Moutfort (French) (Luxembourgish: Mutfert, German: Mutfort) is a village in the commune of Contern, in south-western Luxembourg, on both sides of the road from the city of Luxembourg to the German border town Remich. As of 2015, the village of Moutfort had a population of 1,306 inhabitants, and the associated village of Medingen had 112 inhabitants.People from 47 nations from all around the world live in the commune of Contern. Out of these, only 64% are of Luxembourgish nationality. This very great mixture of nationalities is due to the proximity of the commune of Contern to the city of Luxembourg, which is reachable by car in 10 minutes.It is usual to speak four or five languages in daily life, even for many children. The original population speaks Luxembourgish, an old Southern German named "Mosel-Fränkisch", which has a common root with English, and sounds a bit like Celtic, but which got mixed with many French words assimilated to the Luxembourgish intonation, for example ‘Eng Girouette’ or ‘eng pain au chocolat’. Moutfort is situated in the valley of the Syr. The Syr joins the Moselle (in French), Mosel (in German), Musel (in Luxembourgish) in Wasserbillig and its waters will then flow into the Rhine at Koblenz, Germany. Moutfort and the commune of Contern, with the villages Contern, Moutfort, Medingen (Luxbg: Méidéng) and Oetrange (French), (German: Oetringen, Luxembourgish: Éiter) are rich in forests and agriculture.

Oetrange railway station (Luxembourgish: Gare Éiter, French: Gare de Oetrange, German: Bahnhof Oetringen) is a railway station serving Oetrange, in the commune of Contern, in southern Luxembourg. It is operated by Chemins de Fer Luxembourgeois, the state-owned railway company. The station is situated on Line 30, which connects Luxembourg City to the east of the country and Trier.

Contern (Luxembourgish: Conter [ˈkontɐ] ) is a commune and town in southern Luxembourg. It is located east of Luxembourg City.As of 2023, the town of Contern, which lies in the south-west of the commune, has a population of 1,836.The main towns are Contern, Moutfort, Oetrange and Medingen and Milbech. Additionally the commune contains the Lieu-dits of Bricherhaff, Brichermillen, Kréintgeshaff, Kackerterhaff, Marxeknupp and Pleitrange.The commune also contains the industrial zones of Chaux de Contern, and Rosswenkel, as well as the activity zone of Weiergewan. The town hall was formerly situated among these industrial zones prior to the redesign of the area. Intersections became roundabouts, roads were repaved, and the railway station, Sandweiler-Contern was completely rebuilt in a new location in December 2015 for easier access from the main road in the Industrial Zone. The new town hall was built next to the church on the hill around the centre of the town.

Kréintgeshaff (Luxembourgish: Kroentgeshof) is a small settlement near Sandweiler in the Commune of Contern in Luxembourg. It is located directly North-East of the Contern-Sandweiler Industrial zone and located adjacent to the E29 Main Road. The settlement is surrounded by small tracks and streams. The settlement gets no public buses however school Buses running from the Local Ecole Um Ewent Contern run directly to and from Kréintgeshaff every day.

Medingen (Luxembourgish: Méideng) is a village in the commune of Contern, in southern Luxembourg. As of 2007, the village has a population of 102 but has since increased to 125.

Schrassig (Luxembourgish: Schraasseg [ˈʃʀaːsəɕ]) is a town in the commune of Schuttrange, in the south-east of Luxembourg. As of 2023, the town has a population of 822. It houses the country's biggest prison.

Oetrange (Luxembourgish: Éiter, German: Oetringen) is a small town in the commune of Contern, in south-eastern Luxembourg. As of 2007, the town has a population of 781, but it increased to 843 in 2021 and again to 858 in 2022.The town is served by Oetrange railway station, which lies on Chemins de Fer Luxembourgeois' Line 30.

Syren (Luxembourgish: Siren) is a small town in the commune of Weiler-la-Tour, in southern Luxembourg. As of 2001, the town had a population of 416 people. Syren is the source of the Syre river, which flows down to the Moselle, through some of Luxembourg's wealthiest districts. In 2003, there was a fire which destroyed 4 homes. A similar fire happened in the summer of 2014, destroying one chalet.

Neuhäusgen or Neuhaeusgen (Luxembourgish: Neihaischen) is a village in the commune of Schuttrange, in southern Luxembourg. As of 2005, the village had a population of 235.

Sandweiler (Luxembourgish pronunciation: [ˈzɑntvɑɪlɐ] ) is a commune and town in southern Luxembourg. It is located 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) east of Luxembourg City. As of 2023, the town of Sandweiler, which lies in the south-west of the commune, has a population of 3,667. Other settlements within the commune include Findel and Birelerhaff. The commune is dominated by Luxembourg Airport, Luxembourg's only international airport and the fifth-busiest cargo airport in Europe, which lies to the north and west of the town of Sandweiler. It is also home to the Sandweiler German war cemetery. The commune is surrounded by forests.

Schuttrange (French pronunciation: [ʃytʁɑ̃ʒ]; Luxembourgish: Schëtter [ˈʃətɐ] ; German: Schüttringen) is a commune and small town in southern Luxembourg. It is located east of Luxembourg City. As of 2005, the town of Schuttrange, which lies in the centre of the commune, has a population of 825. Other towns within the commune include Munsbach, Neuhäusgen, Schrassig, and Übersyren.

Ersange (Luxembourgish: Ierseng, German: Ersingen) is a village in the commune of Waldbredimus, in south-eastern Luxembourg. As of 2005, the village has a population of 145.
