Paradise Island (Florida)

Makinson Island is one of three islands in Lake Tohopekaliga, Osceola County, Florida. It was purchased by the State of Florida on December 31, 1998, in cooperation with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), The Trust for Public Land and Osceola County. Ownership was transferred to FWC on October 6, 1999. The park is managed by Osceola County as a natural refuge with trails, primitive camping sites, and a pavilion. The island was planned to developed into time-shares before it was purchased by the state. The island came with a derelict 34-passenger boat that was restored by Walt Disney World Resort and Mercury Marine and named "Spirit of Osceola".

The First United Methodist Church is a historic site in Kissimmee, Florida. It is located at 101 W Dakin Ave. On January 3, 1994, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.

The Monument of States was conceived as a symbol of American unity after the attack on Pearl Harbor, and is located at 300 E. Monument Avenue in Kissimmee, Florida. It was built by volunteers, with donations of stone that came from around the world, including a rock from President Franklin D. Roosevelt. It was the brainchild of Charles W. Bressler-Pettis, who also hoped it would become a unique tourist attraction for the city.

Kissimmee station is a train station in Kissimmee, Florida. It is served by Amtrak, the national railroad passenger system of the United States, and SunRail, the commuter rail system serving Greater Orlando. The station opened in 1883, and has served several different railroads. It is the closest Amtrak station to Walt Disney World.

The Old Holy Redeemer Catholic Church is a historic site in Kissimmee, Florida. It is located at 120 North Sproule Avenue. On January 3, 1994, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. This church had its early services in the home of Mrs. A. Tress, above the Tress Store on Broadway. It was once a mission of Orlando's St. James Catholic Church. On May 5, 1912, they laid the cornerstone of a little brick church at 122 W. Sproule Ave., and celebrated their first mass there on June 30, 1912. It cost $7,000, and initially had no pews and no electricity. In 1972, they sold the building for $85,000 to the First United Methodist Church. The present building on this site was completed in 1973.

Osceola High School (OHS) is a public high school located in Kissimmee, Florida, USA. The school was established on September 5, 1887 along with 20 other schools in Osceola County. It was referred to as "the Kissimmee school" until it received the name "Osceola High School" in 1889.OHS enrolls students in grades 9-12 and is part of the School District of Osceola County. The school enrolled 2,336 Kisssimmee students as of the 2012-2013 school year. It is a minority-majority school in that students who identify as Hispanic outnumber students who identify as other ethnicities.

It is a Principal City of the Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford, Florida, Metropolitan Statistical Area, which had a 2020 population of 2,673,376. The Census Bureau defines an urban area with Kissimmee as the principal city, which is separated from the Orlando urban area. The Kissimmee–St. Cloud, FL urban area had a 2020 population of 418,404, making it the 100th largest in the United States.

Kissimmee Army Airfield, was a United States Army Air Forces airfield during World War II, located 1.8 miles (2.9 km) west of Kissimmee, Florida.
