San Diego Civic Theatre

The San Diego City Council is the legislative branch of government for the city of San Diego, California. The city council was first established in San Diego in 1850. The council uses a strong mayor system with a separately elected mayor who acts as the executive. There are currently nine members of the council. City council members serve a four-year term and are limited to two successive terms.

Civic Center is a station of the Blue, Orange, and Silver Lines on the San Diego Trolley. It is located in the Downtown Core of the city and is surrounded by a variety of important office buildings. This station was closed from May 14 through August 2012 due to renovations related to the Trolley Renewal Project.

It was one of San Diego's first skyscrapers; when it opened in 1927 it was the tallest building in San Diego. It is San Diego Historical Site # 135 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

The U.S. Grant Hotel is a historic and one of the oldest hotels in downtown San Diego, California operating under a franchise of Marriott International as part of their Luxury Collection brand. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is 11 stories high and has 270 guest rooms in addition to meeting rooms and multiple ballrooms.

225 Broadway is the 41st tallest building in San Diego, California and is a prominent fixture in San Diego's skyline. The 23-story skyscraper has a height of 306 ft (93 m) and is located in the Horton Plaza district of Downtown San Diego and was home to the area NBC owned-and-operated station KNSD from 2001 until 2016, during which time it was known as the NBC Building and bore NBC signage. The skyscraper is built to the International Style.

Wells Fargo Plaza is the 26th tallest building in San Diego, California and is a prominent fixture in San Diego's skyline. The 23-story skyscraper has a height of 339 ft (103 m) and is located in the Core district of Downtown San Diego. The skyscraper utilizes a modern architectural style and was designed by the architect firm Carrier Johnson Architects.

Fountain of Two Oceans is an outdoor 1984 fountain and sculpture by Sergio Benvenuti, installed in San Diego, in the U.S. state of California. It features a nude man and woman facing one another.

The Sofia Hotel, formerly the Pickwick Terminal Hotel, is a historic hotel in San Diego, in the U.S. state of California. Construction began in 1926. It opened in May 1927. The hotel was also inducted into Historic Hotels of America, the official program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, in 2008.

San Diego ( SAN dee-AY-goh, Spanish: [san ˈdjeɣo]; Spanish for 'Saint Didacus') is a city in the U.S. state of California on the coast of the Pacific Ocean and immediately adjacent to the Mexican border. With a 2020 population of 1,386,932, San Diego is the eighth most populous city in the United States and second most populous in California (after Los Angeles). The city is the county seat of San Diego County, the fifth most populous county in the United States, with 3,338,330 estimated residents as of 2019. The city is known for its mild year-round climate, natural deep-water harbor, extensive beaches and parks, long association with the United States Navy and Marine Corps, and recent emergence as a healthcare and biotechnology development center. Historically home to the Kumeyaay people, San Diego is frequently referred to as the "Birthplace of California", as it was the first site visited and settled by Europeans on what is now the West Coast of the United States. Upon landing in San Diego Bay in 1542, Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo claimed the area for Spain, forming the basis for the settlement of Alta California 200 years later. The Presidio and Mission San Diego de Alcalá, founded in 1769, formed the first European settlement in what is now California.
