Madlamark Church

Madlamark is a neighborhood (delområde) in the city of Stavanger which lies in the southwestern part of the large municipality of Stavanger in Rogaland county, Norway. It is located in the borough of Madla at the innermost part of the Hafrsfjorden. This area was historically part of the municipality of Madla until 1965. The neighborhood has a population of 6,556 which is distributed over an area of 2.49 square kilometres (620 acres). Madlamark Church is located in the centre of the neighborhood.

The Battle of Hafrsfjord (Norwegian: Slaget i Hafrsfjord) was a great naval battle fought in Hafrsfjord sometime between 872 and 900 that resulted in the unification of Norway, later known as the Kingdom of Norway. After the battle, the victorious Viking chief Harald Fairhair proclaimed himself the first king of the Norwegians, merging several petty kingdoms under a single monarch for the first time.

Sverd i fjell (English: Swords in Rock) is a commemorative monument located in the Hafrsfjord neighborhood of Madla, a borough of the city of Stavanger which lies in the southwestern part of the large municipality of Stavanger in Rogaland county, Norway.

Madla is a former municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. The 15.75-square-kilometre (6.08 sq mi) municipality existed from 1930 until 1965 when it was merged into Stavanger Municipality. The small municipality now exists as the borough of Madla inside the city of Stavanger, on the northeast side of the Hafrsfjorden. It was one of the smallest municipalities in Rogaland county, with only four farms: Malde (now spelled Madla), Revheim, and North- and South-Sunde. The municipal centre was located at Malde, now known as Madlamark.

The UiS Business School (Norwegian: Handelshøyskolen ved UiS) is a business school situated in Stavanger, Norway, and a faculty under the University of Stavanger. The business school is one of the largest institutions in Norway educating students at the masters level in business administration.

DNB Arena is an indoor ice hockey rink in Stavanger, Norway, and home to the Fjordkraftligaen side Stavanger Oilers. Opened ahead of the 2012–13 season, the arena has a capacity for 4,500 spectators during ice hockey matches and 6,000 during concerts, including 36 executive boxes. The rink is unusual for Norway in that it has the National Hockey League rink size. The 16,500 square meters (178,000 sq ft) building is designed by Arkitektkontoret Jobb and is named for DNB, a Norwegian banking group. Plans for a new venue to replace the aging Stavanger Ishall were first articulated by club-owner Tore Christiansen in 2006. Construction started in May 2011, with Kruse Smith as the main contractor. Construction cost 210 million Norwegian krone (NOK). The venue is owned by the Oilers' investment company, which receives a combined 9 million per year from DNB and the municipality. The arena hosted group stages of 2012–13 IIHF Continental Cup and 2013 IIHF Women's World Championship Division I. It's currently hosting the 2023 World Women's Handball Championship.

The University of Stavanger (Norwegian: Universitetet i Stavanger, UiS) is a public research university located in Stavanger, Norway. It was established in 2005 when the Stavanger University College received university status. The university is organised in six faculties. In 2022 it had 12,506 students and 2,200 employees including academics, administrative and service staff. In 2024 it had a budget of just under two billion NOK, which corresponds to roughly $190 million.

Stavanger Ishall, also known as Siddishallen is an indoor ice hockey arena in Stavanger, Norway. It was built in 1968, as only the second arena ice hockey venue in Norway, and has a capacity of 3,090 people. The arena used to host the home games of ice hockey team Stavanger Oilers until 2012 when the team moved to newly built DNB Arena.

Tjensvoll is a neighborhood (delområde) in the city of Stavanger which lies in the southwestern part of the large municipality of Stavanger in Rogaland county, Norway. It is located in the borough of Hillevåg, southwest of the lake Mosvatnet. Until 1987, it was a borough of its own. The neighborhood has a population of 5,756 which is distributed over an area of 2.68 square kilometres (660 acres). Tjensvoll Church is located in this neighborhood.

Stavanger Peninsula (Norwegian: Stavangerhalvøya) is a peninsula in Rogaland County, Norway. The peninsula is named for the city of Stavanger, located on its northeastern shore and it includes the most populous parts of the Greater Stavanger urban area. The peninsula extends from a line between the Sandnes harbour at the southern end of the Gandsfjorden straight west to the village of Ølbør in Sola municipality. This line runs just south of Stavanger Airport. The peninsula is delimited by the Gandsfjorden, Boknafjorden, Byfjorden, and the North Sea. Stavanger Peninsula includes Randaberg municipality, as well as parts of Stavanger, Sandnes, and Sola municipalities.The name Stavanger Peninsula is occasionally used interchangeably with North Jæren (Norwegian: Nord-Jæren), but the former is a geographical region, while the latter is a political definition.

Stavanger Idrettshall is an indoor arena in Stavanger, Norway. It hosts the home games of the Stavanger handball team, and then has a capacity 4100 people. This arena hosted the main stage of the 2008 European Men's Handball Championship. It will host the 2025 World Men's Handball Championship with the country, Croatia and Denmark.

Tjensvoll Church (Norwegian: Tjensvoll kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Stavanger Municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. It is located in the Tjensvoll neighborhood in the borough of Hillevåg in the city of Stavanger. It is the church for the Tjensvoll parish which is part of the Stavanger domprosti (arch-deanery) in the Diocese of Stavanger. The red brick church was built in a fan-shaped design in 1978 using designs by the architects Per Faltinsen and Inger-Lise Faltinsen. The church seats about 300 people.
