Head Tide Historic District

The Moses Carlton House is a historic house on Hollywood Boulevard in Alna, Maine. Built in 1810 by Moses Carlton, a prominent area businessman, as a wedding present for his daughter, it and its associated outbuildings are a well-preserved example of an early 19th-century Maine farmstead. The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.

Alna is a town in Lincoln County, Maine, United States. The population was 710 at the 2020 census. Alna is home to the Wiscasset, Waterville and Farmington Railway Museum and is noted for its historic architecture, including the early mill village of Head Tide.

The Wiscasset, Waterville and Farmington Railway is a 2 ft (610 mm) narrow gauge railway. The line was operated as a for-profit company from 1895 until 1933 between the Maine towns of Wiscasset, Albion, and Winslow, but was abandoned in 1936. Today, about three miles (4.8 km) of the track in the town of Alna has been rebuilt and is operated by the non-profit Wiscasset, Waterville and Farmington Railway Museum as a heritage railroad offering passenger excursion trains and hauling occasional cargo.

Whitefield is a town in Lincoln County, Maine, United States. The population was 2,408 at the 2020 census. Whitefield is named for the celebrated British evangelist George Whitefield, who inspired the colonists before the town was settled in 1770, mainly by Irish Catholics. They remembered him when incorporation came in 1809. In the early twenty-first century it was the boyhood home of Sean and Jamie Oshima, who formed their folk-pop duo Oshima Brothers there. Whitefield is included in the Augusta, Maine micropolitan New England City and Town Area.

The Whitefield Union Hall is a historic social venue at 901 Townhouse Road in the Kings Mill village of Whitefield, Maine. Built in 1900 by the local Grange chapter and the Whitefield Fish and Game Club, it has served for more than a century as a major social meeting point. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.

The Dyer River is a 20.2-mile-long (32.5 km) river in Maine. It originates along the northern boundary of the town of Jefferson with the town of Somerville (44°14′13″N 69°28′12″W) and flows southwesterly through Jefferson, passing through Dyer Long Pond and near South Jefferson. It continues southwest into the town of Newcastle, passing the villages of North Newcastle and Sheepscot where it joins the tidal Sheepscot River. The Dyer river is integral to the health of the Dyer River Valley preserve where each year thousands of migrant birds rest and feed on their trek. Additionally, the Dyer River valley houses several bald eagles and red tailed hawks.

The Sheepscot Historic District encompasses a historic village in Alna and Newcastle, Maine. Located just below the mouth of Dyer Brook where it enters the Sheepscot River, the 1,200-acre (490 ha) includes an area that has seen little alteration in more than 100 years, and includes one of the oldest roadways in the state. The area is archaeologically sensitive for prehistoric and historic settlement sites. The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places on June 23, 1978.

The West Branch Eastern River is a 10.4-mile-long (16.7 km) tributary of the Eastern River in Maine. It is part of the Kennebec River watershed. The West Branch begins near South Windsor and flows southwest through the town of Whitefield, joining the East Branch at East Pittston to form the Eastern River.

The East Branch Eastern River is a 6.5-mile-long (10.5 km) river in Maine. It is part of the Kennebec River watershed. It rises in the town of Whitefield and flows southwest to its confluence with the West Branch Eastern River at East Pittston to form the Eastern River.

The Moody Mansion is a historic house on Maine State Route 194 in Pittston, Maine. Built as a summer house in 1890, it is an imposing high-quality example of Late Victorian Queen Anne architecture, now housing apartments. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006.

The Marsh River is a 3.9-mile-long (6.3 km) tidal river in Newcastle, Maine, in the United States. It is a tributary of the Sheepscot River. The Marsh River is formed at the confluence of Deer Meadow Brook and the outlet of Sherman Lake in the western corner of Newcastle and flows west, north, and west again to join the Sheepscot at the town boundary between Newcastle and Wiscasset.

The Lithgow House is a historic house on Blinn Hill Road in Dresden, Maine. Built about 1819, it is a little-altered Federal period house, distinctive for an extremely unusual floor plan. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.
