kieldrecht was an independent municipality until 1977, when it merged with Beveren as part of the fusion of municipalities in Belgium. The village is located on the border with the Netherlands, and forms a single urban area with the Dutch village of Nieuw-Namen.

The Waasland (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈʋaːslɑnt]) or Land van Waas (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈlɑnt vɑn ˈʋaːs]) is a historic region in northern Belgium. It is part of the Belgian provinces of East Flanders and Antwerp. The other borders are with the Scheldt and Durme rivers (east and south) and, to the north, the border with the Dutch region of Zeelandic Flanders. The (informal) capital and major city of the region is Sint-Niklaas. Waas most likely refers to the soggy soil of the region although the exact etymology is unknown. One possibility is a connection to the English word "wasteland". The swamps that characterized it have long been drained although many fields are still noticeably convex; the result of many years of plowing the topsoil towards the center to improve drainage. Historically, on account of its waterlogged, poor soils the region was thinly populated in comparison to the rest of Belgium and agriculture was by necessity based on holder farms using innovative techniques not usually applied elsewhere even if the farmers had ready markets nearby in the cities of Ghent and Antwerp. Charles Townshend (1674–1748), one of the proponents of the early agricultural revolution, was an explicit advocate of agricultural practices first developed here in Belgium, such as the use of turnips in crop rotation, and the region for some time attracted study trips by early agriculturists in his wake. The epic tale of Reynard the Fox is set in the region. The surname "Waas" and variants thereof is quite common in Belgium and refers to this region.

Saeftinghe or Saaftinge was a town in the southwest Netherlands, located in eastern Zeelandic Flanders, near Nieuw-Namen. It existed until 1584. It is now a swamp known as the Drowned Land of Saeftinghe (Dutch: Verdronken Land van Saeftinghe) and an official nature reserve area. The land is a crosspoint where the river Scheldt meets the salty waters of the North Sea in the estuary Western Scheldt. It is a treacherous place where the tides easily consume large stretches of land in a matter of seconds and must not be explored without an experienced guide.

Zandberg is a hamlet in the Dutch province of Zeeland. It is a part of the municipality of Hulst, and lies about 24 km southwest of Bergen op Zoom. Zandberg is not a statistical entity, and the postal authorities have placed it under Graauw. The hamlet has place name signs. It used to be home to 305 people in 1840. Nowadays, it consists of about 50 houses.

Graauw is a village in the Dutch province of Zeeland. It is a part of the municipality of Hulst, and lies about 22 km southwest of Bergen op Zoom.

Clinge is a village in the Dutch province of Zeeland. It is a part of the municipality of Hulst, and lies about 28 km southwest of Bergen op Zoom. Clinge is located on the Dutch-Belgian border and joins with the Belgian town of De Klinge, in the Belgian municipality of Sint-Gillis-Waas. This border can normally be crossed freely.

Vrasene is a village in the municipality of Beveren in the Belgian province of East Flanders. It is located about 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) west of Antwerp.

De Klinge is a Belgian town and part of the municipality of Sint-Gillis-Waas in the province of East Flanders (Oost-Vlaanderen), is located on the border with the Netherlands province of Zeeland and within the non-administrative region known as the Waasland or the Land van Waas. On the Dutch side of the border the town is called Clinge and is part of the municipality of Hulst. Sint-Niklaas is 10 kilometres south of De Klinge. The nearest large Belgian city is Antwerp (Antwerpen) to the east. The town is bordered by many forests, including the Stropersbos (the Stroper Forest), which are excellent for cycling and walking. The dialect of Dutch spoken in De Klinge is called Klings, an East Flemish dialect. In the past there were several makers of clogs (wooden shoes) or klompen as they are called in Dutch. A statue called De Klomp stands in the middle of the round-about on the road from Sint-Gillis-Waas where the Bergstraat, Hogenakkerstraat, and Klingedijkstraat meet. Every July a kermis festival, called the Klingse Kalsei Braderij is held on the main cobblestone street, Klingedorp. The town also has an abbey beer called Klingse Kalsei which is available during this festival and features the Klingedorpstraat on its label. This beer is not actually brewed in De Klinge but in Ertvelde by Van Steenberghe Brewery.

Paal is a hamlet in the southwest Netherlands. It is a part of the municipality of Hulst, Zeeland, and is located 35 km north of Antwerp, Belgium. The village was first mentioned in 1847 as Paal (De), and refers to a beacon. From at least 1676 until 1874 there was a ferry to Bergen op Zoom at the location.Paal used to be a fishing village which specialised in mussels. It was home to 412 people in 1840. In 1979, the dike was enlarged and the old harbour disappeared. In 1980, a marina was built instead.Paal used to be part of the municipality of Graauw en Langendam. In 2003, it was merged into Hulst.

The Kieldrecht Lock (Dutch: Kieldrechtsluis), referred to as the Deurgank Dock Lock (Dutch: Deurgankdoksluis) during construction, is the largest lock in the world when only considering water volume. The Kieldrecht Lock is the newer of two locks that give access to the left-bank docks of the Port of Antwerp in Belgium, between the Scheldt river and the Waasland Canal. The creation of the Kieldrecht lock has relieved the amount of traffic for the Waasland Canal that the Kallo Lock was experiencing. The lock, situated in the municipality of Beveren, was opened on 10 June 2016 in the presence of King Philippe of Belgium.

Sint-Gillis-Waas (Dutch pronunciation: [sɪnt ˌxɪlɪs ˈʋaːs]; French: Saint-Gilles-Waes) is a municipality located in the Belgian province of East Flanders. The municipality comprises the towns of De Klinge, Meerdonk, Sint-Gillis-Waas proper and Sint-Pauwels. On 1 January 2018, Sint-Gillis-Waas had a total population of 19,273. The total area is 54.98 km² which gives a population density of 357 inhabitants per km².
