Miranda is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of New South Wales. It is represented by Eleni Petinos of the Liberal Party. Miranda is located in the north of Sutherland Shire on the south shore of Georges River. It includes the suburbs of Alfords Point, Bonnet Bay, Como, Gymea, Illawong, Jannali, Kangaroo Point, Kareela, Kirrawee, Miranda, Oyster Bay, Sylvania, Sylvania Waters, Taren Point and parts of Caringbah and Sutherland.

Gymea Technology High School (abbreviated as GTHS) is a technology-oriented, public and co-educational high school, located on the Princes Highway in the suburb of Gymea, in the Sutherland Shire, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, next to Gymea TAFE. Gymea Technology High School achieves average marks in the NSW Higher School Certificate (HSC). It has been recognised as a school in technology by the New South Wales Department of Education and Apple Inc. Gymea Technology High School also performs adequately in many other academic activities, such as public speaking, debating, sport and UNSW school competitions. Gymea THS was opened in 1963 and has been a technology-oriented secondary school since it first opened.

Hazelhurst Arts Centre, also known as Hazelhurst Regional Gallery & Arts Centre, Hazelhurst Gallery and Hazelhurst, is an arts complex located on Kingsway in the suburb of Gymea, in southern Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It is the first public arts centre of its kind in Australia and sits on 1.4 hectares (3.5 acres) of gardens. The complex includes two art galleries, a theatrette, art studios, meeting rooms, gift shop and café as well as the gardens. The facility is also available for hire as a function centre. Hazelhurst opened on 22 January 2000. Architects for the building were Michael Bennet (of Jackson, Teece, Chesterman, Willis) in partnership with Esther and Trevor Hayter. The garden designs were by Oi Choong.

Kirrawee is a suburb in southern Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Kirrawee is located 25 kilometres south of the Sydney central business district in the Sutherland Shire. Kirrawee lies between Sutherland, to the west, and Gymea and Grays Point, to the east. Kirrawee's southern border is formed by The Royal National Park, while Kareela and Jannali form the northern border. Kirrawee is split between commercial and residential areas. Approximately 50% of the area to the north of the train line is occupied by commercial and industrial properties, while almost all of the area south of the train line is residential. South Kirrawee, which extends from the train line in the north to the Royal National Park in the south, has many houses on quiet roads with beautiful bush outlooks. North Kirrawee is predominantly a commercial/industrial zone containing small to medium-sized factories housing local businesses. It is also home to a number of petrol stations, car dealerships and a fast food chain outlet. However, the most northerly and western sections of this part of Kirrawee are residential, with some parts also with bush outlooks.
