Irving is a city in the U.S. state of Texas, in Dallas County. It is an inner suburb of Dallas and part of the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. At the 2020 United States Census, the population was 256,684, making it the twelfth-most populous city in Texas, and 87th most populous in the U.S. Irving is noted for its racial and ethnic diversity. Irving includes the Las Colinas mixed-use master-planned community and part of the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport.

Irving High School is a public high school in Irving, Texas. It was the first high school established in the Irving Independent School District. Irving High School includes, like all the other Irving ISD high schools, wireless internet in the classrooms, Chromebooks in every classroom, and a Distance Learning Lab. In 2009, the school was rated "academically acceptable" by the Texas Education Agency.

The Joy and Ralph Ellis Stadium is a stadium at 600 East 6th Street, Irving, Texas, United States. It is used for American football and association football (soccer) matches, and also sometimes for athletics. The stadium opened in 1956 and has a capacity of 12,500.Up until October 28, 2016, it was named Irving Schools Stadium. Chester W. Nimitz High School is a public high school in the Irving Independent School District, Irving, Texas. It was named for U.S. Navy Admiral Chester W. Nimitz. Nimitz High School is one of five public high schools in the Irving Independent School District. As of 2018, the school ethnicity was 1% Native American, 2.1% Asian, 7.7% African American, 8.7% White, and 79.5% Hispanic. Approximately 69% are considered economically disadvantaged. Nimitz faculty totals approximately 179 with approximately 39% having advanced degrees.Nimitz High School's Academic Decathlon team won the state championship in 2004 and has placed in the top 5 since the school's establishment. The JROTC Team competes at the state and national level in many categories. The JROTC Team won the state championship in 2020, most notable are the Black Knights and the Instructors: LT Smalls (USN Retired), First Sergeant Carbajal (USMC Retired). Nimitz received a B (80) for its scaled score on the Texas Education Agency's 2019 Accountability overall rating, and received a distinction designation for comparative academic growth.

KMNY (1360 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station licensed to Hurst, Texas, and serving the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex. It is owned by Multicultural Broadcasting and broadcasts a Spanish-language Christian radio format known as "La Voz 1360." KMNY uses a brokered programming approach, where preachers buy blocks of time on the station and can ask for donations during their shows to support their ministries. By day, it is powered at 50,000 watts, the maximum for AM radio stations licensed by the Federal Communications Commission. But at night, to protect other stations on 1360 AM, it reduces power to 890 watts. While the daytime signal covers the Metroplex, the nighttime signal is limited to a smaller area west of Dallas. KMNY uses a directional antenna at all times, employing a six-tower array after sunset. The transmitter is off MacArthur Boulevard in Grand Prairie, Texas.

The Ruth Paine Home at 2515 W. 5th Street in Irving, Texas, United States, is the location where Lee Harvey Oswald spent the night before he assassinated United States President John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963, at Dealey Plaza. It was from the house's garage that he removed the rifle he used for the assassination, which he had previously concealed there. The house was placed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in November 2014.

The Chateau Theater (not to be confused with Minnesota's more historic Chateau Theatre) opened in 1964 as part of a chain of premium, dollar, and drive-in theaters that stretched across North Texas and Oklahoma, owned and operated by entrepreneur, cameo star of 1980s slasher film Honeymoon Horror and (alleged) former Golden Gloves boxer Jerry Meagher. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, Meagher's theaters suffered setbacks and closures until the Chateau was the last of his franchise: a three-screen dollar theater operating in the Plymouth Park strip mall in Irving, Texas. Threatened by waning attendance, particularly following the opening of the high budget Starplex Cinemas just blocks away from the Chateau's location, the theater eventually sold to former Nortel Networks engineer Jaipal Reddy, who rebranded it as the Everest Theater (and later FunAsia) and maintained a dedicated Bollywood film lineup.Though little information or artifacts remain on any of Meagher's theaters, a small scrap from the chain's late November, 1976 newspaper advertisement can be seen in Errol Morris's film The Thin Blue Line, the events of which take place in part at Meagher's long since demolished 183 Drive In. As of November 2020, the Chateau Theater has been demolished.

The University of Dallas is a private Catholic university in Irving, Texas. Established in 1956, it is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.The university comprises three academic units: the Braniff Graduate School of Liberal Arts, the Constantin College of Liberal Arts, and the Satish & Yasmin Gupta College of Business. Dallas offers several master's degree programs and a doctoral degree program with three concentrations. As of 2017, there were 136 full-time faculty and 102 part-time faculty.

The Irving Arts Center, located in Irving, Texas, is a 10-acre art center that caters to all ages within the community. The center contains over 91,500 square feet of performing and visual arts space which includes a 3,800 square-foot Main Gallery. The Main Gallery host over 20 exhibits throughout the year. In 2007, the art center became an affiliate with the Smithsonian Institution, which makes the Irving Arts Center one out of 160 Smithsonian Affiliates nationwide.The 10-acre center features theaters, classrooms, reception halls, a sculpture garden and other areas for the community. Irving Arts Center features four galleries that are free and open to the public. They host a variety of artwork from local and regional artists, along with traveling shows from the Smithsonian Museum and other affiliates around the country.

The Highlands School is a private, PK–12 Catholic college preparatory school in Irving, Texas, United States. It was established in 1986, in the front room of a family's house in Highland Park, Dallas. The last twenty years, The Highlands School changed location twice. The school itself has seen many upgrades from the addition of a football field and lights to a gymnasium, weight room, and new technology in the classrooms. The Highlands School is fully accredited by the Texas Catholic Conference Education Department (TCCED) since 1999, and by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) since 2006. For the fourth consecutive year, the school has been named by the Acton Institute as one of the "Top 50 Catholic Schools" in the country. In 2012, it was also named a top 50 Catholic High School by the Cardinal Newman Society.

StoneGate Christian Academy (SGCA) is a private Christian school educating students entering high school, elementary and pre-school. It opened as a ministry of the Shady Grove Church in 1976 and became an independent 503(c) organization in April 2005. They are located near Highways 183 and 161 in Irving, Texas.

Crusader Field is a ballpark located in Irving, Texas. It is the home of the University of Dallas Crusaders. It was opened in 1997.
