Duppigheim (French pronunciation: [dypiɡaim] ; German: Düppigheim; Alsatian: Dìppje) is a commune in the Bas-Rhin department in Grand Est in north-eastern France. Duppigheim station has rail connections to Strasbourg and Molsheim.

Gare de Duppigheim is a French railway station located on the Strasbourg–Saint-Dié railway. It is located within the commune of Duppigheim, close to the village of Kolbsheim, in departement Bas-Rhin, in northeastern France. It serves the economic zone of the Bruche plains. The station was put in operation in 1864 by the Compagnie des chemins de fer de l'Est (Eastern Railways Company). It is a travellers stop station of the Société nationale des chemins de fer français (SNCF). Belonging to the TER Grand Est network, the station is only served by regional express trains.

The Château de Kolbsheim is located near the town of Kolbsheim, in the French Department of Bas-Rhin, in Alsace. It is 15 kilometers southwest of Strasbourg, overlooking the plain of Alsace. The chateau has two wings, the oldest built in 1703. The upper part of the garden is geometric French garden, decorated with ponds, fountains, hedges and sculpted trees. The lower part is an English park, with many hundred-year-old trees. Much of the garden was destroyed in the First World War, but was restored by the Grunelius family, the present owners. The Garden is classified by the French Ministry of Culture as among The Notable Gardens of France.

Duttlenheim (French pronunciation: [dytlənaim] ; German: Düttelnheim; Alsatian: Dìttle) is a commune in the Bas-Rhin department in Grand Est in north-eastern France. It is located about 20 kilometres (12 mi) southwest of Strasbourg, and approximately 20 km from the German border. Arsène Wenger, former long-time manager of Arsenal F.C., grew up here. His parents ran the bistro La croix d'or, where he would spend hours studying the behaviour of the football-loving customers.

The Battle of Altenheim took place on 1 August 1675 during the 1672-1678 Franco-Dutch War near Altenheim, in modern Baden-Württemberg. It was fought by a French army of 20,000, jointly commanded by the Marquis de Vaubrun and the Comte de Lorges, and an Imperial Army of 30,000 under Raimondo Montecuccoli. After two months of manoeuvring, the previous French commander, Marshall Turenne, had managed to create an opportunity to attack the Imperial army. While reviewing his position on 27 July, he was killed by a cannon shot; he had not appointed a successor, and the French army was paralysed as de Lorges and Vaubrun argued over command. On 31 July, the French withdrew over the Rhine, using the bridge at Altenheim, but only part of the army managed to cross, leaving the majority on the German side. As they resumed crossing on 1 August, the Imperial army attacked, and at one point cut off their retreat by capturing Altenheim. A series of charges by the French cavalry recaptured the bridge, in one of which Vaubrun was killed; the battle ended late in the day, both sides suffering heavy casualties. Although the French saved their army, they lost the initiative established by Turenne.

The Battle of Entzheim, also called Enzheim, or Ensheim, took place on 4 October 1674, during the 1672 to 1678 Franco-Dutch War. It was fought near the town of Entzheim, south of Strasbourg in Alsace, between a French army under Turenne, and an Imperial force commanded by Alexander von Bournonville. In this campaign, Turenne compensated for being outnumbered by his aggression and vastly superior logistics, which allowed him to move fast and keep his opponents off balance. Despite a strong defensive position and vastly superior numbers, Bournonville decided to retreat after a series of French assaults. Although his losses were significantly higher as a percentage of his army, Turenne prevented Bournonville invading Eastern France and the battle is generally regarded as inconclusive. However, the French established a psychological advantage, setting the scene for Turenne's Winter Campaign, often viewed as his greatest military achievement.
